And these were enough to convince me that from friday im going on a diet and extending our doggy walks. In a few weeks i might rejoin the gym and try going an hour a day as im really getting bad with the weight. I think im now heavier than ive ever been and carrying more around my belly than i ever did.

I have clothes in my mums attic including my biker gear i cant fit in to so thats the target and inspiration ...to fit in to those again although it might take a while.

But if i dont do it now i never will as im starting to develop problems with my feet , and knees. Mostly due to weight gain . Im not weighing myself etc as that can be soul destroying when it doesnt change but i should notice any losses by clothing etc. Im a 36/38 waist just now and would like back to a 32/34 . And im somewhere around 52" chest and id like back to 44" . So currently xxl to xxxl in t shirts whereas i was an L back in 2017/8

Wont be easy but a few diet changes and more exercise should help. Watch thos space.

Positive reinforcement welcome , hold the negative thanks i get enough of that From mum lol

Good luck with the diet, I’ve been trying for years and still can’t get rid…. I might have to go on another crash diet…😉😎

Damn Tam that’s a big difference in then and now but there has been two years of exceptional weirdness with the pandemic in that time as well. It amazing what portion sizes and movement can do for weight loss, I got rid of quite a bit after I retired and turned traveller. You can do it if you put your mind to it just don’t build unrealistic expectations, slow and steady does the job if you keep at it. Good luck 👍

Cut the carbs, fill up on fat.
I didn't have weight to lose, but am diabetic, and been on low carb - high fat or variations of, for 10 years.

Lynne has started copying about 3 months ago and has lost a stone and a half, and is now converting her mates!

Dr Sten Ekberg is a good one to YouTube, an ex decathlete, he just tells you the facts and you do what you want.

Good luck. 😎

Good luck Tam. It's the mindset bit of loosing weight I struggle with. A long day at work and I just can't find the mental strength to go out walking etc at night.

You've got the get up and go so I'm sure you'll be successful.

Tam, I'm about the same size that you are now, maybe a bit bigger - a little older but not by that much - and I've been absolutely bloody useless at losing the weight - it's snacking that kills it for me. Knees and ankles are now giving me grief. Bike leathers are the most unforgiving things in the world as you've found! No chance of me getting in some of mine.

Anyhow, I shall watch your progress with interest, and I shall have another go myself - you've already managed to make me feel guilty at not sticking with it, which is no bad thing!

Different things work for different people. I ha e found that the most effective method for me is exercise when fasting. It's what cyclists do.

The method is to get up. Don't eat. Go out and exercise. Not vigorous exercise just slow and steady. Your body seems to start eating its own fat. Don't eat until lunchtime, or later if you can hang on. The hunger fades. You might feel lightheaded. When you eventually eat, eat as much as you like.

High fat diet? Tell me more, sounds like my kind of eating plan!

Actually just realised the dates on those pics are wrong. The first 2 were may 2017 , the one with jade and franky in background was july 2018 , the last 2 were January 2019 and april 2019.

After that im not keen on any photos of me☹️

I know how hard work it was to lose it last time which is what makes it a daunting thought. But the last 2 years ive been getting more and more pain with my feet and ankles and i fear if i dont do something now and that gets worse then I'll just get bigger and bigger.

Oh and jade is going on a diet too because shes getting very chubby and im noticing shes not as active as she was and shes only 4 1/2 so too young to already be falling behind on walks

Fasting works for me - no calories between 6pm and 8am. It gives the body time to ‘reset’ and is easy to do long-term. 3.5 stones lost.
Night time is the worst for me .

I dont eat much for breakfast or lunch and i don't snack through the day ...but nightime after dinner im the worst. Biscuits etc and of course the takeaway food from work . But i can change that to something less fattening. Although its still mostly carbs so that isn't great.

I eat too many carbs as breakfast is normally cereal or toast.
Lunch is sandwiches etc

Dinner usually not that bad but i need to stop the potatoes or chips

Well done Tam for recognising and admiting tbe problem. I joined 'slimming world' a few years ago when I was still in the UK.
Attending their sessions and the encouragement one received helped a lot.
We did have one bloke in our lot too - he was a great favourite and received much help and encouragement from tbe women for being brave enough to attend.
At tbe weekly weigh-in your weight was kept private just "gain" or "loss" was announced.
The group meeting really helped, though I believe you can also do it on-ljne.

Sounds like an hourglass figure:LOL:
For your height a 36/38 waist sounds small, I'm 36 and only a little bloke, so you ain't got a fat waist.

going through the same thing having just been diagnosed type 2 i was same as you tam light breakfast didnt eat all day dinner then snacking the evenings.wasnt so bad when i was working but without work its to much intake

I dont but the problem now is i have an overhang or pouch that i never had last time i had gained weight. And its not nice

That’s exactly what I thought I’m a 36 waist, 6 foot 3 and not overweight.
Yep back in 2015 before i lost weight i was a 42/44 inch waist. I got down to 32/34 ...and its crept up a bit to 36/38 but now my gut hangs over my waistband ☹️.

I was lucky last time when i lost it as i had no excess skin etc i toned up pretty well . But not so sure it will be the same this time.

I have lots of jeans and bike trousers though that are 34 waist so id like to get back in to those.

And ive a lovely old vintage leather biker jacket thats about 50 years old that id also like back in to.

So thats the goals ... hopefully

My advice is a good protein breakfast, like eggs will set you up for the day, keep carbs low, NO biscuits!! and cut out all sugar, (not easy I know). Not eating after 6pm will really help. Drink plenty of water too!

Believe me, I have tried so many diets, now I am using Purition shakes, with an added banana usually, or something eggy, for breakfast, salad or something with lots of veg (not spuds!) for lunch and a small sandwich at teatime. I keep fruit down to just the one banana and one apple a day, there's lots of sugar in fruit :cautious: I can't exercise at the moment, but at least with this 'diet' I am not putting weight on.

Hopefully you will soon be looking as fit💪 as you did in 2017. good luck!

I’ve lost two stones in a year of only eating in the afternoon. I eat what I like, so don’t have to do without stuff I like, but lose quicker if I stay of cake! 😃 The trick to not being hungry when you are fasting is to have absolutely nothing that has a taste - so water or black coffee, but no flavoured water or milk, or herb teas etc. As soon as I have a taste my body thinks it’s dinner time, so I’m hungry! No taste, no hunger (after the first day or two). Used to get hungry for about twenty minutes at breakfast time, but that was habit. I love not having to think of diet food, & what’s fattening or not!
