Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

I’ve deactivated my V2 today in preparation for re registration in France on Sunday/ Monday.
Fingers are crossed that it’s as easy as it sounds.

Other than the issue with everything being tied to Pacific Standard Time, it was straightforward! Did you send an email to yourself so the ‘new owner’ can setup easily?

Can you take screen shots of the process please .....and share them?

I suggest that you have all the information. Address ect written down in front of you ready. Make sure you have deleted all the previous information on your starlink account and app. Otherwise it will get messy. Turn off vpn if you have it.

I bought the mini last week from Darty. So set up was similar to buying from third party.

Eventually I set it up on my wife’s phone to avoid any problems. Initially I had problems with it dragging up my gen 2 account that was active so I decided to just use her phone.

Turned on Starlink mini and connected to the WiFi. It gave me up to 1 hour to complete registration.
I clicked on the globe and selected France. It was in French but not hard to understand the process

Select roam. Then address input with department. I made payment with clarity card. It went straight through no problem.

My gen 2 is now available to move and I will try a Spanish set up on the 9th February

All good here Harvey, busy packing.

I think the reference is to the Musk/Starmer/Labour shenanigans going on Twitter maybe at present.
More that madman Musk can spout whatever lies he wants and call it free speech so now I can do the same

We are now up and running as a French customer at €72 per month.
I do wish I read (and spoke) better French as that would have made it easier.

You can choose English on the web site even though you’re activating for Spain or France.
Interesting

When I set up the mini in France on English it gave me British prices.

Changed it to French and French prices

Yes as I’ve said before, it defaults to UK pricing but a couple of steps on in the process and it reverts to the correct currency and pricing! ✔️

Still love Starlink… speed test in SE Spain on Spanish service a few mins back!

Just for information.
The Starlink mini purchase from France and set up with random French campsite address worked perfectly for the month in France and now Spain.
It is paused from today.
So I’ve got the gen 2 back out. Last month the customer service guy when I spoke with him said that as it’s now totally removed from my account I can reuse my details when I re register.
This did cause a problem today as it was still in the system obviously but I was able to use my original email and phone number. Payment was taken €81 and the Starlink worked and set up ok until I tried to log in. The system kept me on the UK account and not showing payment taken.
After a panic and a deep breath I tried a forgot password reset off the conformation email they sent on payment. This time the old account came up but underneath was the new account number as well. I
Selected that and it shows the payment and new details.

So happy days I’ll run this for the month we have in Spain now leaving my 60 days out of country free.
Restarting the mini as we move back into France 8th March also resetting the 60 days for that.
When we return home for the summer we will have 120 days to use at a much cheaper rate with a return to Europe in sept to reset

Hope this helps anyone considering the same workaround

Exactly what I plan on doing. I’m in month three in Spain (previous UK fish) now and just paid the third Spanish charge. Will have the French (previously UK) dishy set up and running from late August when we head back out… will use that for two months then switch over to the Spanish one again. It’s a faff but worth it! ✔️

Reuters report that US* are threatening to switch off Ukraine's Starlink access if they don't do a deal on minerals - I think I'll be cancelling my plans to buy...

*not that I believe anything said by any US state representative at the moment
I don't believe it .... As a similar aged person once said.

Starlink is not controlled by the US ... Is this more of just an attack on the Musk and Trump relationship?

I believe the threat has been made but doubt it has any credibility.

Starlink is not controlled by the US
Perhaps not, but it is controlled by, arguably, the most influential person in US politics (if not the US government)

an attack on the Musk and Trump relationship
Surely no-one can deny that verbal bullying is a proven element of the duo's (and their entourage's) current modus operandi?

Thankfully it is generally pretty impotent, so we will all stop listening/believing eventually.

PS. I will leave it there to avoid hi-jacking this useful thread.
