Mosel Meet.

O dear Phil . So sorry to hear that but glad you went to the Mosel and we all had a great time and made great friends. Love to you and Andrea xxxxx

we certainly did, I never motioned to the consultation about all the wine/beer drinking

Sorry to hear this Phil. I assume it's as a result of the cancer treatment and absolutely nothing to do with the copious amounts of beer and wine swilling in the Moselle. :D Good luck with everything - hope they manage to sort it for you. (y)

they will try to sort it, but as you say its the treatment, so no big thing really, much better than the alternative :(.

they might operate and cut away the dead jaw bone and try to stretch my gum over the then healthy part, but they also said my gums are fragile and stretching them in one place my cause problems elsewhere, so for now its wait and see, but it does stop time away for long periods. :D2 I just keep smiling , how's the little doggie

He's absoutely brilliant! We're now working on leaving him for short periods of time so we can have a little bit of freedom. Here's a photo of him on our way home from the Moselle trip where we were parked up in Gravelines. Relaxed or what?
Also I must say how pleasantly surprised I was at how nice the Germans that we met during our travels in bars and on the ferry were to him. They almost always brought him a bowl of water and sometimes a treat even before they asked us what we wanted.

He's so cute, Ann! And he complements your colour scheme, perfectly. :D

Hiyall,
Have now left the moselle and Saarburg, a lovely town, had free night in Saarlouise nice town center but for some reason all but bars closed today, now on a stellplatz near center of Freiburg to look round the Black Forest after inspecting some bars here first of course.
Bill and Lynne
Yesterday was a Public Holiday on Germany , we got caught out trying to go shopping. :)

Sorry to hear about the jaw must of been the lack of wine and brandy that's caused the problem.
All the best missing you both.
Bill and Lynne

us two too, are you heading home yet or still traveling onwards

I think if we had another dog as company for him then he would be fine but at the moment I think he feels abandoned when we leave him. He's a rescue and has been through a lot in his short life and he's only 2 yrs old so .......... slowly, slowly.

Lovely dog but sitting like that it looks like a Teddy Bear. Have you checked for a Stieff button behind his ear? Could be worth something if there is. :)

The Mosel meet is finally drawing to a close for us but it seems a few of you are still soldiering on. What a fantastic response this this rolling meet has had with many new friendships made. We are now sitting on the old Bray Dunes Aire in town awaiting a ferry on Sunday night. We have just been out to lunch and had the best Moules and frits I have had in years, steamed in Roquefort sauce. Just chilling out for the next few days before attacking the M2, M25, M1, M6 and M62. Looking forward to next summers Mosel meet.

Have a safe trip back and I envy you the Moules Roquefort. There is a place in Brittany which we've been to a few times which serves it and I always choose this dish. :)

But very many thanks for prompting us to return to the Mosel. We first came here 40 years ago and we enjoyed returning but we are also now moving on.

Thank you!

Well our Mosel trip is still ongoing.

We went for a river cruise today. Caught the boat from Trittenheim to Bernkastel, which was a lovely little town to walk around. Bit crowded with several river cruise boats moored up. Then back to Trittenheim on the boat.

The views from the middle of the river are better than those from the roads. And going through the lock was interesting. On the way there we were joined by a big barge, which was as wide as the lock could take.

Off to see if we can get a place at Zell tomorrow.

I would only leave Stanley on his own on very rare occasions as he was so stressed by it, he would be cowering under the table when we got back and he is 11 years old !! but since we have inherited Jack from my mum it is amazing how we can leave them and go out a lot more these days as they have grown so close they have each other for company and they sleep together on the one bed. We wish we had always had two dogs it is a joy to see them play and we are so glad Stanley has a brother to share the last few years of his life with. Your boy is so lucky to have found you :D

Got home just after 13.00 hrs today. :)

What a sh1te journey through the Dartford Tunnel (queued for ages), then up the M11 (two lane only), and into the stop/start queue of traffic for miles. along the A14, due to the A1M/M1/A14 link being built. :(

The next big jolly, will be down to Spain in December. Looking forward to it already. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I’ll post this here as our Mosel trip is virtually at an end, cheers Dave @Snowbird for the suggestion of a RoRo Meet, great idea, sorry we couldn’t get to you before you left. We met some really nice people, new (to us) funsters and some old hands and enjoyed the company of all, cheers, you know who you are, and lovely to see and spend time with Dave @Busman and Maggie again, as we haven’t seen them for about 2 years.
Got the dog sorted at a vet in Ghent (€35) for the trip home Monday and then to the Aire in Bruges, (€19 winter rate, instead of €25) with 6 amp electric We have never been here before it’s a lovely place (although incredibly touristy) got the bus in to town (11 or 12) from the “Barge” over the road, 1 hour ticket, use as much as you like in the hour (n) €6 for two so technically you could use it as a return! Although it’s not that far to walk, we got here late, so bussed it, and wandered around for 3 hours getting our bearings for tomorrow, still managed to take in the main squares, a meal, a pint (€8.5 bloody euros) a few churchy type sights, a black cherry ice cream, and some vomit inducing (almost but not quite) Belgian chocolates, we saw swans, boats, Gothic Spires, chocolate tittiies, gypsies, tramps and thieves, did I mention chocolate tittiies? And Cher, nice.

Very good weather too on the Mosel once the river mist lifted.

Drove to Zell and got a place on the Stellplatz by the footbridge. Here is the view over the river to Zell from my moho as I sit outside typing this in the evening.

Into Zell for a lovely lunch today accompanied by local wine. TripAdvisor did us well yet again. Then a wander around the delightful little town. Ended up sitting for ages overlooking the river with a beer or two.

There is a wine festival this weekend so we are definately staying for at least two nights.

Seen very few Brit vans the last few days, but if there are any Funsters in the area we would love to meet up with you.

The river mist burnt off by 11am ish, so we are now sitting on the banks of the Mosel next to our Moho in glorious warm sunshine. Definitely shorts weather.

Just had a motorhome lunch, bread (German) cheese (French) and wine (Mosel).

We are trying to find the energy to wander into town later.

Go for it guys. I just had a dozen oysters for starters followed by a lamb brochette washed down with a bottle of Cote de Rhone and followed up with a 4 boule ice cream and coffee calva. Time for a couple of hours kip now before dinner at 7. I like this living high on the hog :D.

When I were a lad....

We had asparagus, then BBQ with mixed salad and homemade yogurt mayo, bread and five different cheeses (French, Spanish, German, Swiss), then apricot tart, then mille feuille, washed down with Julienas, and now coffee cognac, all served al-fresco outside our van.

Rain tomorrow, in Beaujolais.

Ive had porridge :(
