Scotland North Coast 500 April/May

@Jimbohorlicks

did you sort your fuel leak? I presumed you would still be near Ullapool
I have wrapped the filter housing with an old towel. Checked it at each stop and this morning the towel was just damp but oily(deisel)so we willpersevere for the moment and at the first garage with any ffacilities try to tighten it up. I.m a bit reluctant to dismantle it unless I have at least a new o ring available. It may be that the existing ring has deteriorated and may not reseat and leak more if disturbed.
We are currently at the Tonge causeway , sunny again but cooler with a slght breeze. Some snow on the mountain tops in the distance

Were there yesterday.we drove up the single track to the small car park at the end we ended up going further but had to do turnaround to get back to the beach road. A fiver a night is still god value even with no sevices.see u at falkirk next week

Went fishing today with one of the site wardens and we drove to the very end of the single track road, he told me that quite a few motorhomes wild camped there.
Weather has been cool and sunny here today.:)

It could have been , we didn, t see any mh with fun stickers and we have a large one displsyed in the bottom offside front window.we have stayed on the coast road the majority of the time unless we have pulled off for any placesto visit /sleepover/or shopwe are currently at Loch Fleet just north of Inverness. Stopped at some harbour/fishing vilages on the way from Wick down the A9

And Dunbeath just a few miles further down. Met up with a scots motorhomer who was staying the night on the harbour road. One of the locals had advised he was very welcome. Toilet facilities and water available at both of these places plus local heritage museums showing how the fishing vilages started , survived and how the fishing in the main came to an end. 100, s of boats used to fish from these places but very few do now.

Leaving Inverewe tomorrow and heading for the c&cc site near Oban. Went fishing in Loch Ewe with one of the site Wardens yesterday but only managed to catch one fish and i returned that to the water.
Had Sunday Dinner at the Poolewe Hotel today and all I can say is it is one to avoid,:( it wouldn't have filled your hollow tooth. @Terry would have thought they had bought him a starter.:)

@daveandsan I have to agree regarding the so called Sunday dinner at Poolewe Hotel. We were there last Sunday and complained about it to no avail. Would never go there again.

There is a God, when we left Sandra noticed they hadn't put the last round of drinks on the bill.:)
Sandra also put a bad review about it on Trip Advisor.

We're at the C&CC site near Oban tonight then off to Tiree tomorrow from Oban.
The site here is very pleasant but very midgy. Just seen a couple wearing full midge nets on head and arms. The site office sells Smidge. Maybe see you later.

Had a pleasant drive down to Oban c&cc site today via Morrisons at Fort William to restock and refuel,:) the only thing to spoil the drive was the three laps we did of Morrisons car park trying to park up.:(

It's great to meet fellow Funsters. Happy travels Dave and Sandra. If you fancy a stop over on the way to Falkirk Maragowan Killin CC site is really lovely. It's about half way to Falkirk.
Hope the Falkirk Meet is a huge success. Mags

Took the eldest dog on the dog walk from Oban C&CC tonight and followed the path uphill that runs along side the Burn.
How that has been shaped over millions of years is amazing, memo to self take camera tomorrow. Trouble is, I know that photos won't do it justice.

Just seen this thread and read it from start to finish. What great photos amongst it and an interesting selection of must do places to visit. There must have been several of us crossing each others tracks over the last few weeks on the mainland and on Skye. The weather is not so good today on North Uist but has more than been made up for with the superb sunshine we've had, especially last week on Lewis and Harris. I've spent some time on Skye before now and it's always been one of my favourite places in the UK but Harris has now taken its place. We are now working our way south towards Barra before returning to the mainland.

Yes, we are heading down to falkirk slowly. Currently on the A9 at Bruar falls and the retail outlet House of Bruar. They have some good deals on fly fishing reels £600 and waders for £400 was going to treat myself but thought what the hech I can buy a couple of salmon steaks from Aldi for £2.99 ;)
