Rally Shrewsbury, messing about on the river 2-7 July

I'm not sure who is more excited or mutley

Took "Ursula" out for her first sea trials this afternoon, she performed better than expected  🦄

Looking forward to wild swimming escort duty :roflmto:

Cheers

Yes I saw you and her go passed our van but I can’t imagine in the time frame that you made it to the coast to perform sea trials!😂

Everyone in and parked up, big thanks to our volunteer marshals John lunarman and Janine and of course Mrs funfair.

I know some have had a bit of a nightmare on the roads getting here so “now relax”

I was thinking of a little paddle into town tomorrow morning. Anyone up for it? I have room for someone ( paddle lifejacket and a dog including).

Ok I’ve made a boo boo.
We have booked 1 Canadian canoe for 2 persons on Monday. The pick up is at 9.45am from the showfield (details on page 15 of this thread) at a cost of £60. I got my days mixed up and i have a physio appointment that I need to attend on monday at Oswestry hospital, which is more important to me. Phil is not interested on doing it on his own or with someone else so if someone would like to put some money into the cancer research tin through Emmit (hope that’s ok - any donation will be fine) then please take our place. You may need to sign a waiver with the canoe company but I’m sure they will be ok with that.
Thanks guys and enjoy.
First person to shout up has it.

Hi Gareth

Thats a shame but a great deal for anybody who fancies taking your place, roll up roll up:giggle: and looking out of the window this morning there should be plenty of water in the river:LOL::ROFLMAO:

Anyone fancy a get together down at "The Beach" at around 15:00 today (Saturday) for a bit of messing about on the river?

Cheers
Red

Is it not due to be raining then? We are going out in 10 mins to scout out a getting out place ahead of a swim tomorrow, if the weather plays nicely.

Weather radar shows clear for a fair time coming from southwest :)

Dam only just saw the message as I've been Paddleboarding got bored on my own.

We are going to attempt a mile swim tomorrow morning. Leaving the beach at 11am if anyone fancies escorting. Swimming from the beach to the Boat House pub in the town. We have to get out on the opposite bank at the Evolution Cafe.

There are moorings available if you want to tie up and either get a coffee or walk over the bridge to the pub. Please be aware it is a slow old paddle when escorting swimmers in the water (especially me!), so you may fall asleep at the helm.

We have been told by a local boat person to swim on the right hand side of the river (if going with the flow) as this is what the motor boats will expect.

At this stage our plan is to put a dry bag of clothes in Nigels boat and get changed before heading to the pub for a little tipple.

Getting out point.
