Tam & co the great winter escape

Just had the mother of all time wasters look at the caravan. Older couple 90 minutes they spent . Said they loved it , negotiated a price , gave me their life story. Then said they hadn't any cash to leave a deposit. Took my bank details to transfer a deposit when home.

20 minutes later the wife text saying husband changed his mind 🙄

Replied telling them i knew they were wasters when they claimed not to have a deposit with them.

Must lead very sad boring lifes if looking at caravans is how they pass the time
I sold a big twin axle caravan for my in-laws a few years back, a chap came to look at it, spent ages going over it, agreed a price and gave me a £200 cash deposit. Went away saying how much his missus was going to love it, and that was the last I ever heard from him!! Chased him for about 3 weeks before I gave up and flogged it to someone else.

I can only think he got home and his missus went ballistic that he'd spent £10k on a caravan without her seeing it first. I know he was still about, I saw him in his (liveried) works van about 3 months later.

What a difference it makes touching in the scratches on the grey stripe along bottom, painting the wheels and fitting new wheel trims.

Not polished it up yet but it should look minted once doneView attachment 609183
Is it a keeper then Tam

it’s looking great btw 👍

I wouldn't have minded if they hadnt both been there. Just professional time wasters.

Someone else viewing tomorrow morning. Ive raised the price as it must be too cheap 😁

Planning to reuse this compressor that came with the iveco. Going to mount it in this locker and have it for inflating my tyres etc

You do get them I had two or three when selling my first Hymer, one couple had been there over an hour I'd taken them for drive. Then they started asking why I was selling a 6 year old van for 6k more than they could buy a new Elddis.

That's quite a bulky beastie, do you really need it? I have rear air assist on the suspension with no built-in compressor - a little 12 volt compressor, along with a 12 volt extension lead for a cigarette lighter socket, does just fine and only gets used occasionally for the suspension and tyres - copes with topping the rear tyres up to 80psi no problem

It isnt that bulky .

Its 12 inches long 4 inches high its in the smallest locker on the van where nowt else fits

I have a tiny little Vanhaus rechargeable one no problem with 70 psi.
Ive burnt out 3 ring tyre compressors in the last 2 years the last one in Croatia last November which left me with none.

I have this compressor anyway as it was in the iveco for airhorns. Might aswell use it. Will fit a coil hose and tyre guage on it and it will be handy.

Apologies l should have got that Tam being a Scot. I am up there in a few days for the SSDT in Fort William where l will have to drink Tennants or some such offerings instead of Stella or San Miguel.
Don't 😂

It’ll be handy for blowing up the stand-up paddle board, and you’ll never know when you see a damsel in distress with a flat on your travels…😉😎

and you keep ranting about greedy business people 😉
Whats greedy about it ?

There's 3 on ebay a 2002 for £4k a 2005 for £5200 and a 2007 for £7.5k

Mine is a 2004 , 2 owner van in mint condition inside and out and with a motor mover , awning , and lots of accessories.

My price is therfore cheap at £3750
Im after £3.5k but people like to haggle.

Ive been offered 3k 4 times now and 3250 twice.

I want 3.5k and im happy to leave it there till i get it.🤷‍♂️

That's what its worth.

Doesn't matter a damm how much i paid for it.

If i was well off i could afford to give it away for nowt but i ain't well off.

I’m not disagreeing , imo you should get as much as you can for it

BUT

if the ferry/ tunnel / fuel/ campsites / shops etc put up their prices due to supply & demand
you have strong views , calling them greedy / rip off merchants etc

you’ve had no price increase but you put up your price

Seems it’s do as I say not as I do 🥺
