Mosel Meet.

We stayed at same site as JockandRita right near Saarburg. Lovely site - a very easy bike ride from the site to the town. Very pretty old town with water falls and lots of restaurants. We would definitely recommend a stay there for a few days.

I emptied the van of wine yesterday, the trocken red travels well, haven't tried the white yet ,

We are back on the Mosel from our little jaunt to Geneva. We travelled up over the Jura mountains to Millery and are parked up for the night on the tiny aire there before trundling up to Luxembourg tomorrow for fuel for the trip home.

Finished our Mosel spell yesterday and drove to Malmedy aire in Belgium old train station car park €5 per 24hrs plus 50 cents per kWh if you want electric, nice little town and had a good meal in Le Grill. Then off to the Stellplatz at Bad Aachen €17 inc electric to see the allegedly pretty old town. After a 3k walk into town and a 3k walk back I have to say although the architecture is good especially if you like churches, it wasn’t worth the effort!!

As we dont use toll roads, there is nothing in it, but we do have long range fuel tanks and I require tobacco. If I fuel up in Luxembourg I can get home to Liverpool with enough to get me back down to almost Canterbury on the way out again.

Headed up the River Saar and stayed 2 nights in the Stellplatz at Saarburg. Nice Stellplatz and town.

Sunday we went to a wine festival in a local village. We were supposed to go by train but ended up on a bus replacement service. Told the driver where we wanted to go but he did not let us off even though we stood by the door! Dropped us at next town where we waited half an hour for a bus back! Festival had some nice wine and home made food.

Monday we went into the pretty town centre and had an excellent lunch, followed by a cable car ride up the adjacent mountain.

Enjoyed the company of Bill and Lyn, @BILL 875 and Simon and Maggie @dabhand

Weather has turned nasty today, cold with squally showers So now back on the Moselle and holed up in the Stellplatz at Mehring. Got a nice pitch overlooking the river

Bit of a change in the weather since we left. Its the first time we have had the heater on since we left home.

Hi there. Glad your wine is good. Just a quick question - did you find the info for the foam insert for your “cocktail” cabinet.

On and off rain in Aachen not too cold though

Hello Peeps. :)

We stayed over at the Open Air Museum at Munster yesterday, and had a walk into the town (not on the Mosel, I know ;) ). It is a beautiful town, and beats Dortmund hands down for scenery, architecture, and character. (y)
It became cold and damp, and I nearly swapped my shorts for longs, however, after a 6 x hour drive, we are now at Calais for the train back to Blighty, tomorrow morning. It is windy, but pleasantly balmy, so the shorts are staying.........................for now.

Anyone at Spoons in Canterbury tomorrow lunchtime? ;)

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

Forced to drive 10 miles today. Stopped at Trittenheim just for a cup of coffee and then decided to stay. Much better weather with some sun, so everything looks much nicer. Got another nice spot right on the river.

Had a good lunch in a local restaurant, thanks to TripAdvisor again. And then sat in the sun drinking some of the wine we bought in Mehring yesterday. It's a hard life but somebody has to do it. :D2

Is that the Michelin Star one I mentioned Peter?

Had a look at Valkenburg then on to Ghent for a P4Night carpark freebie overlooking the canal, Bruges Thursday or Friday probably

Don't think so. We looked at the one on the road down to the river and Aire which was number one on TripAdvisor but decided it was too expensive for lunch. Went up to the one on the main road, called Seminarshof Weinstube, which was good.

Yes it was warm here today to. Getting chilly now that the sun has slipped below the hills. Next couple of days are forecast to be even warmer so enjoying it while we can.
Enjoy it while you gave it Peter. (y)

18 degrees here in Canterbury earlier today, and the same expected at home tomorrow. Shorts still ruling here.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

@Scout. I too am sorry to hear your news re the jaw bone Phil. :( I'm just pleased that you and Andrea had the opportunity to sample the Mosel, for the first time in your MH. Something to lookfoward to again.

Good luck with whatever is medically required to sort out the condition. (y) (Not heard of it before).

The very best of British to you.

Jock. :)
