Will be different once the visa system comes in - overstay will pop straight up on their screen I am sure

Just a point - to make sure you don't get caught by the 90 day rule when going to Morocco, I believe you must get your passport stamped on exiting Spain/France. I know it'll be stamped by Morocco on entry/exit but you don't need any hassle when returning to Spain.

Absolutely but it shows the current system is in disarray as it varies at different border controls.
l also believe they are not that bothered tourists are not a threat.

Quite true, however,we do not know how tolerant they might be after all, when we were in the EU you were supposed to apply for Residencia in Spain after six months but it was more or less ignored and l never heard of anyone facing the consequences of overstaying.

Ah, but that was before we had the effrontery to leave the EU! We're a "third world" nation now!

Shame about the solar panels - timeless otherwise

Used to be an even more dramatic trip before they put the new bit of road in.

Have a look in resources, I think TerryL might have put something in there along those lines. To the best of my knowledge there are no large groups who meet up and cross together, although quite a lot of Funsters do meet up in small numbers and cross together and I would advise you read through previous threads and wait until around November when you will see much more activity from Funsters going to Morocco and this would be the ideal time to agree a meet up and crossing with someone who has crossed before and can walk you through the procedures.
Once on the other side most Funsters know what they want to do and set off. Some travel in pairs/or very small numbers and some head to the same destination like Tafroute.
Look at this load of Funsters who met up at Taghazout in 2015. There will never be a group like this one ever again.

For those in the picture, we had left the day before, but the wonderful Pam Jennings 6th from the left sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago John on the far right is indestructible at nearly 100 is still going strong. They only gave up Motorhoming just a few years ago. We did Morocco four times with them and had a wonderful time she has left a large hole in our hearts. We met on Estapona beach about 25 years ago and have been great friends ever since. I am sure that those that met her will never forget her, a very grand lady.

We fondly recall first meeting Pam & John (Prince/King Charles now).
Although not Funsters we came across them each time we visited Maroc. They were seasoned visitors to the country.

We were all pitched up on the cliffs at Tagazhoute, when this immaculately dressed couple walked by. They looked as though they’d just stepped off cruise ship. We got chatting and the rest is history as they say.

Pam & John helping me celebrate my birthday in Tafraout (2015).

RIP Pam, a lovely elegant lady.

Not sure if I have the link thing done correctly but into on this Tarifa vets website has helped me clarify a bit what I need to do to get my dog into and, more importantly, out of Morocco again. May be of use to someone. If the link doesn't work it is Clinica Veterinaria Europa - Tarifa.

Well that's going to cause a bit of an upset if it's actually accurate - and not some money-spinning exercise by a Spanish vet!
The only time we have ever had any form of check going into and out of Morocco was the last time when we "escaped" through Ceuta and Spanish Customs took all the details. Of course that may have had something to do with Br--it as I think it was the first time we'd re-travelled back to the EU after we'd left. Well you know what I mean!

Thanks for the info. I wonder if you have to have the titre done by an EU vet then or whether it can be sent to an EU approved lab from the UK🤔. We managed to get an EU passport for my dog in Belgium last month (from a vet on Maz’s list (thank you maz ) and we will be going over again in Jan via tunnel to Spain. Want the option of going to Morocco so will have to look into it more. Thought we were all sorted with all bases covered but now realised maybe not😫. Trouble is that if the titre has to be done in the EU then we wouldn‘t be home to receive the returned & certified passport. Also as it might take a couple of weeks to process it could be difficult if the vet verifying the lab result in the passport needs to be the same as the one ordering the blood test as we will be moving about.

We’ve just got a titre test done to be on the safe side - our vet researched it and found an EU approved lab in the UK. We did have an old one but thought that it wasn‘t worth the risk. The more worrying thing is this animal export certificate - sounds as though that would have to be done in the EU.

For entry to Morocco, an animal export certificate is required. This document is issued in official animal health centers, the nearest one in the case of Tarifa is located in the port of Algeciras Broken Link Removed

For the issuance of said document, it is necessary to previously carry out an Official Health Certificate, which certifies that the animal does not have any symptoms of infectious-contagious disease and that it is vaccinated and dewormed both internally and externally. This document can be done at the veterinary clinic.
For more information on this point you can go to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food:

Hi, I don't think the titre test has to be done in the EU, the sample just needs to be sent to an EU approved lab of which I think there are two in the UK. We got ours done a couple of years ago when it was thought that it might be needed for travel to EU from UK. my understanding is, as long as the vaccines are kept up to date, the titre certificate lasts for life. Hopefully, depending on your vet and lab turnaround times you could get it done before you go in Jan. Like you, we are planning to go to Spain in Jan with the option of a few weeks in Morocco.

I'm wondering now that even if I manage to get a UK vet to do the titre how the antibody result can be added to my dog's EU passport🤔 I think only an EU vet can authorise any entries to the passport. A UK titre test done in an EU approved lab I guess would be ok for the AHC though. It's a right pain.

wifi booster or TV aerial
TV aerial would be useless, WiFi booster might be of use although we've never needed one.

You ARE talking about Morocco aren't you?

I got a separate certificate with the titre test result. It was signed by the vet submitting the sample and contains microchip number and a barcode sticker relating to the sample. It is also stamped and signed by the lab. The vet stressed to us that we needed to take care of the document as we would not be able to get a copy. She did write in his now defunct UK passport but as you say a UK vet can't make an entry in EU passport. We are hoping to get an EU passport when we get to Spain. I'm assuming, hopefully correctly, that the official certificate will suffice as this is what the vet used when she made the entry in the UK passport. I'll show the Spanish vet the certificate and see if they are able to transfer the details to the new passport.
As you say, a right pain!

So, we missed this in 2022 - wife broke her leg on December 23rd - pandemic - you name it. So, we will be going January 2023 - let us know if you are going - helps to cross together.

So where is recommended to buy a sim card?

Maroc Telecom shop in Asilah is where we’ve bought from in the past.

Maroc Telecome, Av. Khalid Ibn Oualid, Asilah, Morocco
Cheers hoping to visit Morocco next month 15th on my travel insurance unless anything unexpected comes up, never been before so these posts on here are a goldmine!

Asilah is usually the first stop down the motorway after leaving Tanger Med.
Fuel, SIM card maybe a stop over at the guardian camping.

Beware the Maroc Telecom Shop is invariably busy. They have a ‘take ticket’ system but Moroccans don’t like queueing. Plus the shop shuts for 2 hours at lunch time from memory.
