Tam & co the great winter escape

Woke up to another ela surprise this morning 🤦‍♂️🤢🤢 i will spare you any photos but once again she managed to get nearly every feckin seat in the van and a big pile on the floor right where i need to stand to get out of bed.

And if it wasn't bad enough i had just washed 4 of the throws yesterday and planned to do the others today ...so now i have 7 throws to wash again and 4 cushion covers off the seats

I swear i could throttle that dog at times . Ive never seen so much shit come out one animal in my life
Thanks for that information Tam, I was just chomping away on me pop tarts, now in the bin  :giggle:

It’s all relative the description must match the item described but many other things are taken into consideration the biggest being the age, what would be expected a vehicle 33years old etc, additionally you do not reject an item you placed the winning bid on,it’s simply not on and not done, you have had every opportunity to check an item out before you bid, therefore, faults seen or unseen are down to you.
Furthermore as Tam as an example is a prolific bidder/buyer on EBay rejection would incur the Seller leaving him bad Feedback whereby this would damage his reputation and future bidding on an item he desperately wants to acquire would be rejected/cancelled by the Seller because of a damaged reputation.
Agreed but as i said it has to match the description. For example this is listed as having been professionally resprayed. So i expect the paintwork to be in good order. He says it drives ok etc , no mention of any serious faults , oil leaks etc. All things that when it comes to vehicles on ebay must be disclosed in the listing. In truth it would not be the first vehicle i have walked away from if not as described. Ebay themselves agree with these things. I refused to buy a car back in march as the seller was a bit dodgy.

That said i have also bought plenty vehicles off ebay with no issues. I just take the listing and photos with a pinch of salt as the seller often has romantic and unrealistic ideas of condition. In 20 years of ebay buying ive only ever had one non paying bidder strike. But i have had 3 or 4 successful claims of compensation for items not as described.

Look on the bright side Tam, you’re day is only going to get better after this start.😉
Well we can only hope .....

The big sook is doing her best to say sorry at least

I think she has seen the dog cage in the vario and it's a warning:LOL:

Are you committed to definitely buying it now? Even if you see the bodywork behind the paint is terrible when you get there?

It doesn’t look bad though from the photos?
Ebay are 100% behind buyers. If Tam isn't happy when he sees it (not as described) he will get his money back. If the seller doesn't reimburse him, Ebay will and then charge the seller.

Not for vehicles or property as they are excluded from buyer protection that's why you never pay until you collect/take ownership

OMG I got into a right argument a few years ago with a guy I sold a trailer to. He refused to pay for it until he had seen it and I refused to let him come and see it until he paid for it :rofl:It was a right stand off.

Didn't know whether to give you a funny for that.

To be fair, it's the last thing they want to do, hence the multiple splatterings, she just doesn't know how to tell you.
My first Ridgeback used to look SO guilty and upset if he had an accident I just used to give him a big cuddle, risking the fact he might think he was doing the right thing, because he knew he wasn't.

I would never pay for a vehicle I hadn't seen ..in fact i don't normally even leave a deposit. Unless like when i bought the eura mobil i had haggled the price down on a classified add so i gave him a deposit to end the listing. But with an auction i always pay on collection by bank transfer. No deposit etc because as Minxy says buyer protection doesn't cover vehicles. Its down to the seller to be as honest as possible. Slight discrepancies are allowed but any intent to mislead isnt. So if i view it and its a big pile of 💩 ill take photos and walk away. Of course the distance doesn't help as its a costly waste of time if its a wreck. But hopefully it isn't. Its rare for the chassis etc on these to rust so that should be fine. The engines are pretty robust ..its just the bodywork that lets them down but im hoping no one would go to the expense of repainting it without welding up any serious rust etc.

The mot history looks pretty good on it with few faults

Yeah she got plenty of cuddles. I know she cant help it ...if you gotta go you gotta go ...i just wish they would stay in the one place lol. There's only one dry base cushion left in here ..the rest are stripped of covers drying after being washed. The throws stopped most of it but not all

Thats the last 10 years history. Couple of advisories in the past for slight corrosion propery inner front arches. The one i had was the same. And slight play in steering box which is common

NI require nothing for entry, they don't even bother asking for human passports.
Dogs just get a belly rub off the guy who looks in you bathroom for stowaways.
As for RoI, no idea but they do like to make things up as they go along, just to be different.
That's going in both directions
This exactly :) , Northernraider you'll be fine , dogs etc are not checked. The only thing they check Is to make sure you paid :)

One very strange thing ...the shoilet is clearly on the drivers side of the van ...yet the hatch for the cassette apears to be on the passenger side 🤔 work that one out lol.

Just got a quote from Adrian flux to insure it. £296 which isn't bad . So thats set up to go at the weekend. Flight £62 Edinburgh to stanstead and then its just fuel to get it home. Should all come in around £8350 roughly

We had one of those Thetford "bench" style toilets in our Adria caravan and I remember the cassette was very long, but not the full width of the van !

Its very strange ...cant see a door on the inside either.

Ill need to sort that out though as i don't want it plated at under 3.5t when its a 6 tonne van
Is it not a 7 tonne van being a 709.
I thought the first number was weight and the others to do with the power output.
Hmm, that would make the ones starting with 8 too heavy, forget that idea!

Perhaps it originally had a cassette toilet when converted but perhaps now has a compost affair 🤷‍♂️

She probably feels (almost) as bad as you do... imagine her trying to hold it in all night until 💥.
She probably feels under the weather too, poor girl.

Any hope of teaching her to bark when she needs to go...?

Yeah on the vario its usually the first number that depicts weight so yes the 814 is a 7.5t the 614 is a 6 tonne the 512 is a 5tonne etc. ...the difference being the 7.5 has an extra leaf in each spring and 17.5" wheels the 6 tonne has 16" wheels

I believe the older models were the same so a 508 would be 5 tonne etc . This is a 709 so id guess at first 7 tonne but then i noticed it only has 16" wheels so i think its 6 tonne originally.

How on earth its got 2900kg down for gross weight is beyond me but im hoping all the original plates are still on it then ill contact dvsa and tell them theres been an error some time in the past. Dvla are generally clueless so if the owner phoned to query they would just confirm what was on log book even if log book was wrong. And as he didn't have a c1 he was happy to accept that. Pretty sure if he had been stopped though and weighed he'd have been done

Going by the ebay photos it still has a bench cassette in the bathroom ...only its on the other side from that hatch

She does normally give a little whine and when i woke up this morning at 7.30 she was doing that so i thought id get up and let her out only she had already done it ...several times

that recuring fault with steering play is probably examiners whose experience of that type of steering system is limited i had an old bedford that was about 8 turns lock to lock
