Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

Interesting. Seems like the new one would be an easier roof mount. No cutting up the hardware but what about the positioning?
Exactly, it says you have to rotate it with help from the app. I'll be in no rush to change until the Guinea Pigs have finished their work!

Yes, what I have with the existing dish works, bit of a pain to get it out and set it up. Seems like things are already moving along and a roof mount is going to become pretty easy to achieve

Starlink question

Though I’d ask on this thread. Previously I had turned on my refurbished starlink to test and was charged immediately for the month despite not wanting to use the service only test equipment worked.

Anyway it worked ok and they have credited me a month. So all good.
My question relates to stop/start. So when I turn on again say 8th January I then get charged for the month from that date. We are going for 30 days starlink then runs to 7th February. I only want the month so I will stop it straight away. Getting charged for the month. ? Is this correct?

If in May we then go away on the 20th of the month. Can I start the starlink for the next month on the 20th or is it that mine would be stuck at the 8th. Of the month as first time used on the 8th?

no, your roam billing cycle will then always be the date of the month you activated starlink (not roam ) as far as Im aware, cant be changed
so
if you activated Starlink on the 20th of a month, your Roam billing cycle will also start on the 20th of each month

Mine always reverts to a renewal date of the 7th irrespective of when I reactivate the service each time. Presumably the date I first activated Starlink.

So you may need to pay for 4 months to cover a 3 month holiday because of the contract starting date. Additional costs to consider then

Yes.

Personally, If I didnt have someone else living at home Id use it at home all the time and just take it away with me , making it better value, but then I am a heavy internet user due to work.

Yes.
Will have to take that into consideration when starting up Starlink or planning holiday trips to start around contract starting date would work

Turning the dish and router on does not start the billing off. This has to be done from the account now you've activated it.
Also when not using it for a few months be prepared for a load of firmware updates when you next use it

Just started another flat mount print on my Creality K1 Max using ASA.

Mount.jpg

Nice! Is this similar to Everlanders flat mount? How many hours printing? Will ASA sikaflex to the roof okay?
Its not the asa or abs or petg that sticks to the roof. It's the aluminium angles so any will work.
The print looks to be Everlanders from photo.

It did for me? I turned it on around 1pm & was billed at 9,15pm Never went near the account .

Never for me when I turned mine on. Nothing worked till I went into the account and reactivated it.
Was it the first time you used it as that's different as that's classed as activating it but if you then stop it nothing should work till you actually reactivate on your account.

No, that’s not correct.

When activating the service, you pay pro-rata for the days remaining in that ‘month’. When terminating (pausing) the service you pay for the full month irrespective of how many days remain to the end of that billing period.

In other words, if you un-pause on the first day of the billing period then you will pay for a full month and if you un-pause on the last day of the billing period then you will pay a pro-rata proportion (i.e. for one day) for that ‘month’. Irrespective of which day you subsequently pause the service, you will pay for the full month.

So, in your example, you’d pay for three full months plus a pro-rata amount for the first part-month.

Yes its his mount because I plan to use the Tv antenna hole and use that with a gland system and put the mount over the top fixed down with Sikaflex.

Don't use the Tv antenna so why drill another hole.

Correct but a good wedge of white stuff should seal it securely to the roof and keep it watertight.

Print time varies per part but as an example see below.

That explains it, once you stop it if needed it will then only work once you reactivate it. You can turn the router and dish on and it will not start the billing again. No point though as the Internet won't work of course.

Its an enclosed printer.
