My mifi unit aerial is bolted to the roof so useful when travelling and single night stops when getting dishy out and set up is a faff after driving most of the day. Struggling by on 7mps on phone network, just drives iPlayer on my tablet.Another happy camper that shows you that dumping those SIM card wifi boxes to the bin pays off.

Our Adria side locker has mains, 12 volt and usb power built in. Adria thoughtfully put three cut outs in the locker door edge for cables. Ideal for mounting the router and VPN box inside with the aerial cable passing out through the door. So, now ours has arrived, what solution do people have for running the cables? We'll be setting ours up each time when we're on site and want to keep the floor stand for those occasions were pitched under trees.
I guess just passing the cable out a window is probably the simplest option and is unlikely to damage the cable if we keep the window on breather. I'd prefer to run it out of the garage, but I think the door seal would likely damage the cable? What do people do?
So you should now be able to.log in and change to roam if required.Just got a notification that they are going to try delivering tomorrow. I will be surprised if they do, but wow.
I will be setting it up and testing it the second it arrives. I can't wait to have a play. Although I suspect in my current location the trees may have something to say about it.So you should now be able to.log in and change to roam if required.
Hopefully the evicted nest builder won't take out it's revenge on it!I will be setting it up and testing it the second it arrives. I can't wait to have a play. Although I suspect in my current location the trees may have something to say about it.
No worries! I appreciated your sense of humour - and that you re-posted the links!Revolvor Just re-read my post and realised I thought I was trying to be funny but it may not have come across that way. I was joking just in case it wasn't clear
Likewise. Message from DHL last night. I've already logged in, changed to Roam, and paused the service.Just got a notification that they are going to try delivering tomorrow. I will be surprised if they do, but wow.
I'm worried about the trees in our garden too.I will be setting it up and testing it the second it arrives. I can't wait to have a play. Although I suspect in my current location the trees may have something to say about it.
Once you change to Roam Yes, ie order wait for it to be dispatched then login to starlink and manage account and change service plan to Roam. They will charge you £4.42 as its slightly dearer on roam per month but after the change you can then go back in and Pause which will then give you 14 days to test it all out and no charge. I can confirm this works as i have done this on both of my systems.
Thanks, I'd seen that, but there is also reference in "Support" to a link to use your phone to scan the proposed installation site for obstructions. I just can't find it!I think the 'obstructions' part needs the Starlink to be left switched on for a couple of hours before it can make a proper assessment, based on one of the Everlanders YouTube video.
Out of interest what is the days power usage with the starlink?I know , but it’s brilliant ! I have a bit of power anxiety but we should be ok .I will update the thread . We are here for 3 nights . Let’s see what happens.
Thank you. I've just found out how to search for Obstacles. You have to begin the "Start Setup" process. It then tells you to take your mobile and scan the sky.In the app there is a Obstacles button. Im sure it was there prior to my Dishy going live. Maybe only appears later ??
You'll be surprised. Mine is pointing vertically to the sky most of the time and has minimal obstruction, even though trees surround me. Height makes a difference.Although I suspect in my current location the trees may have something to say about it.

So after reading all of this, I still can’t decide if it’s all about profit or just having the most satellites out there @GromettVariable. It’s determined by how much you use it and how many hours you have it off overnight.
I would estimate an average being 500-650wh
Roughly 50Ah day wow and that's switching it off at night.Variable. It’s determined by how much you use it and how many hours you have it off overnight.

The solar keeps up but obviously in winter this would be a struggle .Roughly 50Ah day wow and that's switching it off at night.

Sadly none of our lockers have such useful cut outsOur Adria side locker has mains, 12 volt and usb power built in. Adria thoughtfully put three cut outs in the locker door edge for cables. Ideal for mounting the router and VPN box inside with the aerial cable passing out through the door.
Ours is currently on the ground in the back garden which is pretty small and has some very large trees at the bottom of it. After leaving it on overnight the app is telling me that we are partially obstructed and can expect an interruption every 3 minutes. The manual scan with the phone camera showing something like 28% obstructed. But despite that we're still getting speeds in excess of 100mbI will be setting it up and testing it the second it arrives. I can't wait to have a play. Although I suspect in my current location the trees may have something to say about it.
get the ethernet adaptor and use a different router with a switch then it wont matter, this is simplest way without modifying anything ie cutting any cables etc, i will be ditching their router on mine when it goes into the motorhome. I already have a GL.iNet router spare so will likely use that or another one not decided yet but def not theirsOurs is currently on the ground in the back garden which is pretty small and has some very large trees at the bottom of it. The biggest challenge to my testing is that the Starlink router has a terrible wifi range. I'm sure it'll be fine in the motorhome but my office is the opposite side of the house and there are too many walls in the way for me to get a decent connection in my office.
Might be able to run it all day thenMy modus operandi is to always be away somewhere sunny during winter…. Problem solved!
it does, 6 hours for me back in the day....but its a bit of overkill for roam.I think the 'obstructions' part needs the Starlink to be left switched on for a couple of hours before it can make a proper assessment, based on one of the Everlanders YouTube video.
