Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

You would think, considering the amount of work they did, they would have made the effort to get the paint somewhere near matching..
And I am not sure I would trust thr roof not to depart looking at the welding !!!

Welds don't necessarily have to look pretty as long as good penetration. Probably look a lot better when dressed down but you should see some of the welds in this bus that kvc did when extending the body and cutting down the wheel tubs....jade could do better

Ok so i got a few emails today telling me that my application to have the bus tested had been approved etc
Then one saying it was now ready for payment .... nothing to say how i did that

So I gave dvsa a call

Gets an advisor who says thats been an error and that its the wrong form 🤦‍♂️ and it was the form to remove from psv sheme i was to fill in

I told him that id originally filled in and was told by the tech team that it wasnt that form but the hgv 1st test form i had to fill in

I told him the hassle id had with the forms etc and having to get someone to fill it in and email back to me etc ....so he said at first about filling out the other form on my behalf and then he decided to phone the tech team while i was on the phone and ask them

So to cut a long story short the tech team confirmed the form ive submitted is the correct one and that the bus is no longer a bus but an HGV

So hes made the choice to bypass the computer and process it and ive paid for its first HGV test £91😭😭 and now i just phone the mot station when ready and take it down there for its test ...

Hopefully thats it now and i can get it tested next week buy he said to wait till monday or Tuesday just incase theres any issues arise from him bypassing it bit he thinks it should be ok.

Nice guy but even he says their systems are over complicated and unnecessary ...it should be simply a case of going to test centre and if it has seats its a bus if it don't its a van ...

Anyway im hoping it passes the bloody thing with minimal work required

Just caught up, Tam. If you need anything else printed/scanned or whatever, I've got a Mac computer with printer and scanner. I'm in Perth and intermittently "homeschooling" the grandkids in South Queensferry, so I pass Junction 3 on a regular basis if you need stuff collected/dropped off.

Mail me if you need anything.

So you've pre-paid the MOT?
Or is this the fee to change from a PSV to a HGV
How does the test station get paid?

Pre paid the mot according to that guy ...he says it goes to them anyway but if station tries to charge again id get a refund

Just a first HGV test so ive been told. Will find out when i phone to book it

Just seemed odd, no fee to change category.
I don't know if that was included or not as ive no idea what an hgv test costs. But either way as i understand it that was all thats to be paid.

He did say that the mot station may ask me to pay it again but that if they did i was just to phone dvsa back and id be refunded.

Im in quarantine till tuesday morning anyway so ill wait till then before i phone the mot station.

Ideally i need to empty all the wood etc out the back of it before i go for mot ...but you've to book a slot at the recycling centre and its saying cars , small and medium vans only 🤦‍♂️ this covid nonsense isn't half causing usually incompetent bodies to be even more useless. The recycling centre here is always a pita but at the minute its even worse. Ive no other way to get the stuff there as it would be about 10 trips in the car.

Test fee is £76.

From Monday got to make an appointment at our local tip also only allowed one visit a week going to be a PIA when doing jobs on the house.

Expensive but hire a Skip..Had to have four of them when we emptied our aunt's house,,it's only money Lenny,,🤣🤣 BUSBY.

Im planning to use Kingspan sheets , 50mm on roof and sides , 25mm on floor ...and probably spray foam inside all the cavities. Dont want to use anything that can hold moisture,
you probably already know the spray foam that you put in the gun doesn't cause expansion pressure anywhere near as much as the disposal ones , therefore not causing the swelling you sometimes get

So that looks like possible a £25 fee to dvsa ...

Ours will allow 3 visits a week but ..both mine and mums cars are tiny and mine isnt on the road yet anyway.

Its a pain but i guess theres nothing inside a van or the boot involved in an mot anyway so it might not matter for now.
I might just make an appointment and turn up with it and if they turn me away ( which seems pointless ) then i at least tried .

Don't know what difference the size of van makes

Where i planned to use it im not sure it could push panels out anyway this thing is like an armoured car lol ...

You need to ask if the test station will supply the weights for test FOC when you book the test or if they want the load already in there and securely tied down .
I reckon when they see it it will come under the excemptions due to small doors etc ...theres no rear doors on this so not easy to load it

I couldn't believe the price of those Hippo bags when I looked at them
Like I said skip works out cheaper, you see a lot of small business people using them I think they must have much lower contract rates as a one off they are silly money.
