Tam & co the great winter escape

That looks disgusting.
In the interest of health and safety ( ie me not getting a punch from Minxy ) I have to point out I have no evidence the picture of the food was actually taken from a fish and chip shop in Hull .

I also have no evidence to suggest it wasn’t 😂

large fish and chips as severed in Hull .

I've no idea where you got that abomination but I can categorically tell you that is NOT the usual fish & chips provided in Hull ... we get a good sized medium F&C with peas/gravy/curry for £3.20 at ours along with scraps, something that Scottish chippies don't do ... it's not the same without scraps!

A couple of weeks ago, it used to be £2.72 until this year ... blooming inflation! :giggle:

At £3.20 a portion I would question the fish being served ! 😂

That's only the price of a portion of chips.

Thinking back, hopefully like many others on here,;) It was always a cheap Saturday night out to take your girlfriend to the "Pictures" and get Fish & Chips on the way home, easily got change out of a fiver, much less in the 70's(y)
I always thought it strange when visiting grand parents/family in Scotland, that when ordering F&C, I was asked if I wanted a single fish, or a fish supper, and they only offered one type of fish in those days, think it was whiting.
Loved the puddin suppers, a whole wee black pudding cooked in batter, with a load of Ayrshire Potato Chips.

Trying to remember what the Scottish name was for the large slice of potato, deep fried in batter was called up there, I liked those also.
Its called different things up & down the country I believe.

I also guess that at current F&C prices, the Friday night treat for many families will be a thing of the past, sadly.

Food seems very reasonably priced !
Maybe cancel the Spain trip and just go to Hull for 90 days ?
Blimey you must be desperate.
Did a job in Hull a few years ago the one thing I remember about it was a complete dearth of restaurants I nearly starved.

Well if you will look for the ones with expensive menus it's no wonder ... we are much more reasonably priced here! 😄

In uttoxeter the chip shops all do the same thing, pile loads of chips on, even if you ask for small, we always just have one between us and even then there is useually chips left over.
