If you want free apples, pears, walnuts and plums its worth having a ride over the roads that go up over the top from one valley to the other, there seems to be trees at the roadside that don't seem to be harvested !! Some of the roads are a bit steep and twisty !

:D
We are at camping Knaus on the Mosel, tried for the one nearer the town, but they wouldn't take 3 vans for a few nights. Site is ok ACSI and not too far a walk so will be going later when it cools down 32.4 in the van and guess who told me we wouldn't need the fan. Hope to meet up with some funsters on this trip. I am the only one of the 3 vans, well if the others are memmbers they aint owning up to it.
Only drawback so far Bloomin Trains.

Great pic. The only van that is out of shot is ours

:D

We’re now at Mosel Beach. The on-site cafe appears to be closed. And it’s blowing a hoolie.

Looks like another platz behind across the road couldn’t find it in C.C. or Bordatlas though?
Then there is the one behind the Bar/Restaurant on the main drag, (access via a side street). No charge when we were there last year, but did spend in the establishment. Not a lot to do in Piesporter...............for us anyway. ;)

There were quite a few empty places here at Traben-Trarbach, but not many left now. Local wine Festival begins today. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Camper Contact shows both.

If anyone needs to get tapeworm treatment for their dog before returning back to the UK I can highly recommend this one just outside of Bernkastel-Kues. We took our dog yesterday, had our own worming tablet and the cost was ZERO! They were so friendly and professional. The road they are on is a cul-de-sac and is plenty big enough for large motorhomes with a decent turning area.

At Cochem, just a few minutes outside the town, it's raining today and it's wet

BTW dont try driving upto the castle at Cochem !

Just stoped at an arie about 20k from dunkirk. The roads back where much worse for pot holes than going, the road works around luxenburg are a pain in the arse . All in all a crap drive back, wishing we were still there

Safe journey @Scout . We were fine to Calais but up through England was dreadful with accidents and roadworks!!

We were in Cochem today Jim with @BILL 875, Bill & Lyn, got the bus from the Stellplatz at Ernst (€10 Return for 5 on a family ticket) so it’s about €3 Return each, Lovely place, had a nice lunch, and then coffee and cake in the coffee house on the front by the bus station.

Anyone know of any maintenance companies about the Mosel, might need one. Sitting in the van and heard the pump going and German outside going apeshit thinking I'm dropping grey water. Think one of the water hoses has come off behind the toilet/shower can't see how to get at it ??

There was one on the road into Bernkastle on the right hand side of the river heading north just before the bridge, never used it myself

If it’s a hose behind the toilet shower doesn’t that mean it’s running through (and on) the floor?

Not sure Simon, when the pump was on the water was coming out under the toilet cassette which is dry. Van on a slight tilt nose down. Minimal water on floor.
Cheers

Surely you are not suggesting folk should STEAL others folk's produce?

Under the cassette in the cassette chamber (when you open hatch) or under the van Dave?

Is clean or waste water?

Anyway talking of engineers, my bloody Alde panel went off the other day came back on for a day and now it’s permanently off. There’s a thread on here about cutting the thermal fuse off the PCB and soldering a new one in place. Anyone on the Mosel know how to do this thank you very glad!!:(

We heard lots of stories about the roads being bad but where we went they were fine and a treat to get there and back with no tolls.

It depends what your interests are but Eltz castle might do the trick :) https://www.burg-eltz.de/en/

They do a tour in english , and there is a shuttle from the parking to the castle , E2 its nice walk to castle , but uphill on way back :) @dabhand

I would never suggest such a course of action , these are growing in public un fenced places (y) and are just dropping produce !

Having enjoyed the mosel for the last 2 weeks ,we have on the spur of the moment swapped the river for the sea.
We drove from Keston to bandol on the tolls .
Every toll was class 3 and we had to press for assistance to change to class 2.
We last came here over 15 years ago and it has changed.
Tried to get to 3 camper stops and couldn't find them .
In the end parked in a petrol station with parking 11pm.
So we are going to drive up along the coast looking for campsites and chill out for the week.
Can anyone recommend one.

Going was a lot better than coming back
