Rally Retro Festival NEWBURY 2022

Ok, only just back in the game after illness, the pandemic and now ready to go with a new (well, rather old) MH. it has been suggested that I’ve lost my sense of fun and need to get out more so how do I book tickets if it’s not too late? I clicked the “how to book tickets” link and it’s a blank error page (apparently I do that to web pages) so help please.
I just tried the Newbury booking page via this login link and the booking page came up for me…… Broken Link Removed

We went a couple of years ago, never again. The camping side of the event was very poor. Poor toilet & Elsan disposal facilities, often not working or closed. Lack of water points. The EHU late & unreliable.
The camping site was changed at the last minute, thus the grass had not been cut, far to long for camping. The event organizers / security would not let you leave site until the last day ( health & safety don't you know ). This caused some big arguments as some people had to leave early.
The weather was very bad thus not all the advertised attractions were able to turn up / exhibit. therefore our overall enjoyment was limited.
Our expectations are high as the facilities did not meet the standard set by Warners.
By the way we were not with Moho fun, but with CMC.

That’s enough to put me off, thank you for the insight. I read somewhere there are spaces for 60 funsters and there are 72 on the list of attendees so don’t know what is going on there. I can open the link but I have no idea if it’s through RV or Euro and I have no idea how to get the Discount. These questions are in the thread with no answers so I’m feeling very much on the outside. I will look for a better way to get back in the game!

The discount is applied as you book using the MHF login link.

It is our first time attending so I cannot address the historical issues above, but no doubt adi4 who is both the organiser, member here, and booked in our area, will address queries for you.

I believe you are referring to last year as the show didnt run the year before because of covid.
The EHU late & unreliable.
Because of all the covid test centres there was a national shortage of generators, cables and external fuel tanks.
The camping site was changed at the last minute,
thus the grass had not been cut, far to long for camping.
Because of covid the showground had been shut and we were the first show to run last year; when the Retrofest team arrived at the showground and realised that the grass had not been cut they arranged a private contractor at their own cost to cut as much of the grass as they could during the limited time before the show opened
The event organizers / security would not let you leave site until the last day ( health & safety don't you know ). This caused some big arguments as some people had to leave early.

This is incorrect. You can leave site any time before 9am and after 5pm as the public are on the showground during these times. If there is a dire emergency and you have to leave between these times we can have you escorted out of the showground.

The weather was very bad thus not all the advertised attractions were able to turn up / exhibit. therefore our overall enjoyment was limited.
Unfortunately as good as they are even the Retrofest team are unable to control the weather.
Our expectations are high as the facilities did not meet the standard set by Warners.
By the way we were not with Moho fun, but with CMC.

This is nothing to do with the RVOC / MHFun area

Unfortunately most of the problems you have detailed above are directly due to covid as a result of this out of the hands of the Retrofest team

Unfortunately that feedback was from someone who was not even in our rally area.
I read somewhere there are spaces for 60 funsters and there are 72 on the list of attendees so don’t know what is going on there.
The list is of attendees includes both funsters and RVOC members. there is a limit of 60 euro motorhomes / caravans, and 60 American RVs so the list can be up to 120 attendees

Hi everyone, I have been asked about club discounts a couple of times so here is our pricing compared to general camping.....

The cost of 2 adult tickets, 4 nights camping and EHU in general camping (max 8 meter length) will cost £294.
As above without EHU will cost £220.50

Our club price is £210 and we are on the showground with EHU and vehicles above 8 meters, thats an £84 saving (y)

There is a discounted RVOC rally area within Retrofest and MHfun are guests. when booking if you have an American RV, you tick the box that says American RV, if you have a Euro motorhome you tick the box that says Euro motorhome, etc etc.

You just need to look back in the thread as your questions have already been answered as you can see below from my post #20

Dear adi4.
I am sorry that I have clearly upset you, with my post. I did make it clear that I did not book the event with Fun but with the Caravan & Motorhome Club. No criticism was intended against you or Fun. I am sure you are working very hard to arrange the show on behalf of Fun members. As a fun member however, I feel I should tell others of my actual experience & my opinion of the previous event I attended.
The event I was referring too was held in Aug 2019 at Newbury, thus Covid was not a factor. I accept that the event was held in bad weather conditions, which did nothing to help my enjoyment of the event. Most of the problems were caused by poor planning & lack of action by the show ground. Others were down to the Retrofest team.
For your information I attach copy of my letter (email) of complain I sent after the event.

Dear Sir / Madam.
Having recently attended the Newbury Retrofestival in our motorhome we have compiled a list of complaints which we would like to be addressed. We were booked in with the Berkshire Centre Caravan and Motorhome club.

1 The signage to the event was inadequate causing us and a number of other vehicles to go in the wrong entrance. We then had the problem of turning round to get out going against the flow of incoming traffic. This was most unsatisfactory and potentially dangerous!

2 The field that we were directed to had not been prepared. The grass was very long (not good considering the wet weather) and there were no facilities e.g. toilets, showers, elsan in the field. We did note that the car park used by the visiting public had been mowed. The nearest elsan point was out of order and the nearest showers were also out of order at one point and unavailable on Monday morning.

3 We don’t normally need electric hook up but were told on booking that it was compulsory. At £35 it was very overpriced and not reliable. The power went off several times. We spoke to the marshals who did their best but there was no-one to help or give feedback.

4 Having arrived on Thursday we expected the show to be open on Friday, but were disappointed to find only a few stalls open and most things had not yet been set up. This is unfair on campers who have paid a lot of money for a four day event.

5 No paperwork was sent out prior to the event and the paperwork given out on arrival did not contain any emergency contact numbers e.g. doctors, vets, site security assistance. The paperwork also stated that no-one could leave before 6pm on Sunday.

The people next to us wanted to go at 3pm but were told they couldn’t. Is this is what is meant by a “captive audience”!. This time restraint should have been made clear before arrival. After several complaints an obvious and easy exit route was eventually found!

6 The entertainment venues were inadequate and there was not enough seating. People were standing up and obscuring the view of the people who were seated. Very disorganised! The entertainment was spoilt by the long sound checks in between acts. This should have been done before the audience were in. Disappointingly 2 of the venues closed early on the Sunday evening.

7 Sadly the show did not live up to expectations as advertised. Where were the wings and steam? There was one model aircraft and a small steam engine.
It looks as though some of the exhibitors did not turn up.
We are regulars at Warners motorhome shows, which are excellent value for money and very well organised. You should take note!

You don't go for the camping you go for the dancing.

This funster camped in the camc area ! No wonder it was disorganised! We love being with the funsters in the main showground next to all the action . Shame you can’t make it this year Lenny .

Like the look of this event so thinking we may come down in Bertie and hotel stay nearby.
No way of getting Billy the MH down there as HRH will not drive Bertie OR Billy.

Go for the Hilton Doubletree. It’s very close . They still have rooms . I just checked 👍🏻

Fantastic event last time we went even if it was a bit overshadowed by some vermin types who took over the marquee we were in 🙁 so we moved away to another one.
It’s a real shame that now you have to have ehu due to people lying and saying they had paid for it when they had not but that’s motorhomers for you🙂 I’ll have it if it’s free🤣

I don’t really see you adding any value to this thread with the negative vibes . It’s a brilliant atmosphere inside the show ground camping with the funsters and being close to main areas (dancing , food , fairground , vendors etc ) is such a fantastic experience. I was really upset to see someone being put off attending the event after reading your” review “of the camc camping area which to be totally honest is completely irrelevant to the funsters rally area .

My " review " is completely valid, negative or otherwise and it does not relate the camc camping area. The problems in the main, do not relate to which organisation you are camping with. But relates to poor organisation, planning & lack of action by the show ground and the Retrofest team.
Are you saying that members are only allowed to give positive posts on any subject matter ?

Hi everybody.
Tickets will be automatically sent out via email (to the email address that you supplied when you booked) just after booking is closed, usually about a week before the show.

Hopefully in the coming week I will put up a list of attendees, we have been a little busy moving into a new workshop.

Regards
Adi and Cassie

Hi adi4 , please can you take us off the list (Lenny Blann) change of plans going to visit our daughter in Thailand who is expecting a baby in August.
Retro kindly refunded our ticket price, very pleased with that.

I was going to come on my own but daughter was disappointed when I said I wasn't coming. She is going to get get a surprise we haven't told her I going with Mijhan.

We have been regulars at the Retro for about ten years only one we have missed for years was the first one when it moved to Newbury.

Mine arrived in email inbox 21 July. Search for Theticketsellers.
Thanks for this, no email received yet but I logged in and they were there, now downloaded, thanks.
