Portugal is now off the green list

OMG someone left the gate open and let a certain funster out and up onto his soap box again about staying locked-down foreveeeeeeeeeer!

Minxy Girl, There was no need for that, it just gets the bickering started. Please it's sunny out, I don't want to play dinner lady and sort squabbles out

The poster is not known for nice.

Just ignore it. It always tries to tell everyone how they should do whatever it is they’re doing.

Glenn, Is this you being nice?...... Calling another Funster "IT"

Not liking another Funster, for whatever reason, is fine as long as you keep it to yourself. Make your feelings public and you risk a ban, you're close, Be nice. Thanks

My opinion so don't shout me dowm,Those who want to carry on as best they can do so,Those who wan't still be carefull do so, This is not going to be gone for some time so we need to start living with it we cant hide away for ever,We have been away 4 times now to wales and devon and enjoyed it ,We have booked France but can't see us going, We went last August when we new very little about covid ! 5 of us and we never caught it, Everyone can have there own opinion some are still worried let them be we are all different, good luck which ever you choose for me time to get out there again.
Posts like that dont get "replied to with kind"
The ones that do get a more strong reply, in general, are where there are comments like "Its madness" or "Youre selfish" or anything derogatory towards the poster.
Hoping the surf is good for you this year and you catch some nice ones. Thinking of getting the bodyboards out but cant quite face up to going to Cornwall/North Devon as it is going to be rammed. Wont take Surfboards as will need to be next to coast. Wales is a potential option for us with boards

I respect your view, but unless you are going to lock yourself away for the foreseeable, the same applies here in the UK doesn't it?,
There is no reason to think that there is more risk in Europe than here, particularly with our type of holiday.
I wouldn't get on a plane, or use a hotel, here or abroad, but i think it would be safe enough in my van, no more risk than sainsburys IMV, shou.d the rules change while away, as you say that's the risk you take.
But each to their own.
I get your point too. We certainly don’t and haven’t locked ourselves away, far from it. It’s just the uncertainty of others, politicians, making up the rules.
I miss Europe badly, but right now, for us, U.K. rules.
Motorhoming is probably the best way to avoid the plague and I can’t think of a better place to do it.
Happy travels
Phil

With respect Mr Old Man...

I am in Portugal and I am NOT...

Crying or wailing or protesting...

What are you like?

JJ
And if I was lucky enough to be there I wouldn’t be complaining either. If anyone needs insurance to travel against FOC advice, Stay sure do it, not cheap but so worth it x

I know what you mean, we will go if allowed, otherwise i don't think we will bother with the UK, except maybe some overnight trips which we do anyway.
I would like to see some more of the highlands but fear it will be too busy.
Safe trip wherever you go.
Mark.

This is interesting.

France, which announced today that, from 9 June, fully vaccinated British holidaymakers will be allowed to enter the country, with no requirement to quarantine. However, France remains on Britain’s amber list, necessitating a 10-day quarantine and two PCR tests for all inbound travellers to the UK

That's a bugger then, hopefully France will go green later this summer
It would need to be very clear that they were going to stay green. I don't know if the trust policy has changed but last year we didn't transit France to Germany as it seemed the policy was that if you travelled to another country and the rules changed you were deemed to have made yourself intentionally unavailable for work so no pay and potentially disciplinary action. At the time it was fair enough as we looked potentially to be heading for a second wave and they didn't want to be short of staff.

Of course, i am self employed so have no such worries.

Really do not come because it is horrible here

24 hours too late for me.

It was most definitely a political decision he made, and he is now losing my euro spending power.

Those going away now will not need to view my daily figures anymore as a politician will be of more use than statistics !

What about the ones you mentioned that will not be vaccinated for whatever reason? Do we just let them catch it and die? Do we all stay locked down forever so those not vaccinated don’t catch it and die?
That’s about the choice we as a race of people will need to make at some point.
Sorry, never saw this post. This is what I think : those who don't want to be vaccinated should be responsible of their choice, and therefore if they want to go out....and possibly get it... No one has to feel guilty. My son, who is a nurse..and therefore knows he is at risk everyday, doesn't want his jab. He said, being young, he doesn't risk severe form of covid, and to him the balance between risk and safety is too tight to take a risk with a vaccine that we don't know for sure long last side effects.
My sister is 54, ans and is a teacher. She doesn't want to both take a test or get her jab. Test...if positive will prevent her from working, and she doesn't want to stop. Very selfish in my opinion, cause she can contaminate children and their families or other teachers. My daughter is in between..she said she might give it a go in September. My mum 82 doesn't want it either.
Look , I love them all, but indeed, they put themselves at risk, and I told them all to stay away from crowds. Surely, I don't want to be locked up at home because of them all. I would like my jab, but right now, I have been told no. Of course no one wants to be locked up at home, but indeed, those who do not want to be vaccinated....it is their responsability/problem. I was only speaking of those who would want to but can't.

That's a pity, is there no way you can amend?

We were self employed until 5 years ago but still wouldn't have gone we couldn't afford paying the staff to do very little for an extra week if the rules changed and we had to quarantine. It's the consequence of doing a public contact role.

I suppose it depends on your point of view, shame though as I like a good giggle.
Another effect of advancing years ... Changed the daily giggle for the daily Google so that I can find out where I am... Doesn't help with the why I came here conundrum, though ... :ROFLMAO:

I wish they would make their minds up, it was only last week they said we have to quarantine

Because you could only come for essential reasons . 9 June was always the plan .
I did post the plan quite some time ago and will post again for those who didn’t see it or have forgotten lol

Could you name a country that doesn't keep changing. I seem to recall we were similar with travel from India. Anyone expecting to travel to another country has to expect the possibility of advice and rules changing or expect to have to cancel.

👍The day after Portugal going on amber list!
Follow the science they say! The other week Spain allowed Uk and Japan access. At the same time Germany banned the UK and the USA banned the Japanese.🤔
I know everyone is trying to do their best for their citizens, but it is becoming a bit farcical!
I never had holidays as a kid, so not having a holiday abroad, dosent bother me!
I hope I havent made you cry?😀

I agree with you up to a point and I have been blunt with people who have moaned about the chopping and changing and problems in the past! The Government did say this time, that the traffic light system would be different! If countries were placed on the green list, and things were changing for the worst, they would be placed on the ‘watch list’ before the change to Amber/ Red.
I know we are still in a Pandemic, and all that goes with it, but I do have a modicum of sympathy for those in a crap position in Portugal.

Seems strange they went on green list so Gove could attend the chumpions league final and all other MP's with villa's in the Algarve could spend half term holidays in Portugal and now they are closing up shop just to meet some arbitrary date in June to unlock completely having massaged the figures to suit!

It depends how long countries were supposed to be on the watch list if it's a choice between inconvenience for some on holiday or doing what we did with the Indian variant it's better to do what they did or even just shut one day. It would though be a really good idea for the government to say that's a possibility so people have an informed choice.
