I think we got a pretty good reminder from this one Carol :) x

Makes me smile every time I open up this thread, hopefully it will end up at top of next page (y)

Meant to ask earlier in thread, did you walk to Portree from camp site or is there room to park? last time we went into the town we were in a car

Hi,
Just returned from that trip, brilliant, must stay at CLACHTOLL campsite and go around area on way up or down, we did it on way back. Need warm bed clothes at night. Must drive over to Applecross.

Well Carol, I'm glad your enjoying your trip. It is like bloody winter in North Lancs at present, rain, sleet and occasional snow flurries, and it's damn cold. Plan on doing this trip, possibly next year, keep posting as I'm loving the photos.

Safe travels.

Love all your photographs and look forward to seeing the rest of your journey :)

We took a trip to Skye in May '09 and stopped at the Sligachan campsite ... your pictures are bringing back some lovely memories for us ....

Thanks Gerri, I am amazed they come out as they do I only take them on my old Motorola Phone.
Off to Portree again tomorrow as we have been told there is a Music Festival on, so we will go and see what it is all about.

Can't believe they've been taken on an old phone - they are beautiful photos! Have fun at the festival - no dancing on tables mind...... ;)

Re Plockton, there's a large car park on the sea front where you can park in the day, but it says no overnight, but we were told by the locals it was fine to stop which we did , but it's up to you to chance it or not. It's strange the very nice local hotel acts as the public toilet as there is not one in the village, it also has good internet. We have been on the beach there in September picking Blackberry's on the beach. It's in the gulf stream so the temperature can be quite mild. It's a really quaint place.
There used to be a campsite at the end of the village but it closed shortly after the Hamish Macbeth TV series, gorgeous place and scenery with palm trees growing along the front. The cows were extremely intelligent by invading the campsite across cattle grid designed to defeat them. Don't know if it has changed now Carol but there was quite a long arduous one lane drive to it with only a few passing places a bit like the run to Mallaig?

You haven't been to Mallaig for a while then :) how well we remember the caravan meets fish lorry 2 hour delays (y) been there done that, it is now like driving up the A1, three lanes in places

Too much change IMO, but no traffic issues anymore

Hi @vin0114 We will be calling in at Plockton in the next week, a place we are fond of, will put some pictures on, don't think it will have changed much, but as David says a bit better access.:)

I was referring to Mallaig's new road, I am awaiting with great interest your visit to Plockton, never been yet, but this year is the year I hope :)

we have a had a few night at Sligachan site and many an hour in the hotel :), looking forward to seeing new places (y)

This route also known as Route 66 and is in this months CC Club Book, the coffee must be had at the Cocoa Mountain Cafe along with hand made chocolates. It's just as the picture shows in magazine, excellent. Inverewe is an excellent site. Personally I did not like the site at Applecross, to busy for me, quite noisy and very busy. Best site was at
CLACHTOLL. Beach is beautiful
