Mosel Meet.

Pity we missed you @Snowbird , but RV is the biggest your allowed , will have to get a flag mast
Might see you later , popping up to Cochem Sun (on bike ) and then will decide which is next stellplatz to get the benefit of our patronage :)

Calais , dunkirk, lille namur luxembourg ring road round south and then IIRC A1 to Trier no tolls by diesel anywhere once in Lux E1.13 on thurs last HTSH @Jimbohorlicks
@Jimbohorlicks. That's the route we are currently taking Jim, ie, mostly Autoroute, with the odd slight deviation for overnighting, then back on in the morning.

I have to say that the Belgian Autoroutes have improved since my first drive down them some years ago, but their other roads are hellishly awful in places. On those roads, anything on our dashboard dances all over the place, including the Sat Nav, which is on a really heavy base. :(

I strongly feel that coming down the eastern side of France via Autoroutes would incur tolls, hence the non toll route through Belgium. If you don't mind non Autoroute roads, then yes, Eastern France is an option, but it will more than likely add several hours to the journey.

When are you heading down Jim & Lynn?

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

I did Dunkirk to Reil via Brussels,Liege,St Vith and it was 4.5 hours driving time. The Belgian roads were fine.E42 most of the way.No potholes ! I did it on my own in one go with a lunch break.

Hi, We will be leaving Calais next Sunday morning and going A16 > N225 > A25 > A27/A8 > A16/A7 Mons > A7 Namur > A4 Luxembourg Fuel > A1 Trier and according to my OLD map its should be toll free unless somebody knows better of course.
Bill

We will be through the tunnel on the 11th overnight at citi Europe then straight to the Mosel, undecided wether to start at Trier and go Up this Koblenz and go down. All depends on the weather
@JockandRita and @Jimbohorlicks hope to bump into you on a stellplatz somewhere

Just arrived at the stellplatz at Piesport, just got onto the last space! 5 hours down from Rotterdam including lunch. Bit cloudy though, but not cold, forecast looks a bit changeable all week. Never mind, having a lovely glass of burgander at the hotel next door overlooking the Mosel, bliss!!

Is that the stelplatz just past the end of the campsite, between the river and the stadium ? If so, it's a twenty minute walk into town, or 5 minutes the other way to Maccy D's for coffee and wifi. Look out for walnuts off the trees along the river bank, plenty of locals were gathering them when we were there.

After us deciding to ‘wimp out’ of Germany we have found plenty of sun.
Yesterday (Saturday) was breakfast on the Mosel, today it’s supper overlooking a lovely blue and calm med.

That's the one, will wander into town in the morning, the site is "functional "rather than pretty.

Agree, it is functional, but damned expensive at 10 Emus per night and once you start feeding that electric card it can go up to 15 Emus per night, which I think is scandalous for where it is with no view whatsoever. Its a good stopping off place before touring the Mosel, but thats about all it has inits favour.

we have had to cut short our trip by a week because dental problems, so we have only have just over two weeks, do we abandoned Germany and go where we know in France, or take a Mozell trip as planed, but were to start and avoid the Sxit places at the Trier end

but were to start and avoid the Sxit places at the Trier end
In order to avoid Trier we're thinking of stopping at Mehring first, specifically Mosel Beach Restaurant und Wohnmobilstellplatz.

We are currently at Sun Park stellplatz at Graach, just along the river from Berncastel, visited their wine fest today, great fun and a lot quieter than the weekend.
Stellplatz is moderately priced at 13 euros including electric, toilets and showers (if required) right on the river and across the road from the village with nice restaurants and vinoteques.
Off for some flammkuchen this evening and a glass of something!!
Bill

The responses to 'Which are the best Stellplatz?' seems to be 'All of them' - (except Trier that is!)
There are so many of them, can anyone recommend their favorites?
Thanks

I am on the Mehring Stellplatz right next door to the Mosel Beach one.It is called Zellerhof and it is 7.50 per night.
They seem to be the huge RVs next door.Ours is very friendly. There has been a Weinfest all weekend.
Mosel Beach restaurant is open to all including the cruise liner passengers.
Am going there shortly.

Snap! Left Edinburgh today for Rotterdam and the Mosel :)

Arrived today at the marina at Peruwelz, Belgium. Really lovely place right by the canal. 6 euros incl elec. Nice clean toilets and hot shower for 1.8 euros. Camper contact says only 10 pitches but we were the 11th to arrive and the nice man at the boatyard office made some room for us, however there are now 13 vans on site!. Weather is hot, sunny and humid - very different to the weather when we left Canterbury P & R this morning. Visiting rellies in Belgium tomorrow, then Luxembourg for the obvious, then start of Moselle tour. Hope we get to see some Funsters during the trip.

We are now in the lovely little village of Ernst, between Cocham and Bellstein Castle, on a vineyard stellplatz, bit uneven but sorted out with the air suspension! Weather is gorgeous, hot and sunny !

Came from Zell this morning, it was packed, people almost fighting over the electric points!!

Safe journey G-RMPS, hope we leave some sunshine for you!
