Second home owners reprimanded?

Careful Old Pants has been to the big city you know. Falmouth.
Hilarious...and a little sad. :rolleyes:For your information, I was born in inner city Manchester, raised in Greater Manchester, lived in London, Bristol and Southampton/Portsmouth for many years interspersed with periods in other locations in Hereford, Devon, Kent & Dorset, 17 house moves in total. I’m not Cornish, but love the West Country. My pants are new on today.

I have lived most parts of the UK and find people who live in these small tourist places quite insular in their views, a bit like NIMBYs. They are incredibly jealous of incomers whether it’s to do with income or housing. From Calshot to Lossiemouth or The outer Hebrides to Norfolk I have seen them all. They want your money, but don’t dare stay here.
I dont get the jealousy vibe with this debate? It's about overstretching the medical infrastructure because certain 2nd home owners decided to retreat to their quiet non primary homes...after....lockdown was instigated, not before, but after.
The fact that 2nd home owners like to retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, in a majority of cases, would surely suggest that they are fully aware of the limited resources a majority of popular 2nd home holiday destinations have and therefore its obvious that increasing the populous at a time like this will only stretch those resources even further. Unesasarily in my opinion.
To confuse concern with jealousy is unfair. I certainly wouldn't want to have the morals of the types of people being discussed.

Don’t forget it was a local that sold the house in the first place ??
Have already explained this n not always local who sold it at all people just always seem to presume this without actually knowing this

Bet the locals loved you in Cornwall, waltzing in with loadsamoney, persuading the poor downtrodden locals to sell to you at inflated prices kicking the locals from the bottom rung of the property ladder.

Who said I own a house? Check your facts right before taking a pop at people.
There’s only one thing worse than a bigot (or several) and that’s an ignorant bigot!

Actually, your the first person to suggest you own a house?

You are rather rude aren’t you?

Is that the kettle or the pot calling? You could chose not to respond with derision to all of my posts for whoever intended, or simply use the ignore button. I’ll behave if you do.

People are allowed to have a different opinion on Motorhome Fun, just writing and hitting the "post" button does not make your statement, a fact, and anyone is allowed to challenge or discuss it with out fear of rancour nastiness

Calling Mikey RV an ignorant bigot goes beyond what is normal discussion or banter

Some would suggest it's due to the higher than average number of inbreds existing in such remote places. . . . :winky:

I did read somewhere that Norfolk & Cornwall were notorious for inbreeding in the past. :giggle:

When I lived in Devon, people considered me posh as I lived in Torbay

When I moved to Somerset, I realised that the people in Somerset considered that I was a "Southerner" from "Devon"

6 toes is normal it’s you lot that are odd. Haha

It is irrelevant, you should have better "forum" manners, than to call anyone an ignorant bigot for disagreeing with you.

The irony is that calling someone a bigot for disagreeing with you is an oxymoron

Such is life.

Wasn’t so much an explanation as a excuse

locals selling dictates what people pay!
That is total bloody rubbish it second home owners, who dictate the market price as they the ones who have made the price go so high not even goin to waste my time other people out there know the real truth

Locals have to sell for buyers to buy Fact

Sellers dictate the price, another fact

Just the reality of it

As posted previously Martins next door neighbour, an elderly lady sold her house cheaper than a higher offer to a local family as "she liked them"

It can be done.

Your irony is lost on me. ‘Bigot’ is shorthand for a person who obstinately holds opinions and prejudices and regards others with intolerance and distain. Look back at your posts on this topic - that’s you.
I won’t be posting on this topic anymore, it’s pointless and counter productive. Might even get banned, such is life.

If it is lost on you, would you like me to explain the irony?

I am nice like that

:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:and you come from where exactly?
I'm quite fortunate in that I dont originate from Norfolk, but after moving here 13 years ago I felt I had to take steps to integrate in the community, so I had surgery to have my arms removed and put back on back to front.
I'm one of the lads now!

The market dictates the price FACT an the second buyers most down here from London snap em up straight away in past FACT also an people who not live here like to blame others an say it all locals fault as it easier to say that so I say watever believe wat you want others know the real truth

Well I'm a Lancasterian living in Devon, have been for 30 years...... but I am still a Lancasterian, they have got used to it in our small rural village. Ha locals used to say they would drive down to the north, ha.... put them right on that one. Ohh arr!
Sat in MHome, having lunch whilst it rains....Living the dream on hold. Red rose Smudger55

The Market is a set of people who wish to sell or buy. The Market does not dictate price, people buying and selling dictate price.

Locals were not evicted from property by non-locals and property sold to non locals.

Locals can sell they’re property or give it away to whoever they like.

Locals can stand or vote in persons to local council or government to represent them and policy that benifits locals, such as locals can only sell property to other locals at a set value!

mmm, I wonder why that has not happened (locals setting a policy that locals will only sell to other locals at a set value)

Perhaps locals like a free market where they can find any buyer and set a value that they think is appropriate for their property......
