Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

As we now have full fibre at home I have just sold my mk2 setup on eBay for £360.
It did include a wall bracket and ethernet adaptor.
Pleased with the return on the original investment of £99 + £35 + £70 = £204 (y)

I wish I had bought a few more @ £99.
So after eBay fees you'll see about 9.99 GBP back then... LOL

Carpmart

I only sell when it’s “80% off selling fees”. So the fees were a reasonable £10.01 🙂

First 'real' test of Starlink. Away for a few days to visit Alde and get a service.
Powered up before leaving home and left on whilst driving - 4 hour trip.
Parked up last night about 5 - absolutely teamed down all night. Streamed and binge watched TV with no issues, at midnight Internet disconnected and I couldn't reconnect with any device, despite rebooting everything.

Powered off and went to bed, this morning it's all back on - anyone else had this?

Have you set sleep mode? This shuts Starlink down between certain hours to conserve energy. ✔️

Whilst you’re in setting checking sleep mode, make sure you’ve turned snow melt off too! Unless, of course, you’re somewhere with snow! 🤣

Good shout.

Snow melt was set to automatic
Sleep schedule - can't access through the app, it says 'connect to Starlink locally to update schedule ' and is grayed out?
Tried looking on the website but there is no option to change sleep schedule there.
I'm not using the starlink router if that makes a difference?

Bummer - the 12v router that i 'bought' from ebay didnt arrive, so have received a full refund - now to find another suitable 12v router !!

I'm using the GLi Net GLA1300 seems to be ok and very compact. Powered by usb

Bustup15

is that the 'mango' version?

Not particularly useful in the UK. But I can see some really useful circumstance/situations where it would be brilliant.

Could someone check what the default Sleep screen looks like and what it defaults to.
Anyone who has changed their router- can you access and modify sleep mode?
I'm wondering if it's controlled by the router?

Power usage on 12v modification

Out of interest and NOT scientifically measured but I estimate power requirement has reduced by about 15-20% since converting to 12v.

It's still power hungry at about 3.5A with heating and fridge on gas, some led lights on, iphone charging, 32 inch TV, soundbar, usb router, 12v psu, starlink and convertor pcb all running.

It's impressive as we're currently parked at one of our favourite pub stop overs that has no terrestrial TV reception and no mobile signal but starlink giving 169Mbps down and 17 up.

So sleep mode is not enabled then as you are not using the starlink router if i am reading that correctly. Must be an issue somewhere else

I suspect it is enabled, and now it's locked in. Need to reconnect the original to change?
If I'm awake at midnight I can check

Bustup15 - I suspect you need to connect the original router and then slide the slider left in the app to disable sleep mode.

Should be good after that.

I’m going to bolt all my 12v parts together next week… hope I have all I need as I’m on site in Spain. If not will be running on mains until June!

Yes, that's my thoughts. But, as I didn't even know there was a sleep mode I assume it's there in default?

Now need to make a reversed connection on the original cable - I'm sure I left a decent length (just in case) and get another RJ45 through connector :-(

mine came with sleep default set at 'off', snow was on automatic but I have just turned that off.
On the starlink router snow & sleep are under 'settings' then change 'router' to 'starlink' & in there .no idea when router is changed

As a side note to those that are into 3D printing, Ive just took delivery of the following.

Bambu X1 Carbon Combo.

View attachment 851079

What a machine and I'm now able to print in up to 4 colours.
I had one but unfortunately had to send it back, are you aware they are releasing a new flagship printer on Feb 5 2024?
It has won quite a lot of awards the X1C
Print the surround for the LED's so you can put a strip of LEDS all around the top which makes a huge difference when printing and viewing, its Broken Link Removed well worth it

Can't see the new one being much different to be honest aside from maybe having those new easy swappable hot ends.
