Last time in Spain toll booths were being removed.
Now I hear, because of a EU directive, Tolls are being reintroduced on motorways.
What is the truth?
Anyone been driving there most recently who can say what is actually happening??
Thanks in anticipation.

When I signed up to the full tag was told over 3500 kgs would work in Spain and Portugal but not France. 4500 kgs& 2.95 M high.
I can only suggest that you try it; just don't go through a 30kph non-stop lane first time!

A reminder to those concerned about obtaining a Fulli tag for a vehicle that is less than 3m high but may not be sub 3500kg - don’t worry, in our experience if your moho looks like a Classe 2, you will be charged at that rate.

In fact we didn’t have one when I first applied for the Fulli Nomande Plus tag and used the registration details of Mrs Orion’s Kia Soul ‘go kart’. Then, when the moho arrived, simply changed the registration number in the Fulli app, which took all of a minute once logged on.

Our Adria is usually sold as a 3500kg van in the U.K. with a no cost option to spec it at 3650kg, which we took. It’s since been up plated to 4250kg but is outwardly identical to the 3500kg version.

It's also worth remembering that the idea of up-plating and down-plating vehicles is something at is (almost?) exclusively British.
Nearly all MoHo's in the EU are sold as 3500kg.

As there are also no public weigh bridges that can be used by MoHo owners, the vast majority of EU owner have not a clue of the actual weight of their vehicle.

Therefore, many MoHo's in the EU are overweight, and no one cares.

The vehicles are sold as a MoHo, it's plated at 3500kg, but, like all the others is probably closer to 4,000kg.

I met a German in Italy last year, identical van to mine, but with even more gear on board than we have.
I told him I was within 50kg of my plated weight of 3840kg, which made him about half a ton over his plated weight of 3500kg.
He had no idea at all! (And no way to prove it)

We are going down to Zaragoza and beyond very early February.

1) Get a toll tag? Wonder if it will arrive in time?

2) Hoof it and pay at booths?

We will have a motorcycle trailer on the back. Does that complicate things?

Fulli or emovis?

So many questions🙄
We have done the Santander to Bilbao run to Mazarron in the south of Spain a few times and only a small portion of the journey is toll. FULLi tag is an easy option and has worked well in Spain (and France)

I've just ordered a Fulli tag and they've given a delivery date of 15th Jan (3 days). We found our Emovis tag wouldn't work in our motorhome no matter what we did, Fulli says their tags are designed to work in motorhomes less than 3m tall. NB Good offer on Fulli at the moment.

I am trying to sign up the fulli tag but after scrolling through t&c, and ticking box it wont move on. Anyone else had problems?
Have tried on laptop with 2 different browsers and on the tablet, all with same result.
Bolti did you manage to solve this problem, I am having exactly the same issue and have tried everything to move the applicants the next phase all to no avail!!

In the French menu it’s listed as ‘Royaume Uni’.

You should be able to change the application form to English by clicking on the language button.

I had the same problem, managed to get it to work by downloading the app and register on that, although it only seemed to send me to the same webpage to register but this time it worked (android)

Yes it seemed like the problem was at their end. Came back to page after a few hours tried again and it worked.

What if you pay it as soon as the bill comes through, they can’t send bailiffs before you’ve had a chance to pay and as there is no sign at start of toll telling you you must have a toll badge then I don’t even think it would be right to charge you more.
They can’t send bailiffs without a court Judgement. Don’t be fooled by debt collection agents. If they turn up at your door without a court judgment tell them to get ont their bike.
PS The Spanish tolls were removed to improve movement of freight. As the EU funded the new roads when Spain became a full member Brussels wants its money back. The Spanish government are digging their heels in so watch this space. Don’t think they have any intention of introducing ANPR.

I tried this, had the same problem, switched it back to untranslated and it worked. Maybe I got lucky!

What a load of baloney,
Pay cash, £30 total from BILBAO to benidorm.
Mostly free. Use the motorways, not busy.
No tags needed.
Cheers
Why do you need to be so rude!!! You have no idea what people are planning or where they are going! So if you have nothing good to offer can I suggest you keep your unhelpful views to yourself.

Just driven down from Bilbao to Javea. One bit of tol road in the north but most everything else is toll free. Just use credit card. Easy driving, no worries.

We are in southern Spain now came all the way down from Perpignan no tolls down coast route. Then in the past week it appears quite a few of the toll motorways in the south have stopped the tolls. I saw on tv something about it then Waze which was set up to avoid tolls took us on a long stretch of toll route but it was all switched off.

Have no worries driving through Spain have done it plenty of times and am happy with the cost and payment methods, however , we are doing Portugal for the first time this year and given the advice from Funsters on here believe that it is best to get a Tag.

I’m not sure of how the companies charge but you suggest you just pay for what distance you use in the tolls.
Fulli Tag is in effect a 'pay as you go' cost.
If you don't use it there is no fee for use in France, Spain or Portugal (Excluding Italy)
(Although see the €2 cost in the post above for first entry into a country, which is news to me)

I tend not to use them but have paid at booths, or registered a card in Portugal in the past for 28 days.
The issue we found in Portugal was some roads have no toll booths, not tickets issued, and more concerningly no signs to say you are entering a toll road (Unless there was something in Portuguese that we missed)

I thought there was also other charges for example a monthly fixed fee every month or only the months you use it?
I don't know about other tag systems, but there is no extra costs on Fulli unless you go to Italy.

For Italy you pay €4.50 per month, plus the toll cost.
But you only need to pay for the period you are in Italy, and then cancel the Italy extension.
I think Fulli are currently offering 8 months in Italy free

What is Fulli’s full costs and any charges for currency conversion.
€10 up front. That is it.
If you have a €uro account there are no extra costs.
If you pay with a UK bank card it will be whatever YOUR bank charges you

I have a Santander account with no charges for currency conversions
No bank on the planet offers free currency conversion, despite what the adverts say.
The conversion cost is usually hidden in the conversion rate.

so whilst away just pay the international bank rate, can you pay by card or do you have to use a bank current account for direct debit?
They need a bank account number (IBAN number)
From memory they are fussy about the type of account.
I seem to remember there may be an issue with using only £ pounds accounts.

ACSI bill my credit card in euros and I just pay whatever the bank rate is at conversion
ACSI also offer a substantial discount is you pay in €uros!
I pay €14, the cost in GBP is £21.50

they are currently offering another tag to include Italy too.
Can’t find out about how to pay without processing a subscription

As always the payment method is last, you have to fill it all in first.

I would strongly recommend you get a €uro account.
It's easy enough, if a bit fiddly to set up initially.

But once done, it means no more mucking about with pounds and waiting for weeks for the bill to arrive with a load of extra changes.
It also means you can go to any ATM and get cash without the need to then pay extra.

At a time of your own choosing (such as last week when you would have got €1.21 to £1, down to €1.19 today) you transfer a lot of pounds to the Euro account, so you only pay one transaction fee. The €uros just sit in your account until you use them. No further costs.

There are a load of companies that offer Euro accounts.
Sterling is currently one of the best, but Revolut, Monzo, Wise, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, and other offer similar services. Just make sure they are allied to either Visa or Mastercard (and not Amex)
Halifax wouldn’t pay it when I got my first bill. Shame they don’t take credit cards.

We have an Emovis tag that covers France. Emovis sent an email a couple of months ago saying the tag would be updated to cover the new tollbooth free sections and they would send further email to make this change. Having received nothing further, I’ll give them a call on Monday about this, but wonder meanwhile if anyone has had their Emovis tag updated?

Really?? We are knee deep in weighbridges around here. Plenty of certificated standalone ones along with most building suppliers have one & will usually weigh you free of charge.I can think of 15 locally without even trying.
Nearly all MoHo's in the EU are sold as 3500kg.
No they aren't If they can get away with it they will be on any chassis from 3000kgs,3200,3300,3400,3500. Mines is on a 3300kgs
It's also worth remembering that the idea of up-plating and down-plating vehicles is something at is (almost?) exclusively British.
& is the same here .I can do it as a paperwork exercise fromm3300 to 3500 & even to 3850 kgs without any upgrades but here over 3500kgs seriously restricts your ability to sell any vehicle as the vast majority do not have a C1 licence. This is why refrigerated trucks are all mainly sold at 3500kgs & have no payload.
+I have no need at the moment as have 900 kilos even at 3300kgs
As the EU funded the new roads when Spain became a full member Brussels wants its money back.
No it isn't that.It is the eu wanting spain to repair the roads as at present the deficit for road repairs is approaching 10 billion euros & they wish them to pay for it by reintroducing tolls & also to make those with highest emissions/weights/ most kilometres, pay the most.

It's cheaper and easier to just not use the toll road lol.

In 7 years and over 60000miles throughout europe I think I've used toll roads less than 10 times in total.

Spain is a country where its particularly easy to avoid them and still enjoy a pleasant drive.
I just plot routes using google maps and tell it to avoid toll roads. Got me from Calais to Marbella in perfectly good time ...
