It depends how long countries were supposed to be on the watch list if it's a choice between inconvenience for some on holiday or doing what we did with the Indian variant it's better to do what they did or even just shut one day. It would though be a really good idea for the government to say that's a possibility so people have an informed choice.

First time out, It hasnt proved to be. Its exactly the same as last year. You are on holiday and it changes quickly.
Im staying in England this year, like I did last year!
i think once you are retired, holidays are over rated anyway

As it's the same virus and in other countries there's a pretty low vaccination rate it will tend to increase just as fast as before possibly quicker with the variants so how can they react slower.

And just say plainly to people if you travel and the rules change it's tough. If you don't want to take the risk don't travel abroad

I was of that opinion before the Government come up with a cunning plan! It hasnt worked, so back to the drawing board.

Seems strange they went on green list so Gove could attend the chumpions league final and all other MP's with villa's in the Algarve could spend half term holidays in Portugal and now they are closing up shop just to meet some arbitrary date in June to unlock completely having massaged the figures to suit!

I don't think they ever said how many deaths are predicted if as is likely theres another wave and if we decide to ride it out rather than lockdown again. It would be interesting to know. I suspect there will be a very large range largely dependent on the variants that arrise.

I do however not at the expense of others health. I do wonder if some just think of No1 above anyone else and as soon as they're vaccinated want to be off no matter what the effect on others. I agree with you up to a point and I have been blunt with people who have moaned about the chopping and changing and problems in the past! The Government did say this time, that the traffic light system would be different! If countries were placed on the green list, and things were changing for the worst, they would be placed on the ‘watch list’ before the change to Amber/ Red.
I know we are still in a Pandemic, and all that goes with it, but I do have a modicum of sympathy for those in a crap position in Portugal.

Especially if Portugal's rate fell today so that it was lower then the Uks.
