Should you be allowed to cook bacon outside in the morning?

Firstly the answer to the original question is yes it is acceptable but it should be compulsory to share with any passerby. Any drool left by passers by must be cleaned up by that person.
Served on buttered crusty white bread or, preferably, a muffin (Oldham thing) , roll, bap, breadcake or whatever. Must be served with brown sauce.

I'll be the voice of dissent. You shouldn't cook bacon outside in the morning. It should be sausages

Happy to have both on my sandwich, together………but only with brown sauce! (y)

We’ve carried out a small survey in work and I think there is a north/south divide. Smoked northern ( north of Birmingham) unsmoked south!

We have 3 people working in the north and 3 in the south and only one of the southerners preferred smoked.
Although he did have an uncle who moved to Barnsley in the 70s so I’m guessing that might have something to do with his preference.

I’m definitely unsmoked white bread (not thick cut) no butter bacon cooked medium/well done. I cut the fat across with scissors so that it doesn’t curl and you get an even fry!! Topped with HP sauce ( I don’t recognise any other brand of brown).

Apart from that I’m not really fussed!!:LOL:
Spot on with HP sauce being the only acceptable brown sauce(y)

right - thats decided, must have a BLT for lunch.

Right then this will split the camp. I think we are mostly agreed it’s definitely HP with bacon.
But should it be smoked or un smoked?
Me making it always smoked however if I get one for free smoked or un smoked I don't mind as long as it comes with HP.

It's not smoked nowadays, just injected with more chemicals. 🤢

What’s your view on this, does it alter when you are abroad?
Sorry didn't read all the answers but you asked abroad, so here in France the only situation it would be forbidden would be in or near by a forest or woods in summer, with dry soil everywhere. Other than that situation which could lead you straight to prison , enjoy your bacon...no problem!

I'm working on a building site and every morning we get the whiff of bacon from the café next door. Then about 11 am every day the Indian restaurant next door to that kicks off.
I don't mind telling you it can be b****** torture especially on these cold winter mornings.
So when cooking outside, spare a thought for those less fortunate. 😉

What about us old timers who were brought up on Chop sauce?

I think this Red Sauce with everything culture is a generational thing, as I see a lot of kids/teenagers putting Ketchup on everything these days.....I blame McDonalds.

This North/South divide thing regarding Smoked or Unsmoked Bacon is interesting, as although I am of Scottish heritage living down here in Leafy Surrey, I prefer Smoked Bacon, but my favourite has to be the round shaped wafer thin Ayrshire stuff in 3 Morning Rolls.
I cannot remeber whether its smoked or not now, I just love it when I am up there. Especially from the Butchers in Troon.(y)

Mind you a Scottish Square Sausage in a roll, is also a very tempting delight to behold.
I am not that fussed about sauce, but if needs must then Yes, HP or even Daddies Brown every time.

I canne take it much more, I am slavering!.......That's it frying pan game on! Mmmmmmmmm! Can you smell it yet?:giggle:
