Motorhoming Life… A survey of the mundane - breakfast.

Good Afternoon

As we are still waiting to collect our motorhome, pending MOT, service, hab service, valet etc. my life is spent reading this forum and dreaming of what’s to come. It is comforting to see such helpful responses to folks with problems.
This morning after getting breakfast sorted and returning to bed with bacon sandwiches and coffee I was wondering….
How is breakfast taken by the Motorhome Fun community?
Please share your motorhoming breakfast routines! Do you do things differently to when at home? Inside or outside? Earlier or later? Fry up or healthy options?
I need to know how to do breakfast properly if we are going to fit in with all you experienced travellers!

Oh PS get a Ridgemonkey and elastic band’s 🤩

SHMBO made scrambly egg on toast for brekky in bed this morning. Nice cuppa, 2 sugars but don’t stir it cause I don’t like it sweet, just awaiting 2 slices of HOT (must be HOT!) buttered toast to be smothered with strawberry conserve!

Cheers!

Russ
That was all going so well until "in bed" not had breakfast in bed since I was last in hospital and that was 50 years ago.

A large mug of tea in bed with the Motorhome Fun midweek round-up, then plain oats with grape nuts with toasted nuts and seeds, fruit salad, hazelnut milk. When in France, croissants and coffee, baguette and jam.

Breakfast usually taken orally.

Mine is the same every day, home and away. Three Weetabix with skimmed milk and a bean to cup black coffee. Followed by a cocktail of pills to keep my body functioning.

Earl grey tea, French stick or baguette or German bread, with my home-made marmalade. Second mug of tea with the 'tablets de jour' that keep me alive. Often on the road by 0900 we save the coffee and choc-au-pain until mid-morning break.

Sometimes FE
Sometimes E on T
Sometimes scrambled E
Sometimes cereal
Sometimes B (could be with other bits) sandwich
Mostly toast!

Sometimes in
Sometimes out
Occasionally completely out….. no washing up!

Whatever, wherever, however
L:arge Mug of tea strong, no sugar but milk. Toast no jam, cereal usually muesli with milk.

ours is Porridge with Linwoods Flaxseed, Sunflower, Pumpkin & Chia Seeds & Goji Berries, plus another spoon of Chia seeds, couple of spoons of Udo's oil and 100g of Blueberries. on top of this posh porridge is Ginger Yogurt we add the ginger to the yogurt. Plus a nice mug of tea.

Currently no Tablets involved just a veggie diet, but who knows what the future holds

A glass of 'Roundup' each morning should keep control of the mass of seedlings sprouting in your stomach.

Ever thought about selling you sewage to a wildlife garden specialist, just use a SOG toilet and your laughing!

PS. You don't own a Health Shop do you? :giggle:

Only weak Chicory 'coffee' for me until around 1pm. By then I might be needing some food or a protein drink. Can't tolerate food in the mornings.

Here on tour in the Orkney's its fresh coffee , Italian goes without saying, Porridge with double cream and Whisky followed by kippers and a oat cake. Some time later Rennie and chat with the Polis for driving after porridge

Mix of many things sometimes just fruit, sometimes egg, bacon, sausage sandwich or combination of any of the three, eggs on toast, gypsy eggs, FE, sometimes just toast/crumpets but don’t really do coffee for breakfast has to be two possibly three cups of tea, then have a nice strong coffee around 11ish
Fruit juice, (usually but not exclusively) orange, cereal and fresh cafetière coffee.

Same as at home, not too inventive.
What are Gypsy eggs? Just askin....

Good Morning!
After our first few days away, learning the ropes on our new adventure it’s 05.15 Monday morning and back to work.
Due to being on call for elderly parents care requirements our travels are limited to being pretty local to home at the moment.
I can now contribute to my own survey!
With the need to check how ( and if) everything works our trial weekend meant the full fry up!
A little bit stressful at times as Mrs_in_Npton grappled with the oven controls, bacon going from oven to hob, thick bread getting stuck in small toaster, “someone “ forgetting the mushrooms but the end result was very pleasing!
Apparently this is not going to be the norm…

Every morning 2 slices of granary bread or rye bread with tahini, a cup of peppermint tea then one spoon of organic flaxseed oil with lignans and one spoon of organic pumpkin seed oil.
Then one bowl of homemade cereal, oats, flaxseed, sunflower seed, chia, almonds, pumpkin seed, with oat or coconut milk.

This must be a windup surely. :sicker::sicker:

All those oils remind me of having to take castor oil and cod liver oil as a child, really yuch.

Lots of mention of cafetieres here. What do people do with the used grounds on sites? We've been thinking of using one but thought cleaning it might be tricky.

My 'Head Gardener' keeps hers for some application, don't know what and she is away until tomorrow.

Anyway it looks as though they are not rubbish, if you know what to do with them.

Coffee.. either Mokapot or Aeropress...
Depending on mood and larder/fridge..
Cereals.. cornflakes/muesli with blueberry
Bacon or sausage sandwich
Omelette..bit of cheese ,garlic and old mushroom..

I tap my moka pot coffee grounds into the bin. It’s really easy to rinse then.

We use a cafetiere and the grounds are a problem. At home always empty on a flower bed as they are reputed to repel slugs. Away usually find a spot of rough ground to dispose of them. They are non toxic and biodegradable and as long as not just in a pile largely invisible

All this talk of breakfast is hopefully making my stomach growl - Hope it's that as BossLady has been up all night with upset tummy.
Think it will be Crunchy Nut with Greek Yoghurt and some fresh fruit - mug of fresh coffee ☕

Grounds are a good soil enhancer and do help with slug prevention, so either keep in a sealed tub till home or undernearest hedge.
The big coffee shops often have bags of it for this purpose.
