Morocco 2020

OK all, I’ve stopped all over SPAIN but I’m interested in the shorter more direct routes to Algeciras with some decent stopovers on the way, looking For a bit of a change really!
Sod the shorter routes come and see us in Mojacar ?

Hardly relevant I would go so far as to say Ken, me old fruit pastel. Not many/any American citizens who are Funsters travelling in Morocco. Also, it's just a bit of arse covering as the advice being given is to be extra vigilant yet no actual threats received for yanks in Morocco. Bit like our foreign office, just say everybody is at risk in every country then if anything ever does go wrong they can say we did our job and our citizens were duly warned. Thank fu** we now have Boris our own master Jedi and lord god to protect us. Hail Boris, Hail Boris.

Live webcam at the port.

You can see the mh on the left.
Police drive round all night. Some really expensive boats moored up.

Is Tonic water available to buy in Morocco?

Never bought the stuff (it's poison you know, that's why the RAF advised to just drink the gin ::bigsmile:) but as far as I can recall in the big supermarkets as it's non-alcoholic I'd guess it is.

Edit - he beat me to it!

Is this thread a lot quieter than last year ?, or is it a little early ?, we are probably crossing on Monday, insallah

I would have expected to see numerous posts from people who have just crossed, crossing or about to cross.

Does that 'probably' refer to the Bilbao ferry that we should have been on Sunday night and is now probably going Monday morning?

Spent this gorgeous dry day packing the garage in readiness for the off..

Yeah we are expecting the same.
We did it in a force 10 that calmed to a 9 once.
We survived that OK and not expecting (hoping ) it to be that bad.

We have just arrived in Dieppe today and will drive down and expect to cross first week in February........well that's what it says on the Green Card.

Wish we had looked into making it a bit more flexible........but I guess a week won't make that much difference.

Today’s plan was to visit Carlos and stock up with essentials at the carrefour, however, it’s closed today. No problem, now on La Linea, stock up tomorrow and sail Tuesday insallah

Saw a “convoy” of 3 MH making their way to the Marina at La Linea. 1 was a Hymer, and another an Autotrail. Not sure about the third.
Might you have been one of them Hotelman?

Got a lovely smooth train through the chunnel now at a very peaceful Neufchâtel Hardelot, 30 miles from tunnel and don’t miss Cité Europe at all (y)

You can get straigt on the A28 from here but if you don’t want to pay the toll, I took the D901 and got on the free A28 just before Abbeville?

I hang on your every word mate but I did take the tolls on A63 and AP1 cost about €36 in total but saved hours I reckon we’ll worth it as I got from Cavignac to Palencia in 6 hours with a couple of short stops? Hope you are well cheeky chops, huge love to Mena

We paid €18 euro from Bilbao south, and that was all, all the way to Algeciras via Cádiz, great. Carlos now charges €190, the lady was quite insistent on seeing my ‘funster number’. The pressie was a packet of chocolate cookies and a bottle of sparkling cider. That will piss off the guardian at Assilah ?. Will be on the 8.00 ferry tomorrow and then overnight in Chefchaouen.

p.s had a nice Chinese, over the motorway from Carlos’s,

You silly Bugger ! The difference between non toll and toll roads between Irun to Palencia is 5 minutes ! Much of the Non Toll route uses the A1 Toll free motorway and even some of the AP1 toll free sections. The two routes are almost the same. I'm coming with you the next time. When you get lost in Morocco, call me. Oh Please!! Off the reserve list......again.

There's another Chinese restaurant about 5 mins walk on the same side of the main road, just go up around Carrefour and keep walking to the end of the bloch. Think it's called City Wok, opens about 8.00 pm and is an all-you-can-eat buffet fixed price with a wide range of different things to try, some already cooked, others you take to the "kitchen" and they cook it to your liking. Plus different sweet courses - however drinks are extra! We thought it good value, paid around €15 pp if I remember correctly.

PS - For the Viages Normandie discount code check the Resources section! :banghead:

Simon! What an I going to do with you. This A63 motorway is not pay-on-exit; it is pay-at-toll-points, of which there are four. The two most northerly of these can be avoided by leaving the motorway between exits 18 and 17, and again between exits 12 and 11. with a fixed fee and is not based of distance travelled on A63. So, you come off before toll gate and the rejoin again. So, if heading south. come off at 18 rejoin at 17. Come off at 12 (good Aire in Dax) and rejoin at 11. Stay on for the remaining toll gates (only a few euro's until you reach the boarder at Irun.
