Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

Not my best weekend on the technology front.
Starlink was working well until mid tv program it disconnected never to be seen again.
Back home and testing found that the dc-dc convertor providing a stable 12v to the dishy dualie pcb had failed.
Bypassed the faulty unit and fed 12v from EBL directly to the dishy dualie without any improvement.
Measured incoming 12v @ 13.1 with no load, connect to the dualie and it drops to 2-3v irrespective of any load on the board I.e. Starlink and router connected or not.
Tested the dc-dc unit again and this now outputs a few mv.
Not sure what caused the issue or which unit failed or if one failed and took the other with it?
Emailed boondocker in Canada and they immediately shipped a replacement pcb without question - my suspicious mind thinks they may have seen this issue already - or is it just good customer service? Tracking says delivery due by 22nd.
New convertor ordered today.

In the meantime I'm going to fit an RJ45 onto the original Starlink router and try that, if I can get my reversed cable connections the right way around, although my Starlink subscription has now expired for this month so will be another £85 to test it, that may have to wait until shortly before next trip away I think.

Not to worry I thought, just revert to normal Teleco satellite in the meantime. Last used in France in September. Found that the dish is constantly rotating, looking and failing to lock onto a satellite.

Spoke to a few companies without any success until Anthony @Oystertech directed me to one of his dealers. No updates outstanding so its a suspected faulty LNB - new one ordered and arriving today. Hopefully that will fix that issue.

Don't you love technology!

That is concerning as just having 2 wires run today directly from the leisure battery to power my dishy dualie that i received just before xmas, good to see they are sending out replacements but not good that they are failing already. Debating now whether to leave it on 230v to avoid the hassle as had zero issues whilst away in Spain over xmas for the 20+ days.

I love that Boondocker can send you a replacement dualie when I'm still waiting for the first one I ordered in September!
Interesting that they are sending out spares but not the actual orders

Yep, just finishing wiring mine up too!!!

Are you wiring in a switch just out of interest to control the power?
I did on mine as the starlink is relatively power hungry so no point in running it 24/7 if not in use

I ordered mine 14 July it arrived in December, as by then I had it all wired and fitted using the starlink router, l can't muster the enthusiasm to fit it.

Yes I am wiring a switch. 10A remote job to switch off the supply to the 12v router and Dishy power via the dualie.

I hope that the board failure for Bustup15 is a one off… pleased the vendor responded so positively too! ✔️

I will when I put it back together

Just found this from previous post before it was tidied off if it helps. The pcb is in the box with the 3 way switch. 12v psu is the silver fins above and the blank plate has the incoming 12v from ebl to psu

excellent thanks, very neat setup.

Hi, have finally bit the bullet and spliced my starlink cable so I now have 2 manageable lengths that can be re attached should I require a longer lengths due to obstructions.

watching this thread with enthusiasm, since converting my router to 12v, my next plan is to change it all again and to convert Dishy itself into a 12v system (as mentioned in an earlier thread), my problem is that ive got that many bloody jobs on the list, i just cant get round to it yet - i am also another one of hose who 'invested' in a second Dishy when they were £99 - so it doesnt bother me if it takes a while, as i have a spare to use if we go away, albeit on 240v (via inverter if not on EHU)

keep the ideas and suggestions coming in so we can all learn which way suits each of us, we all have different needs/wants, so no one way is the ONLY way!

I’m now running on 12v with a TP 12v router. The router & starlink seem to drawing around 3.5-4.5 amps @13.5-14v battery voltage, which I’m pretty happy with. Great speed with the new router too! ✔️

So the kit is the dualie/Everlanders board, an Everlanders housing printed by zac, Yoesheng starlink to Cat cable converter, a generic x to x (buck) power supply to give a constant/smooth 12v to the router, TP Link router, generic 10A DC wireless switch to power the system up and down.

Router link if anyone is interested. TP-Link Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 Mbps Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router, OneMesh™ Supported, Dual-Core CPU, HomeShield, Ideal for Gaming Xbox/PS4/Steam, Compatible with Alexa (Archer AX53) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09TPKT929/?tag=mhf04-21

One further thing to mention, even with the router in the media locker in the MoHo, I’m getting this 300mb+ speed. Previously I had to mount the starlink router ‘on show’ and it was crap speed compared to the TP.

Currently in SE Spain…

The main thing I wanted was decent signal propagation around the outside of the Motorhome. Well the TP router has really delivered on this too, even 20m away on an iPhone 15, I see 150-200mb outside the Motorhome. Very pleased with this. 👍🏻

I have the same problem, sharing the signal from my static caravan to my sons 4 meters away next door, drops to around 20mb. tried the starlink mesh...same !

If you are using the starlink router. Then get the Ethernet adapter and run a cat 5 cable to his static. Then in his static have a wifi router if he needs it.
Will give you the best speed if this is practical.

I’m far from an expert on routers, like a million miles from expert, but I’m very pleased with the performance of the TP Link one I’ve installed. It’s also sold as the Archer… relatively modestly priced and definitely propagates far better than the standard Starlink one! ✔️

I blew the same router up using a buck x to x convertor as some how the buck after i set the voltage to 12v changed which i have no idea how as the dial is so tiny and it was in a printed case but result was router would not boot anymore.

Fingers crossed mine behaves itself. 🤞

It's odd that the expected delivery is 22nd. Left BC on the 9th and it was Heathrow clearing centre on the 11th - what takes so long to get it from Heathrow to Newcastle?

Great new deal out I saw on BookFace.
Been posted already, they started offering refurbs just before xmas, its a pretty good price considering there is not much that they can do to refurb one so most are going to look like new.
