Interesting that some of them appear to be large stately homes rather than how I would expect a castle to look. But the Cambridge dictionary states that a castle is:
”a large strong building, built in the past by a ruler or important person to protect the people inside from attack”
so they all fulfil that criteria

The last one for today ...and the last of the 7 as the old castle of ansembourg is inaccessible due to being privately owned by the current count of ansembourg who has big gates at the nearest access road and no pedestrian or vehicle access.
So the last one is mersch castle

Nice quiet location in the castle grounds .... Luxembourg has castles every few miles ..for such a small country it's ridiculous...

My favourite is the castle at Schoenfels. It looks like a Scottish castle. I also like the dragon sculpture. Surprisingly it’s quite modern - 1997.

Having watched Blue Peter in its prime, I'm sure there was an episode where you could convert your 2 or 3 bed semi in to a castle like this with some egg and cereal boxes with a bit of sticky back plastic.

Yes that's my second stop tomorrow after Beaufort ...hoping to get the drone out for them ..but depends on the weather
