Tam & co the great winter escape

Well i have another brother who's contribution so far has been 2 x 1 hour visits in 6 weeks. He's also the eldest. If a break us required its about time he stood up to the table. Mum knows i didn't sell up my house etc and live in a van to stay on a driveway in Dunfermline.
So she would never ask or expect me to stay here. Especially over winter.

She's incredibly independent and we are hoping that she continues to be so . My sister is now retired and lives 4 doors down so she will be here anyway.
I hope it works okay Tam but from my experience, and that of others, it could prove more difficult, if you care to read the 'War and Peace' I sent you previously you'll get some idea. For your info I'm the youngest of 5 and it's always fallen to me to do stuff for my mum, others pay lip service but when it comes to the crunch they fall short, sometimes they'd do a bit but not much.

It's a lot for one person to do on their own so all I'm trying to do is give you a heads-up, that's all.

I don’t mind really slow, slow in comfort is cool, hard to find one I guess
There's been a few on ebay ..but never vans only buses. And most will always look like a bus as they have the weird door and illuminated sign above cab

Nearly as good as an old Gardener! Now there won’t be that many on here that know about them without hitting Google.
l remember going with my father to buy one ,the engine and they fired it up on the ground in the yard.
Our drivers had gardener engines told me you need an anchor to chuck out the window to stop em, happy days

Anyone know what these are, spotted on someone’s drive yesterday

No modern electrics needed to fire up a Gardner,,One of the most reliable diesel engines ever built,,mind you max revs was about 1800 rpm,,, Always got you home,,,,BUSBY.

One of these apparently

STEYR PUCH PINZGAUER 172

In that case, they build quality, curious where they came from, British army didn’t use Steyr/Puch products isn’t it?

Yes UK armed forces used both Haflingers and Pinz's

Typical. Its been full sunshine today while i was at the hospital. Pull in to the drive planning to try and sort my wiring this afternoon and the heavens have opened and its now peeing it down . You couldn't make it up

Aye but unfortunately its to be cut open again and a full replacement done. So the last 6 weeks have been pretty pointless
I hope the replacement knee op goes well for your mum and she is up and about and has her independence back soon after.

Still waiting on them making a final decision but that was the latest plan. Although they keep changing things. Certainly at the minute she's still struggling with it so we are hoping they just get on with it so we can get her mobile again ...the longer she sits around the more muscles she's losing

I just had my knee replacement last Friday after 2 years of getting nowhere. Pre- op's but not surgery so we wrote Recorded Delivery to the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital and hey presto I got a date the very next day for 3 weeks later. Sometimes you just have to play a bit of hard ball.

I do love the Haffy's. Mines in the barn, 4 sp lwb, 1965, and has been described as "a collection of holes joined together by rust" runs ok though. I posted that pic as it's a good example, far better than mine:eek:.

I went off-roading once in a Pinzgauer 6x6 - very capable, bit narrow as others have said, got through one washed out section of track that I reckon a Defender would have struggled with. Predictably very noisy on the road!
