Mosel Meet.

We went out tonight for a meal with Jock and Rita to one of the local vineyards. Excellent meal with very good wine at a very reasonable price. It takes a lot for me to miss Cora, but it was worth it.

Thanks for your company Dave & Pat. A smashing night out, great grub, and a lovely drop (or two) of that Dornfelder. ;)

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

Yesterday it was blue skies and glorious sunshine Phil, with thundery shower through the night.
This morning it is overcast and misty, but warm. Great for the grapes.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We go over Saturday on the tunnel hoping to get to the Mosel midday Sunday for a short visit.

Have only had our motorhome less than a year now so still learning lots.
Spent 6 weeks in France earlier in the year and was expecting to spend another 4 weeks in France again in Sept/Oct.
However after reading this thread over the last few weeks has given us a new destination, now all booked for the tunnel on Sat. and plan to be at Saarburg Sunday/Mon then next 3-4 weeks wandering up the Mosel and possiby including the Black forest.
Will just see how it all goes, hopefully try some of the local wines and meet a few funsters on our travels.

Mike

We are going over on Sunday night so hoping to meet fellow funsters. Can’t wait. It must be 30 years since we were last there with our kids and a folding camping trailer .!

At Zell now, but couldn't get a pitch with a nice river view....................however, as soon a a big Dethleff moved out, Rita was out that door, and on that pitch.. We have a lovely riverside view now. :LOL:Cheers,

Jock. :)

Which one are you on Jock. The one by the swimming pool or the one facing the town ?.

Arrived today at the marina at Peruwelz, Belgium. Really lovely place right by the canal. 6 euros incl elec. Nice clean toilets and hot shower for 1.8 euros. Camper contact says only 10 pitches but we were the 11th to arrive and the nice man at the boatyard office made some room for us, however there are now 13 vans on site!. Weather is hot, sunny and humid - very different to the weather when we left Canterbury P & R this morning. Visiting rellies in Belgium tomorrow, then Luxembourg for the obvious, then start of Moselle tour. Hope we get to see some Funsters during the trip.
Hi, were planning to overnight at Perewelz tomorrow, can you remember what time you arrived i.e. site got full?
We may have to look for alternative stop.
Thanks Mike

Hi, we're doing exactly the same next Wednesday, please let us know how full Peruwelz is and whether you find an alternative
Thanks

We stopped there about two weeks age and there was plenty of space.
There are no marked out bays and it’s quite a large parking area. Might be more of a problem if you insist on hook-up as the bollard is only on one side.

Fellow that looks after the aire is very pleasant and helpful.

Richard.

@Scout. Sorry to hear that Phil. :( You do whatever is best and needed for your wellbeing. (y)
I hope it's not a return of gum infection. :(

The one nearer the footbridge and campingplatz Dave. We came here first to suss it out, with the cordinates already programmed for the other one..............just in case. ;)

We arrived on Sunday, just before lunchtime, and there were a fair few already parked up, but several more arrived later. 8 x EHU points. The grub from the restaurant looked very inviting, (was very popular too) and the beer was delicious. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

For attention of anyone thinking St Aldegund , not a bad site includes ehu For 9 eu a night if no elec 7 eu right by river , but does seem to be a bit noisy :)

At Burgen. ACSI campsite nearly full, couldn't accommodate a 7.5m motorhome. Now in a hotel car park stellplatz at the back of the village. Full facilities including EHU, but 15 euros.

Hi Max. :)

The Stellplatz we are on, (near the foorbridge) wouldn't be suitable for RVs, but the one next to the road bridge and roundabout might. There were lots of spaces on there at 08.00 ish this morning. We'll be here until Monday morning at the very latest, but may come back later on. I'm not sure if you can overnight up at the Globus centre.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

@JockandRita cant advise on Globus , but there is always a lot of MoHo up there when we visit first thing in morning
will be having a scoot trip to Traben today , might try and catch you later this afternoon :) .

You can overnight at Globus, there are dedicated motorhome parking spaces but no water and dump facilities. Also the Globus restaurant is very good and cheap.

We should be about mid afternoon, as we are dining out at around 17.00 hrs. (y)
If you do pop by, look out for the 6 x legger Hymer with the Ecosse & Cymru badges on the rear bumper, in Bay No 6

Re Globus, I've had it confirmed thanks, that overnighting is acceptable up there. We'll be moving up there tomorrow sometime.

Another confirmation. Thanks Dave. (y)

BTW, it was only 14 degrees in the MH this morning, as opposed to the usual 20 degrees, so the heating went on. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Cool night and start 11C at the moment top of 20c first poor day :( still forecast to be dry :)

Got there at 12:40. If you can try to get there earlier. If you don't want elec and a front line pitch by overlooking canal then you shouldn't have a problem if you arrive later. Good luck.

I have my electric fan heater on a time switch so as it comes on at 6am so no idea what the temperature is like just yet as I have not been on the bread run. 16amp hookups rule :D.

Neer, 12.50 euros. Just 12 MH places on River Meuse riverfront adjacent to a small marina. Water, showers. Secluded space for tables, chairs etc. Cash collected around 5pm. Two hours from Rotterdam.

Thanks for this lovely spot: we're here now (Sat 8/9/18 3pm).

Unfortunately we got notice of a family problem just after disembarking at Hook of Holland so we are moving slowly in case we have to make a swift return. Looks like Bavaria and Austria will be too far.

Considering Vianden tomorrow then onto the Mosel by Wednesday but Neer is very relaxing so we may stay for both allowable nights.

Enjoy while you can. There’s a Spar, a Bakerei and a couple of other shops in the village. Chemical toilet is behind the cafe (up the steps to the road and turn right).

Anyone at Mosel Beach Stellplatz, Mehring? We expect to arrive about 11:00 a.m. Is it very busy at the moment?

Many thanks to @tacr2man, Sue & Max for popping over to visit us at Zell yesterday. :)
As you say Max, it's great to put faces to names. Sorry we couldn't be more hospitable/adventurous with the refreshments, as you were driving. Another time hopefully. (y)

At the recommendations of @garjanco, Gary & Janet, we ate out at Restaurant Turmblick last night, just a short walk from the Stelplatz Kaimt. We both had Rump Steaks, which were delicious, and when we spoke to our younger German neighbours on our return, they set off for the same. ;)

Moving on today sometime, but only to service the MH facilities, then up to Globus and the Retail Park.

The weather is looking good for the next few days. (y)

Don’t forget Globus is shut on a Sunday and they shut the barriers to the car parks
