If you use a satnav have you checked that all the countries are in it ?

Got a Garmin as a present 18 months ago - thought all European maps would be in - found out when I got to Poland - no map !

Campsites are normally the biggest outlay so a massive saving there to start with.
Yeah ...I may be forced to use the odd one in Croatia etc ...but will see
I think fuel is probably my biggest expense when travelling as I tend to move a lot rather than parking up for weeks at a time etc.... ..I would probably eat out more if I had someone with me but not so keen when on my own and I'm a rare breed of motorhomer because I don't drink a lot lol

The Tom Tom I've not checked but the cheap Chinese one has 40 odd countries in it apparently

Yeah we're rarely out of bed before

We bumped into a young couple a week or so back and they said they had just wild camped in Croatia. We asked because of hearing on here how you couldn't but i guess if you're sensible with where and how you park and off season it might be doable.

Yeah there are literally hundreds of spots showing on park4night so will see when I'm there. I'd also heard folk saying you couldn't wild there but heard others on Facebook groups before saying they had .....so If there are other vans doing it then I'll just follow suit... I don't mind one or two neighbours .. I just don't like spots with loads of vans.

A much nicer day today ....as soon as I drove out of Dinant the sun came out .....we are on a bit of a castle hunt today so we stopped at one just a few miles out of Dinant for a few pics ..." Chateau de veves"

Unfortunately you can't access the grounds so only views of the front and one side ....but it's a lovely looking castle .and you can park overnight in the carpark ...we didn't as moving on but the coordinates etc are below.

We wild camped all around Croatia without the benefit of Facebook, park4night or other internet recommendations. We didn't have them 8 years ago. It was easy to find places to stay at that time, except I did once try to park in a minefield (I didn't see the skull and crossbones signs) and another time I hopped out of the cab and landed a couple of inches from a hissing snake!
The campgrounds on the edge of Dubrovnik and Split are very expensive and have long queues for the laundry - also expensive.
Also, Croatian drivers are reckless. Beware on the coastal roads, they'll try to overtake on hairpin bends.

Stopped here for lunch ...and a walk round the manmade lake

It was rather spiffing ...my first venture in to a shop since I left home.

Got some lovely ham and a box of Belgian chocolate biscuits 😜

Stopped here for tonight at Arlon ...official Aire with all services including free electric
I don't normally bother but have hooked up so I can give all my drone batteries a charge on 240 plus my beard trimmer , electric toothbrush etc ...may aswell 😁
I was lucky to get the last space as the other 4 are taken by what I'm guessing to be long-term squatters lol ...one has a tarpaulin over the roof and another has a large horsebox type trailer. Found that last year in Belgium the places with electric get abused.

We have just been discussing and we cannot remember any Aires where we have stopped where there has been free electricity. Maybe we have not looked as we normally do not need or use EHU, because of B2B.

Geoff
There seems to be quite a few in Belgium and Luxembourg ... I needed it last winter on the way home but only using it today because it's there ...my batteries were full when I arrived ..but I've not been using heating yet so very light use in the evening at minute.

Decided to take a walk in to Arlon....I had googled the town and nothing really of interest came up but thought we would go for a wander anyway .....it's quite unnerving because all round this town there were signs saying to wear masks and nearly everyone was ....wearing them walking outside and even in their cars ...but not inside the bars and restaurants which seems bizarre ....anyway I hadn't taken mine with me as did not intend to go indoors anywhere so it was a quick look around the old church I believe is 16th century and then scurried back to toby.

Nice old building though ....I bet BreweryDave will like it ...😉

This is a photo of the Aire ....the guy who has the horsebox trailer went out with his MH just before we went for a walk ...he had the van nosed in to the trailer so he pissed around turning it ,hitching the trailer on and dragging it forward to keep his space ...now he's returned and did the same messing around hitching up moving the trailer then unhitching turning van around putting all 4 wheels on ramps etc ...engine has been on and off about 6 times now .....I wonder if folk realise just how annoying they are. Probably on route to Spain to park up at la azohia or cullera for 6 months lol ....
Spoke to the old couple in the burstner to the left of me ...well nodded and said bonjour etc ...they just arrived today also but I think the other 3 are well past their 48 hours lol especially the one with the tarpaulin that has various buckets under it catching fluids.

The Aire is provided by the fire and ambulance service here ....round the corner is either the left overs from recent accidents or practice vehicles ...although the white one does have blood all over the inside ☹️

We’re sitting at an aire in France near Basel that is documented as having a €5 charge but the credit card machine has been blocked off as has the borne (covid?). However we still get free electricity, grey and black water dump, just no fresh water.
