Nordic travel plans August / September 2017

Hi Both , just caught up, as werve been away with the grandkids, we played scrable and guess what my first for letter tiles were AOLA ......:love:

belated happy birthday to Bev, whats it like to be 21? happy travels to you all, stay safe (y)

How's the new 360 degree camera working David ?
Is it helpful on the motorway?

Helllo all, camera is brilliant on motorway, far more use on the move than manouvering (why cant the forum spell chucker sort that out must be close) :):)

Arrived just south of Gothenburg, Kungsbacka, at a sports centre in camper contact site number 22886, we seem to be as confused as other stoppers based on reviews, but have just had a lovely chat with a Swede who has just joined us. Firstly I think I have had a first, used a credit card not in UK first time (y)(y) did help that no pin numbers were needed though :), so put card in machine, only option seemed to be 10K, so pressed that and paid approx. £1, ticket delivered expires 22:48, bugger, so back in again, this time press the 10K button 3 times as we now notice the expiry time on screen, now valid till 10:55 (y)(y), does mean we have paid £3 and £1, but for £4 we have a lovely tarmac location, free water, free dump and free electrics (y)(y)

The nice Swede had called round to ask how we paid, we explained in full English which he fully understood and conversed back in (y)(y), even explaining how we bought 2 tickets by mistake, he then went off to pay himself, I met him outside while I was taking above photos, he said we had made a mistake, there was an option for camping house as they call them, then the charge is 100K £10, then he showed me his ticket smiling and saying easy mistake, he had bought the same as us, but there really is a 100K option we should have used o_O, but great value and he assures us nobody will chase us for the error, or him :):)

It is seriously warm here, 24C, contemplated sitting out, but is says in CC camping behaviour not allowed o_O, but cooking dinner so inside anyway

now 100% full, dinner smells brill, time for another drink (y)(y)

nothing overly special, but nice to have done it, even better in the sunshine we had (y)(y)

not sure we quite the toll bit right, wel Bev told me I was wrong anyway o_O choice of car or lorry, opted not to risk the car lane, toll booth correctly picked us up as a motorhome which is about £100 per crossing, but we have pre registered for multi use so hope it will be a lot less o_O(y)

Are there sufficient supplies of Gin on board for the desert which lies ahead,

there really is a 100K option we should have used o_O, but great value and he assures us nobody will chase us for the error, or him :):)

I think this depends on where you're staying so be careful. Might be a one-off, but at stop in Norway we were told about it by a local campervan. However a German van which had parked next to us got fined almost immediately. Luckily they eventually only got a warning, thanks again to the local guy stepping in, but normally there is a very big fine.

Just had lunch, had a mixed days travelling so far and still got 80 miles to go to Lillehammer, but a lovely day, full on sun all day :):)

just after we set off we hit Gothenburg around 8:30 and paid the price badly, nearly an hour to cover the first 25 miles :( but then all good till Oslo, which included the border o_Oo_O

Why did we worry, why did we both with the UK vets and another £40 or so o_O thought we might be checked though as all traffic was diverted through a check point, were unsure on whether Lola would class as goods to declare, but decided not and were simply waved through, no passports looked no nothing, but a lovely smile from the lady Norwegian official could have been police or customs not sure :) but we are through all gin intact plus dog (y)(y)

My first observation in Norway was aren't they patriotic with the Norway flag on all the number plates, not like us with the EU flag, took me a good few miles to remember Norway isn't in the EU o_O but I then spent a few more minutes wondering is all the UK cars with EU markers on them will have to change their number plates o_O

Back to our travels, today I will feature on the 2 aires we have stopped at so far, first one in Sweden then Norway, immaculate stainless steel toilet rooms at both (y)

actually now I look again it is hard to read on the photos, so to save wasted effort, we are at the 1996 Olympic ski jump, can't recall now but might have been Eddie the Eagles launch pad :)

Only a car park and 100K £10 to park over night, but level good views and a beautiful evening to mark our last out days long drive (y)(y)

this is our driving effort for the past 2 days (y)

upload_2017-8-23_18-37-13.png

from tomorrow we massively reduce daily miles, although tomorrow is a withdrawal day :):)

upload_2017-8-23_18-42-2.png

only 165 miles (y)(y)

It is 800 steps from where we are to the top of the ski jump, I will take their word for that, a stroll around the car park will do for us (y)

Dinner on the go, a chicken wotnot, frozen chicken from our butchers pre diced and bagged in breast portions :)(y) 2 portions tonight, diced onions, plus a tin of Baxters French onion soup and my newly found staple ingredient sweet potato (y)

with a baguette not eaten earlier from lunch time (y)

Lookie lookie, we could be in luck for aurora tonight, we are really not far enough north or really sited for a northerly direction for viewing, there is a bloody ski jump in the way :LOL:
