Tam & co the great winter escape

Struggling to keep inside the motorhome cool . I have the cold fan blower on and the 4 skylights open but its still warm as not much of a breeze.

Id be sat outside but theres not much shade for the pooches

Endless breeze fan works a treat for us
This van has a built in cold air circulation system that draws air from under the van and blows it around. But its so hot outside its not that cold .

No beach here, but a big private swimming pool , with a lot of shade and a big American fridge freezer nearby, and consider yourself lucky lol, it’s quite cold where you are, 41 Celsius here with a nice breeze😎😆😆😆😎

Best way to cool is to close the blinds on the sunny side and keep the windows/skylights closed.
Yeah all the windows and blinds are closed its just the skylights that are open bit with the blinds half closed.

Its certainly cooler than it is outside .im just hoping it cools a bit before i go to work

Yes thats why i stopped going to Spain in the summer its too hot for the dogs.

To hot for me at 40° to be honest 30° hits my comfort zone. But would be nice to be near the sea today

We are still in France but to be honest, it is hot in most of Europe atm. Feel sorry for people who need to work in this heat, some people don’t have the luxury of looking for shade👍

Ive had to leave the dogs in mums house as not comfortable leaving them in the van tonight in this heat. The house is lovely and cool but i really hope they behave themselves and dont start playing around. I wont hear the end of it if they damage anything.

Tam. I've been an avid reader of your posts but due to various events I've not been on here for ages and the automatic notification stopped for some reason.
The last I read was that you were worried about one of the dogs and having to live in the van while it was being repaired. Do hope both things turned out well for you.
Steph

Put something on windows and then you can have them open and not get the sun in.View attachment 642831
Aye i have sunshades for them but not keen leaving windows open when im not there. Dogs would probably just lick any theif.

It’s lovely in Ull today, van reckoned outside temp was 42C but phone puts it at 34. Inside a bit warmer though

Edit, just noticed the dates are wrong on thermometers, these were today around 15:30

Yeah all the windows and blinds are closed its just the skylights that are open bit with the blinds half closed.

I made insulated pads for my skylights with suckers on so that the blinds can be left fully open to allow as much air movement as possible, if the sun is at the side or rear I just partly stick the pads on at that end of the skylights and let them flop down vertically to stop the sun, really works well. Also making pads for the windows too cuts down a lot more heat than blinds and/or curtains, the double sided silvered stiff bubble wrap type stuff works a treat for this and is cheap too (also help to keep the heat in during cold weather too).

Bloody freezing here 24.5° in the shade, we were sitting outside in the garden, came back indoors as there was a chilly wind blowing.
I'd swap you in a instant, 38 here at peak today, I was outside fixing the motorhome as well. 24.5 with a stiff breeze still sounds a bit warm for me, but I'd cope ;)

Pictures would really help
please 🙏
I've just taken a photo of the one on my Heki, it's a bit tatty now as the edge binding has rotted due to sun exposure so needs replacing but gives you an idea of what they are like, the below thread gives more info.

Is that a standard feature or a bodger bill special ?

You must be kidding! We live near you and I'm a sun worshiper but had to stay out of the sun from 12 until 8 tonight. It was balmy sitting out in shorts and t shirt tonight and is still 25 degrees now!

How's Beech ?
She's finding it a bit hot. We've been putting a frozen towel over her throughout the day. Her arthritis is pretty bad these days and she doesn't like to climb the steps to our garden so it's out to the nearest verge every time she needs a pee and walks are only around 20 to 30 mins max on the flat. We even got a special buggy so we can push her to the local woods where she gets out for a potter.

So no more foreign motorhome adventures for her 😭 not bad going for nearly 13 though.

Wow amazing what a difference a few miles makes. Got over 30 here today and no wind. I'm going to bed with an ice pack 😂
