Tam & co the great winter escape

Did he have the section of floor he removed?

We are waiting for the photos.
Unfortunately not as he chopped it up to make that daft step. Ive discovered he's a bit of a bodger so I'm hoping his wiring is better than the other jobs hes done.

Thats me just home and its pouring it down so ill have a closer look at stuff tomorrow.

It did seem to be missfiring at times coming up the road and the EML flashed on a couple of times....im suspecting it might have the same issue i had with Toby 2 years ago and have a dodgy injector plug wire....im hoping so and it isn't something more serious.

Never fails but every van i buy it has some issues the owner doesn't own up to when asked.

But overall i think it will be a nice van when ive sorted the bits.

The only photo ive taken was off the roof and the back from mums upstairs window.

Check out the bolts through the back panel 🤦‍♂️ , the massive reverse light above the back window , and the rusty steel brackets he's mounted the solar with 🤦‍♂️

Eejit .

Why was he selling, after making all the mods?
He said he wants a yacht but his wife told me today if he gets a yacht he's going himself because neither her or their two kids can go and the they don't like boats. He also had a self build van for sale and from what his wife said they very rarely use any of them . He used this mainly as his music studio . They've only actually been away with it twice in the 18 months hes owned it.

He gave me all the books and manuals for it ....3 big folders weighing about 20kg .no joke.

Oh and i checked the weight plate and its rated at 5500 train weight , gross weight 5000kg front 2000kg , rear 1 1500kg rear 2 1500kg so i reckon i should be able to uplate it from the 4500kg it currently is with no alterations.

Is that correct?

I think maybe someone downplated it to 4500 so they had 1000 to tow instead of only 500kg

Is all that solar mounted on rusty steel brackets ?
Looks like they maybe on unistrut, make sure it's all secure, there will be some lift from those panels at speed / in wind

Looks great to me Tam,can’t wait to see more, and also your improvements. Nice and big…plenty of room for entertainment. Could become a keeper?

Come on Tam, if you did'nt have things to do on it, you bored stiff.
:LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Aye i always tinker and adapt them anyway . As long as things are fixable without costing the earth i can cope with it.

It has a lot of nice features ive not had before. Double glazed cab windows, driver and passenger front doors with electric windows, traumatic e cab heating with windscreen heaters , electric front blind etc , the cab area is almost immaculate , the upholstery and cupboards etc are all excellent condition. Its a domestic lpg cooker he's fitted which looks like its never been used but its rattly. Domestic 240v fridge which is aa plus energy rated ...but has a tiny freezer sadly. Loads of cupboards abd drawers , nice big bathroom that i can sit on loo in comfort . Big shower which is spotless. He put a brand new tv in it for me as he took his computer monitors out . Its has a fresh water tank but also a separate filtered water tank and second tap to kitchen. It has a 5g airiel on the roof but ive no idea what i need to be able to use that..he mentioned needing a router.

Ill take some photos inside tomorrow but will be better once ive been down to Wissel and we've sorted the lounge area out.

I wonder how he's wired all that solar. There seem to be several different sizes so possibly different voltages, no doubt several controllers.

Wow, it is a beast, Glad you got home in one piece. Looking forward to seeing it once you have valeted and primped it.

Does it have a name yet?

Maybe Elecktra........................Greek for the shining one. Which it will be with all that solar.
Hmm not decided on a name yet.

My first euramobil i called Mable ...as in you're a Mabel. Then my mobilvetta i called Mable 2 .

Not sure if Mable 3 would be good or fhoggy as the reg is fh06 and the front headlights need restored 😁

Yes theres 3 big controllers , 3 separate banks , bank a is 350w bank b is 400w and bank c is 350w

2 separate battery banks 1 x 400ah and 1 x 300ah

The 400 only works the inverter powered plugs etc

The 300 runs all the original equipment.

Before & after is going to be great to see. I think this might be your best one yet.
I bought it with the intention of keeping this one for a while and if i can sort the issues out that's still the plan. It certainly has the space i need

Cor blimey,he could sell it to the National Grid !!:ROFLMAO:
Lets hope it holds its own lol. Its also got a 40amp b2b though so im hoping im never short of power.
