I think the kennel prices have got completely out of hand.£7/night is plenty for any dog to be charged.

Thanks for the replies - I have today emailed pettravel@alpha.gov.uk for clarification as to the suitability of Oscar's Titre Test taken in 2009, and the fact that it was 22 days (not 30) between the rabies vaccination and the blood sampling, as that was the DEFRA guideline at that time. Looking back on his passport, in 2010 you also had to get the european vet to administer flea treatment prior to returning to the UK.
Update - the email address above is no longer accepting emails! Back to the drawing board ..................
It's entering the EU after 31 December when you will need to comply with the new regulations. If you enter on 27 December you will be fine. There are no checks between countries after that so it doesn't matter if you don't reach Spain before 1 Jan providing you arrived in say France before this date.Hypothetical question - if your dog had a rabies booster on the 21st September, then had the Titre blood test on the 22nd October (so 31 days after the booster), could you then travel to Europe say, on the 27th December (so before the 31.12.20 deadline) without AHC from the UK? I'm thinking that if you left the UK on 27th December, you could be in Spain before the 01.01.21 deadline, therefore borders in France & Spain have already been crossed. Even though you didn't wait 3 months after the blood test, if you were already in Europe at 31.12.20, surely the "old" rules apply?
Not getting any response from DEFRA & emails are bouncing back
Trouble is, the dog hasn't got any money..I think the kennel prices have got completely out of hand.£7/night is plenty for any dog to be charged.
UPDATE - emails to this address keep being returned, so can only assume that it is not being monitored. Further investigations by yet another Vet in our area (but one who we feel is the most competent) state that at least 30 days must have elapsed between the rabies innoculation and the Titre test, so Oscar has had another rabies booster & will be having a blood (Titre) test 32 days later. It's almost like going through the whole pet passport scheme again. I'll report back when (if!) I get a response

We were told that it would take 4 weeks to get the serology results back but we received them within 2 weeksThe Vet has advised that the Titre test results take around one week, so watch this space...................
You can go out with your current pet passport, prior to the 31st December, and get back in anytime in 2021 without a titre test.its getting out after the 31st Dec that the titre is required, not getting back into the uk.Don’t even start me! We have a tunnel booked for Christmas we now can’t use as our vet told us we didn’t need the booster first, then changed their mind four weeks later when we tried to book the test. I knew I should have insisted when I told them initially! Now we haven’t enough time.
Oh well, I suppose the way Covid is going it won’t matter....

The rules are very clear so I'm not sure why you don't comply with them and your spring tip can then go ahead? Get the titre test done and you will be able to travel. If there are any last minute changes to the rules they will be to relax them, so again you are good to go.It appears many of the rules are still to be decided.
Megs passport is full after our trip in July so needs a new one. Both dogs need a rabies booster next year.
We are holding off till the rules are clear even though it means a trip in the spring can't happen.
I cant see how complicating the rules is in the EUs interest so it will only be sulking if they change things. It will only reduce tourism, maybe only by a little, but still not a benefit to them.
Just got back this week from a month travelling around France and Germany. We have the pet passport which shows the dog’s rabies jab is up to date and visited a vet in Germany the day before we traveled home for the worm tablet. That is all you need. All this titre test thing and the fit to travel thing are made up, false, scare stories.
You need up to date rabies and the visit to a vet between one and five days before return. That’s it.
Just had a successful titre test done on our dog Clover who had her rabies jab in January, so you may be o.k. with Bertie's test.Just had our two dogs titre tested 4 days ago @ £120 each ..but Bertie who is nearly 2yrs old had a yearly rabies booster end of January will prob need to be done again alas
Tom who is nearly 6yrs old had a 3yr jab at the same time so fingers crossed he is good
But Bertie the vet claimed was so wriggly they had to shave him in 3 different places as they couldn't get the needle insucceeded with under the chin spot
