Tam & co the great winter escape

I hope it isn’t more bad news. Tam doesn’t need it. Fingers crossed he comes in soon

Do they know your unhappy with the new clutch ?
Not yet . It doesn't seem to be slipping as the revs never go over 3000rpm ...its rattly though which is my biggest gripe but it rattled before too. It goes away when i press the clutch and its definitely coming from the gearbox area .. but i don't know whats causing it. I assumed it was the thrust bearing and replacing it would cure the rattle but it hasnt .

Performance wise im not sure if its just the engine / weight combo .. the hymer was much better but also lighter and not a tag axle. I cant remember how bad my burstner argos was as it was a long time ago . The frankia was the 3 litre engine so cant really compare.

Ill speak to them in the morning see if he has any ideas.

The overhang is truly frightening!! It looks like it would tip up if you walked to the back.

I have however thought of a much better use for it. Strip it out completely and put two full length 10 pin bowling lanes in, you could probably still fit a small bar area in too looking at those looooong pictures of the interior!! Nice little mobile business for parties and functions 😂 😂 😂

It looked like it was bending over the rear axle in pic number 4 ?

Dual mass flywheel (DMF) perhaps?

My thoughts too.
Certainly had one on VW T4 that needed replacing, sounds terrible and caused juddering.
Also on T4's the crank pulley has a rubber insert and when they start to separate they can be noisy, to the point you think you'll need a new engine! Not sue if Fiat use the same design.

Is this the best caravan grafted to flatbed conversion ever.

<Broken link removed>
It looks better than a Bailey, they always look like a cut & job to me.

I spotted the joke-
This Is The 3.5 TON CHASSIS - So ANYONE Can DRIVE THIS...!

How much does a sprinter chassis cab weight 1.8t +1.3t caravan - it's chassis presumably 300kg = 2.8t..... less than many MH and avondales are light our dart 556 was 1300kg mgw.

Cambelt, alternator belt and aircon belt all done today. He checked the noise and agreed it comes from inside the bell housing and goes away when clutch is pressed but it seems to be just how these are once clutch has been replaced. Its hard to tell , i just can't remember the hymer having this rattle but then i also hardly noticed it today on the drive home so im not sure 🤷‍♂️ it seemed to drive really well today.

The final bill was £1029 all in

He actually knocked an hours labour off the original quote.

They said they can claim all the additional labour from the parts supplier for the luk clutch they originally fitted. So thats ok .

The crankshaft seal seems to have cured the oil leak issue as no sign of any leaks at moment.....that was £108 from fiat and the other slider seal was on the end of the shaft..£57
Alternator belt £28 and aircon belt £15

But hopefully all should be well now .

The rattling i might have to take a drive out to Razamataz and listen to his hymer and mine side by side and see if its the same or noticeably different.

Theres no dual mass flywheel on these so it cant be that and the 3 piece clutch kit has been replaced. I had all the old parts there for me to inspect. Cambelt had been done previously but no idea how long ago . But was a cheap belt name id not heard of so happy ive Now got a gates kit fitted.

When is the rattle most noticable
On tickover when stationary ?
I'll have a listen to mine later, but never noticed any rattle apart from general engine noise

Sounds like clutch release bearing.
