Tam & co the great winter escape

Thanks fella I've really enjoyed reading about your travels through the winter. Its great to see it from a normal chaps point of view and not a celebrity traveller. Although you are becoming a bit of a celebrity :giggle:

And thanks from me too for your stories and pics. Stunning day to get home. Perth to Plockton for an al fresco lunch while you were plodding around the Edinburgh ring road. Get those tools out!

7737 - 7188 = 549 miles of dog walking 😂😂
Ah, just realised the numbers are the wrong way round, polarsteps is lower.
Aye i think its because polar steps doesn't actually follow the roads it goes in straight lines between points.

So a few details

5 months ( minus 3 days )
19 countries
Polarsteps mileage 7188 miles
Actual miles going by odometer 7737 miles
Total spend from leaving home to returning £3267
Not even Martin Lewis can get that value from the pound. Welcome home.

Finally home , traffic jams wll around Edinburgh added an hour to my time.

We usually order chicken from our Chinese takeaway but if your mum prefers kittens so be it. I now understand why "it taks a lang spoon tae sup wi a Fifer!"

How's Ela coping being in a house Tam? It may be her first ever home :h:

I think our spend to Greece last year would have not been very different per week if one excluded an extra ferry trip to an island and our trip home to see Basias's Mother.

We are two people, but not 3 dogs to feed and vets' fees. We also did less miles per week.

But like Tam we do not use campsites - can you imagine that even if one averaged £12pn for a campsite(even if they did not charge per dog) over 35 weeks (£12 X 35 X 7) = £2,940, which would almost double Tam's spend.

We spent 5-6 weeks on 'my island' and did not 'rob' campsites of one penny - there are no campsites!

We do not tour on a budget, we do not need to, but touring Tam's and our way just happens to be not expensive.

Geoff

Yes, and it’s £20 a landing now! And fish and chips is £14. Oh and fuel was £2.15 a litre.

Welcome back and like all the other funsters have said thanks for keeping us entertained over the last 5months with your travels, really looking forward to the progress on the new van. Will you start a new thread or continue with the old one ?

Welcome home Tam. I sense you have been more frazzled by this trip albeit thankfully not vehicle problems this time. A good push over the summer and your new conversion should be ready to go! The world’s your oyster!! Thanks for the blog - you can tell how much we have depended on your daily post - the minute you go off line for 24 hours we’ve been frantic!! Nice for you though to know you’re missed. Keeping my eyes peeled for Jook Three of the Trilogy. All the best Tam.
