Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Just reading the covid restrictions in uk and Scotland i actually wonder if the guy will be able to deliver that bus start of march ....i wont bother bringing it up with him just now and just wait and see but what a bloody carry on.

Its going to be fun getting home when i need to

Read on Instagram last night too a german guy fined in france for trying to drive home from spain .... apparently france is transit only and in 24 hours which is ridiculous and dangerous to be honest.
I had a motorhome driven up from Cheltenham to Lanarkshire a couple of weeks ago. Guy had all the paperwork to prove that was his business if he was stopped.

Yes hopefully he won't have any problems. It saves me the hassle of trying to collect it as i found out i cant actually drive it at the minute as it has more than 16 seats. Its also out of test and tax from end of February so everything crossed it goes to plan.

I think the secret right now is to heat the person not rhe surroundings so extra layers, dogs and hot water bottle up jumper, hot chocolate , snuggle down in bed- with that lot you might even manage the tv too.:cold::cold:

Yes once the vans heated up a bit thats the plan lol ...bed with hotwater bottles and ill watch something on my tablet instead .

The weather certainly changes quick, I was thinking about putting our heating on, as its dropped down to 20•9°c in our apartment tonight, and it's only 15•1°c outside.

But now we have showered and put our dressing gowns on it's not so bad, so probably won't bother, 😉 maybe have a cuddle as it's valentine's day. 😁 Bob.

Heatings on but its pants when youve to choose between heating or tv ....my batteries cant cope with both it seems ☹️. This time next year ill be sat cosy as anything with my logburner going

Not enough sun or driving to charge them. If charged they should cope easily.

Yes ill ask when booking it ....not sure what happens with dogs on this one ...
If its Miloan lines dog kennels on the top deck that you have access to, you walk them on deck and the crew constantly hose it down.

No sun for a couple of days but drove about 2.5 hours today and they were at 98% 12.8v when i parked up ....but with heating on they down at 12.3v

Last night no heating on just tv and when i went to bed they were 12.1v ....this morning despite no sun 12.6v ... put heating on for 20 minutes 11.9v 🤷🏻‍♂️
Im fed up with it ...

The vario will be getting lithiums and a b2b fitted. The batteries in this just aint reliable

Your batteries may not be as bad as you think. In the evening you are looking at on load voltages which will be lower than the off load voltage which is what we measure the state of charge by.

If you have got a faulty battery probably worth connecting only one in circuit at a time to see if one if faulty and dragging the other one down.

Not keen on leaving them in kennels they won't like that
I'm probably more hard-hearted than many of today's pet-owners but I have always believed in teaching both my horses (in the past) and my dogs that they couldn't always be with me or in their normal home surroundings.
My horses would stand patiently tied anywhere i put them while separated from their companin/ pasture mate from 4 to six hours. I have brought up my dogs from puppies to be accostomed to my leaving them unattended for several hours at a time.
If they are accostomed to this gradually and given an item of my clothing , a familiar blanket and maybe a "kong^ to help pass the time and particularly if they are in shared or adjoining crates/kennels they hopefully will be confident to wait patiently until such times as I return without becoming stressed.
I think returning "to check on tbem" frequently disturbs and excitesthem giving them false hope of being reunited with their human abd renewed disappointment when left once again.
A dog left alone, undisturbed will usually after an initial short period settle down and sleep.

Yeah they are fine being left alone in their own van but the reason i always use the tunnel is because i know they would be distressed left on their own in a cold strange environment for any length of time and the ferry from igoumenitsa to Ancona is 20 hours long ☹️

Yes it's a difficult one, but sometimes we/they need to do difficult things. I don't know if they would be allowed to share a kennel, if so I would do that and give them a couple of dirty tshirts/sweaters of yours to snuggle in.
I would make sure they had a good feed several hours (4 or 5 hrs.) before embarking and encourage them to have a poo abd pee stop as bear embarkation as possible by giving them some exercise/playing ball etc.
Once on board i would install them in their kennel, stay with them as long as possible, then assuming the kennels are provided with water I would leave and not go near again until disembarkation.
Neither they nor you will enjoy it, but they will survive and be overjoyed to see you again. Once back together tgey will not bare a grudge and won't think about it again unless and ubtil a repeat situation should arise.

Wow it's one extreme to another with your weather! I never thought you'd be in snow. We'll probably be back on the chunnel a similar time to you. Warmer route sounds like a good plan.

Getting some proper warm weather here now so everyone's happy again.

Im starting to think that way with regards to most direct route. Its trying to do whats the safest and the cheapest without being involved in quarantines etc ...id still stay in greece till end of February at least but not sure i want to risk staying much longer than that incase of complications.

Also trying to plan dog situation for future so id have liked to get their rabies boosters etc done so as to keep their passports
Ferry to Ancona ....then drive to Aosta through Aosta Vally...6/7 hours..through Mont Blanc Tunnel than dash through France to Channel Tunnel 10 Hours

Just checked my battery voltage on panel this morning so theyve been resting through the night with nothing switched on 12v on the nail yet the panel reads 96% 🤷🏻‍♂️ i thought 12v was discharged.

That was approximately 3.5 hours of heating on last night and 2 led lights ...nowt else and they were reading 12.8v when i parked up.

Never had them lower than 75% on the panel but the voltage goes below 12v quite often.
I dont get the panel's connection between volts and percentage.

I want to go through germany rather than france ....dont like France and i want to sort doggy passports in germany.

Yeah even the locals are confused by it ....it can literally go from being 20° one day to 7 or 8 the next.
