Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Just had a visit from a greek man on a scooter ....he brought us a Christmas biscuit and stayed for a chat .... nice old fella he speaks english greek french and german ....says he owns a tavern about 2km up the road and in normal times has around 8 or 10 camper spaces to park when he is open But this has been a very bad year .....lucky he says he has greek gold ( olives) so he has been busy with that ....
I think covid has hit this region hard .... probably why all the locals are still happy to see us around

Its very windy today but still around 22° ive had all the windows open on Toby and all the throws and cushions outside to give it a good airing ....

Helped the dogs to open their Christmas pressies ...i think they have enough to eo them 6 months 😁View attachment 451215
Time you got a new thermometer Tam.

It’s accurate for my area, so can’t see why it isn’t where you are.
Ive seen my phone weather app telling me its 18° while im sat being burned by the sun. The weather forecast can only ever be an estimate as it changes all the time. Its around 16° here now but mostly due to the wind and the fact the sun has gone down but the weather app still says 18°

The true temp on the weather app will usually be a bit less than the van thermometer or temperature probe as it's the temperature recorded in the shade. When the van or you are sat in the sun with the van metal absorbing heat from direct sun it records a lot higher. I've compared my temp probe to the van one by placing it in an area of deep shade and it's several degrees less always and usually quite similar to what the weather apps predict.

My van temp today was showing 28.5 inside , 25° outside , weather app showing 19° and skin showing burning lol.
But the temp gauge outside the ferry port showing 22.5 so thats what i went with

Those always read high same as the pharmacy ones in Europe. It's supposed to be 4 over night tonight here 🥶

Technically a white Christmas in the UK. As in 3 snowflakes were recorded on some bowling green somewhere.

I think the criteria for declaring a white Christmas should be changed. Dunno what it could be though?

Maybe if a farmer in the Peak District gets his John Deere stuck in a snow drift it's officially a white Christmas.

Or if more than 12 people slip on their arse walking up Edinburghs Royal Mile the bookies will pay out on a white Christmas.

Let's highjack tams thread with any other suggestions

Its next month that might be different as January is rumoured to be wet in greece but will see. Im just heading in now to chill with the dogs and watch a movie before bed.

The lamb dinner was good as was the rest of the chestnuts some halloumi and red wine ....coffee now and baclava before an early night

Moving tomorrow to the petrified forest

You sound like youve had a lovely day. no drone up for xmas day footage?

Those biscuits are called kourabiedes Easter weddings and Christmas but i prefer mellomcaronia which is a much sweeter Christmas treat.

Overall I'd say yes but keep it quiet as i plan to come back next year and dont want it mobbed 😁 ....with covid its obviously a little different and not getting a chance to have lunch in taverna's and see the local sights etc but the peloponnese is beautiful and every local I've met have been friendly and welcoming.... and yes there are lots of other vans about and nearly everyone chats etc even the grumpy german from the last place mellowed out after a day or 2 lol
Can't believe im half way through my trip already
Might have to have a convoy hun, I want to go now. Never entered my head before you went there!

Moved on this morning and now just arrived in the geopark of saint nikolaos ... surprised that all the supermarket, minimarkets etc are open today ...the bin lorries are all out in force ...nothing stops here for Christmas ... bit of a dirt track to get here and have to do the last few km on foot so just having a coffee before we head off to see the fossilised forest ...
