Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

There is, but there is also a lovely coast road to Preveza where there are lots of places to stop and chill.
On the way to the ferry weekend before last, we stopped in Plataria for a stroll and an icecream, and parked on the marina.View attachment 436920
Now that would be a challenge getting to Metereon Monastery on a coast road.

Just moved a few miles along road today ....had a lazy day ...milo and jade were in swimming and chasing sticks ...done a bit of food shopping ,filled up with diesel and just chilled out..

Nice sunset tonight

This may be unnecessary, but I seem to remember you saying that last camping on deck is 31st Oct and also saying you are sailing on Sunday.

Am I mixed up or have you got the days mixed up? Just checking as I do not want you to miss the boat.

Ignore if I am confused.

Geoff

Agreed! Quite obviously I misunderstood your comment to mean that there is a motorway from Igoumonitsa to other places generally, not that there is a motorway to the Monastery specifically.

I knew what you meant 👍 ill visit the monestary at some point but to start with im heading south hugging the coast ... hopefully find a nice idylic beach i can park up at for 4 or 5 days in the sun

Feel ive been driving a lot

EBL's fitted to Hymers do not like ships generators a big warning about it on the Schaudt site.
Not recommended to plug in unless you have under/over voltage and surge protection.
I fitted a AVS30 voltage protection unit before going to Greece.

Tam's crossing is only 8, hours fridge/freezer will survive for 24 hours without power.
Ooh err....I plugged in...had no idea....my Banners probably saved me 😥

Greece is still laid back especially on the mainland.Cant remember the name of the area but it's probably half a day from
Igomista but it's where the monasteries are built on top of huge rock formations,,Very interesting,,Plenty of overnight stops at taverns if you have a meal ...BUSBY.
The Mani....very feudal area years ago so towers built to see enemies coming....you need to read Patrick Leigh Fermor....described as one of the most descriptive books ever written....get a copy in bookshop in Olympus....in fact go to bookshop anyway...fantastic selection of books....owner fascinating....plus see all the old rocks...(edit) actually perhaps that’s another area...not monasteries...towers like Florence

Hmm...big storm on Wednesday on middle finger Of Pelepones...temperature cooling...down to 21 degrees top from Saturday...a week ago it was 26 degrees....lots of beach bars closing for the season...still nicer than UK though..November is going to be a good November according to locals...December can rain a lot....Jan and Feb cold....March is lovely...like English spring or Scottish high of summer 😊

Banners don't like Greece that's where mine failed.
Might be free or cheap but not as interesting as going on local Toll free roads....
Only had 4 weeks in Greece and was cold & wet at the monisteries I wanted to get back to the sun.

Mine still going strong after 7 years...trick is to only use one lightbulb in van and nothing else...disconnect all other appliances...a bit like in a tent...

The food in our freezer did not stay frozen in our Dometic in our N + B on a crossing from Plymouth to Santander.

Wasn't enough well frozen stuff in the freezer then. You properly freeze things rock solid at home, preferably in oblong containers to fit the fridge (2-L ice cream plastic tubs are about the right size even if it's only an inch deep on the bottom of it), then tip em out and double wrap in a mile of clingfilm, so you stack everything up neatly in the freezer; failing which you stock up at a handy supermarket with eg pre-frozen veg, eg peas are good cos you can mould them around odd shaped stuff. Our Dometic f/f goes onto 12v as we come from home down to departure point and even if we have a night on the aire at Canterbury, or parked at a mway services for loo and coffee, or whilst actually on the dock, prior to loading, engine off and straight onto gas.

Are you managing to get gas ok Tam, do you have underslung tanks or bottles. Happy travels. (y)

Well ive just been in my first italian supermarket ....as i expected much the same only a ridiculous amount of aisles solely for pasta and wine .....2 whole aises of pasta ...thats absurd
And im not that keen on it

They have this weird new till idea ...basically one cashier in the middle of 2 conveyor belts ....all items have to be placed in single file and nothing on top of the other ....it slowly goes through a scanner like the thing at airports and then you pay at other end .....it just caused confusion and several auld italian women going nuts at cashier .....the normal system is so much quicker and easier
I got through surprisingly easy but i only had 5 or 6 items and paid by card ....modern technology ...you really do wonder who its supposed to help

Off to bari now ....going to go collect my tickets first and ask when ive to show up for boarding as i get nervous with this incase im late ...then ill find somewhere to park and go for a wander round town

Ok well me being a bit green this ferry terminal is nothing like ive been to before
There doesn't seem any passport controls or booths for security etc ....i just drove straight in here and im right up at the boat.

I'm guessing its the terminal building at the superfast ferry i go in to ?

This is all new to me lol

Very big port, long way down to the ferry check in building, that’s where they check your passport, and give boarding passes, and tickets to hang in windscreen, like on the tunnel, showing destination.

Boat is where that scribble is above

I am now...wassup ? No you can’t have my Banner batteries if that’s what you’re after...
Do you just go in to this big building to check in?
How long before sailing?
Was the boat you went on as small as this one as its quite a tiddler as ferries go

Northernraider , we went into the building first then were directed to where you are now. Then moved again to board, might be different with COVID though.
they will board you onto the ferry and you drive and stay on the main level. The guys are very helpful although they might not have English. Hope this helps, enjoy your trip, we absolutely loved the pelonnese and hope to return next year. I did a big blog on here, last year if that might help too.
