Sell me your PVC...!!!!!!

He was talking about possibly buying new, then he could have the electric closing option.
Not available on most though unfortunately.

If you like quality and you've plenty of brass Mo, these are the dogs doodahs.

PVC's Way to go Mo (y)

MY RV is sold

I've owned most every type of van there is, from 36ft RVs to sub 6m A class Germans with lots of British vans in between.

Family constraints have dictated I've never owned the van I've always wanted. A small PVC. Much nearer to camping and really suited to our love of touring and exploring in both the city and countryside.

Siân always said as soon as it just 'me and her'. (ie no kids) touring I could have my wish. Hopefully get it in a couple of weeks after I get Eddie to swap out some of the good bits from the RV. :D
Oooh what have you got?

Here you go very old old-mo

True but mattress toppers cut to size then covered with material and placed on the seat bases can be left in situ all the time so it would only be a sheet and duvet that needed to be plonked on for night time, we used to have oversized cushions which we could just put a cover on at night rather than have to tote pillows around too which saves having to find storage space for them.
That’s a very good idea. I had thought of what improvement could be made to the cushion seats when turning into a bed, this is the answer.

For the fixed bedders in a PVC, is there no concern about giving up quite a bit of living space for want of a few minutes to turn a lounge into a bed ?

No

Having had a caravan in the past, the first thing my wife put on her list was fixed bed. The storage underneath is more than enough for us to have everything nicely boxed and tucked away. No requirement for bedding storage as it’s already on the bed.

The front living area, although small, is ample. We can turn both front seats around to use the table (complete with extension), and we have a bench seat on the other side of the table (two extra travelling seats).

Hopefully we’ll be spending more time outside than in. Two comfy reclining chairs, with blankets, works for us......unless it rains of course, then we can wind out the awning. (y)

:thanks4:

Thanks for all your reply`s/suggestions and photo`s...

Much appreciated... :drinks::hugs:

I think we have decided which route to go down, and hope there is one out there next month when we will really look into it.. And make our choice..

The ones we like most are the single/double bed down by the rear doors, just deciding which one, what size and what make chassis & engine...

We shall opt for a new/nearly new one year old or ex demo one Would even favour an Auto.. (No sheds.. :giggler:.)

So any dealers out there, give me a shout.. (y)
If you want auto Mo it will have to be Fiat as Peugeot don't offer an Auto option.

I used to think fixed beds were a waste of living space in van conversion but it really is all down to how and where you use it as with everything.
Realised we rarely ‘lounge’ in the van, we are outdoors mostly as vast majority of time away is spent in warmer climes. The front dinette gets used when we do (cooler) weekends here and we find it perfectly cosy and comfortable. We had to make up beds in last van for ten years but fixed bed all
made up and ready feels the height of luxury to us!

Hymercar Yosemite. Great finish quality, but probably most important single feature for me is that the bed runs along the length of the van which allows me to sleep stretched out to my full 6 foot 3 inches. Every other PVC that I tried had beds running across the van which were not quite long enough for me. I could sleep with it for a few nights, but wouldn't want to be cramped up for 6 weeks or so.

One consideration might be whether you think you’ll use that van in wet and windy inside weather or sunny sit out weather. If you intend being outside more of the time the fixed bed is a no brainer. I still wouldn’t willingly make up beds unless it was a matter of shaking out a duvalay and getting a pillow out of the cupboard. Truth be told we always found the caravan bed made out of cushions from the bunks really uncomfortable so slept on one duvet with another over.

We have a Warwick Duo (not the XL). The difference is a bigger kitchen, no separate shower & 5.99m. It can be used as two single beds or a big double. We have sheepskins for feet up lounging - makes it really cosy at night. We make up the big bed, & use a duvet under as well as over, very easy to throw on, & store under the bed. Pillows as cushions to lean on when feet up! Carry chairs, screens, drying rack, ramps etc quite easily. We usually do three months in europe when things are normal, & find it’s plenty big enough! Loads of cupboard space, although Paul has put shelves in the wardrobe, & I carry a coffee maker, soda stream, dog food etc. Molly has her basket on the front seats & has plenty of room!

Rather than buy 2 single toppers get a double/king which will be cheaper and cut it down, easy enough to do.

We go away for a long time so not having to make the bed up every day is a massive bonus especially as I'm a cold bum so have 2 duvets plus fleeces etc on mine and storing all of that would mean we wouldn't have any space for other stuff which the fixed bed gives due to the lovely storage space underneath for all our bits and bobs (bike, canoe etc). We use the fixed bed to actually increases our lounging space ... if we want to sprawl we can do so on the bed, of we want more upright seating we use the front lounge dinette or cab seats which are very comfy. Sometimes having a nice big lounge may be nice but it would never outweigh the benefit of the fixed bed layout we have had previous in PVCs.

I know quite a few have suggested fixed transverse/French bed models for Mo but I suspect Mo wouldn't want to be trying to clamber over Judy to go to the loo (not sure she'd appreciate it either), or worse still Judy wouldn't want to have to scale a huffing-puffing heffalump to get out.

Cannot see any problem making beds.We do it for twelve week trips with no bother.Three minutes to make up ,five mins to put away, simples.Got all the time in the world when away.BUSBY😁

Everybody's preferences are different.

I may be generalising, but for us most UK-converted pvcs appear good for daytime living, but frequently lack proper decent storage space. And many involve daily bed making.

So, we like the fixed longitudinal twin beds at the back, which provide for tons of storage including sun loungers, large levellers and all the other camping paraphernalia in the garage. We go on long continental trips, but don't have any kit stored open in the habitation area that needs to be moved around for travelling / day-to-day living.

We've got a 6.4 metre Rapido V68 based on a 130hp Fiat Ducato van with comfortmatic auto gearbox. Plated at 3,500 kg.

Plus points:

- layout works well for us
- large (for a pvc) 133 litre 3-way fridge
- supremely comfortable wide beds, which are easily accessed and perfect for nocturnal night-time bathroom visits
- 6kw Truma gas / electric heating system
- stylish internal decor - pleasant surroundings for chilling / living
- well specified with equipment
- cab seats make comfy reclining arm chairs at the front
- extensive storage

Minus points

- although plenty of storage overall, wardrobe space is limited and above one of the single beds
- the bathroom, whilst fully functional with a shower, is a tad bijou

Whatever you decide to go for, hope you can find a van that meets your needs. Good luck! (y)

Similar in my 5.2 metre van..Only thing I carry inside the actual habitation area is my step and watering can..We carry BBQ, Groundsheet, recling chairs levelling ramps x4 , plus a spare toilet cassette and two full size cycles.Could not get on with a living area full of tackle. BUSBY.

As you know we have bought an Auto Sleeper Warwick xl.
We bought the xl as its got to bench sofas which can be left as 2 singles but more importantly it has a separate shower so no wet toilet roll 👍
3 burner hob
3 way fridge etc etc.

The only downside is passing each other inside is tight.
When will you be travelling down to Dorset as we may meet you on services for a coffee and you could have a nosy.
This was the one model we ALMOST bought due to shower etc BUT only on Peugeot not Fiat and therefore no automatic and they would t do it. This was when it was new out. May have changed over the years

We‘ve not finished ours yet  I would try to choose a PVC with the layout closest to what you have liked best in your previous motorhomes. Layout and design is a very personal thing imo. I wouldn’t personally want to fully make up a bed every day but another person might not mind. Also, sometimes a compromise has to be made somewhere!

I‘m sure the perfect van for you will be out there (y)

Lounging on a large fixed bed is great in the daytime. Far better than a thin couch
