Then do a 22 hour shift down the mines and come home to a single slice of mouldy bread and a severe beating. Times were hard but we were happy.

" Came from a council estate", as kids we used to dream about living in a council house, we grew up in tied agricultural cottage.
It had gas mantel lighting, and the only running water came through the ancient property's poorly maintained roof. If you wanted water you had to go into the garden and pump it up out of the well. Try telling that to kids today and they wouldn't believe you, but all true.

Which is 4000 more than this time last year. At an average price of £40k assuming most are at dealers, someone is holding an additional c.£160m in stock. Makes you think.

The OP asked which way we thought the market was heading, not where it is now. If folk are getting nearly the same back as they paid 4 or more years ago, I'd say the market is still inflated, so more likely to go down than up.

FYI, when I looked for a valuation for the stolen Quartet, a couple were on offer for 40k-ish and sold within a week of me first looking (though I don't know what for or how long they'd been advertised). I paid 32.5k in 2017... So market is inflated but stuff still moving at those prices. Now I'm hoping insurance pays out on 'market value' basis!

It appears to me that some stuff is still selling. But I don't believe the customer base is as big as it was hence 12000 on autotrader. I've got my eye on a few and some the dealers have had for well over 6 months

Having finally sold my self build (not at price hoped for ) and been looking for other van I am having second thoughts at moment especially after summer we have had,probably wait till next year. Owning a motorhome seems an expensive hobby unless you are getting good use out of it and its your main hols. Just my two penneth .!

Is it though in real terms compared to the cost of everything else? I was surprised when I looked at the rpi index over the past 10 years compounding has a pretty big effect.
The state pension for instance has gone from £8000 in 2017/17 to £11500 this year that's a pretty big change more than I suspect most would guess

Compared to the National living/minimum wage 2017 £13104 and this year £20820 approaching double what an OAP is expected to live on.

Well it is to me when my wages are the same as 15 years ago so.

Are you comparing the same van specifications? What extras are now fitted as standard that were not on a 2016 van? Similarly the interior finish will be 'better' so cost more.

Martin is right, in fact exactly 5% compound gives 2025 price as €292.

I presume those who complain would however approve of workers getting similar wage increases.

Of course smart buyers buy their currency forward if the rates are favourable.

Lenny HB at the risk of seeming very sceptical, maybe they set their 'Extras' prices to make the 'compulsory' extras in the new price appear that the price increase is reasonable.

What if u don't want extras and to be frank my old 2000 reg motorhome has superior cupboards and hard wearing finish then alot of similar motorhomes these days.

I can live without cruise control but I can't live with cupboard doors that fall off after a few months
