Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

I went on the Rosyth Zeebrugge ferry years ago when it first started, brilliant boat. Highlight was going under the then 2 Forth bridges, very tight. The food was excellent as was the bar but the entrainment was dire. The Evening News was doing an introductory offer of a car 2 passengers and a cabin for £99 return, such a miss not having it.
That's a great price for the fair ....i was never on it ...i think in general it was too expensive for freight and thats how it didnt last ....but when independence comes im sure there will be others 😉 save all that passport nonsense driving south .

Well im on board and parked up ....for how empty and quiet it is they dont half pack you in ...you couldn't get a credit card between the back of the germans possl and Toby's front bumper ...and then they have reversed a sprinter van right up the back of me ....germans have plugged in but im leaving gas on. Not many lifeboats on this ferry ...i hope i dont need one.

Tam, it was years ago but during the school October holidays, I agree with you it is likely to be reinstated in the next few years. Bon voyage, loved reading of your adventures. Stay safe.

Dont think theres any WiFi onboard so possibly lose signal once we get underway ..... probably have an early night anyway as it gets in at 5am and depending how long they take to unload the trucks etc ill get kicked off ..

Tam, pjs map is a god send. We used it loads but honestly with your previous experience plus the time of year you won’t have any trouble finding fantastic places each night. Just hope it’s not too quiet everywhere for you.

ps we woke up to an empty deck and couldn’t believe how quickly n quietly everyone had departed so best set your alarm!

When you get to the port, the drive to the Superfast terminal is a very long way

It still runs I understand but only for freight but do correct if not the case. I did here rumour it might run as before after that word we can't mention on here. Would suit us very well should we be allowed back ( home )to Scotland for a visit

I had a quick look at the map but most are on park4night anyway i think ...but yes with it being so quiet I shouldn't have any bother ...ive been told by friends who were in greece from December last year till may this year that the Peloponnese is the place to be if it locks down as they let campers stay on wild spots and bring in toilets and water trucks rather than up north where they put folk on to campsites... fortunately thats where im heading first anyway

Make sure you camp at least half a mile from a campsite that is the only time you will get moved on if close to a site.

In other news .... we've lost another great one

We have indeed, and initially I was really sad, then I looked at the pictures of him in his Bond roles with the likes of Ursula Andress, then took in to account he was 90 and died in his sleep in the Bahamas and thought, if I was offered that right now I'd snap their arm off.

Yep he had a good inning's and probably a far more exciting life than any of us ...not to mention never having to worry about money

Not a bad go of it to be honest...

Be careul that your phone does not switch to an expensive satellite connection when out of range of shore masts, like it does in mid-Channel on Dover routes. It is very expensive, even if you do not use it as it still downloads e.g. updates. Switch it off.

I think you will have no lockdown problems where you are going. Anyway Greek country police are not renowned for cruising down to remote bays in the night looking for campers.

I am a touch jealous of you going to my beloved Greece. Enjoy it and behave tourself.

Geoff

You should have Italian service for the first few hours as the usual routing follows the coastline, just be aware that about two hours out from Igoumenitsa you will be off the coast of Albania, not in EU so roaming could be expensive. Have a good one.
