Morocco 2019

Good Morning Funsters ! That was some night last night eh! Poor Mena had to climb over me at 2 am so she could go outside and retrieve my flip flops, chairs and find more huge rocks to keep my new Moroccan carpet in situ. I was expecting to see a lot of carnage this morning as a lot of the Frenchies have kept their awnings up at night but the gods must have been smiling on them as they were all stored away when I ventured out of the motorhome this morning. Looks like a bit of damage to the campsite restaurant though. I must have slept through it all.

Rough in Sidi ifni too. According too Meteo Maroc set to stay windy at nights for two days so blinds in guys.

I was talking to her at our tea time gathering about Rugby of all things Marc and she just happend to mention they had just come from there and the new road was very good. There were also a Welsh couple here and they. Will you be in Tafroute when we stuff your team again, we can get together and sing funny welsh songs like 'cum by my arm' and other weird shit and both get rat arsed and then I can watch you cry.

:LOL::ROFLMAO: That’s reminded me of funny you are lol,
I’d loved to have been a fly on the wall and witnessed this convo with ze french lady  either your french has improved since last saw you or i suspect you just shrugged your shoulders muttered Oui and walked away assuming that’s what she said ;)
Yes I will be in Tafroute towards end of the week hopefully, would be nice to watch the game and have a beer or two in the process,
Look forward to catching up, love to Mena

You know me so well Marc. Being English and being me, it is my expectation everybody had to speak English when having a conversation with me. The French lady spoke a bit of English and I thought she did well to make herself understood. Dont know what Oui means, looked it up in the Oxford dictionary and its not there, must be one of those weird Welsh words commig from the Valleys. I have to admit, I do enjoy being in your company and enjoy your sense of humour and also your sense of adventure. Sam and you have had some great travells recently and I have enjoyed following you both on this forum. Yes let's get together in Tafrote and share some time together.

Hi Nik, Welcome to the wrecked mirror club. We spent 7hours at the Fiat agents in Agadir on Wednesday only to be told there's none in Morocco, 30 days to Get one at a cost of 4.700 Dirhum plus fitting. I have managed to stick mine together but intend to buy a bathroom mirror to put over it if it disintegrates .
Terry L and us are still in Takat heading Sidi If no soon

Although it startd calm this morning in Takat and I put the awning out, by mid-morning it had really freshened and the site receptionist was going round advising folk to wind their awnings in. It's gone a bit cloudy now and a lot cooler. Ventusky shows cloudy and cooler for 2 days.

Wifi is a bit iffy so haven't been on for a day or two. Nice to see everybody spread out over the country enjoying themselves (sorry @nic about your mirror, we've seen a few others suffer the same fate, one right in front of us - I managed to get onto the hard shoulder to miss the oncoming b....d!).

Hi @TerryL
I've managed to do the same as @Portland and stuck Karens makeup mirror over the shattered one. Works to appoint but she still insists on doing her mascara at 50KPH. the results are remarkable though!
We stopped at the Gendarmerie Royal near where we had the accident and after a very mild telling off for not calling police at the time we were sent on our way with a laugh and a smile. we will see what happens when we go to leave at Tangier Med in 2 weeks!!!
Now in Atlanticparc outside Agadir and off to Marrakesh in a couple days once weve got over the shock of nearly having prison food for a few days.

Safe travels.

Sorry about the double post!.

Hot News......
I've just heard from other friends we met in Fez. Diamante Vert has been totally closed for the time being. A bungalow exploded (believed gas) and then there was a protest by workers . All campers were told to leave.
FYI. I don't have any info regarding reopening.
Safe travels.

Hi Nik and Karen

Dont know if you ve been and done the night thing at Jemaa El Fnaa before but well worth seeing at least once. Parking Koutoubia is very handy for it if you are Ok to travel through Marrakech, nice and easy to get to from the south though.

Really glad you re enjoying Maroc.

Got to agree it's really worth seeing at night...............Koutoubia sounds great for some.........if you're not so brave we took the taxi in from Le Relais and a night in a Riad.

Was planning something similar for Fez but thanks to @Nik for the update on Diamant Vert............hmmm now what was our Plan B.

BTW Sorry to hear about the mirror problem........ "there but for fortune"

This maybe of use to you @billym and others travelling East on the N12 and planning to stop at Tazzarine.

The only site I can see listed anywhere is the Camping Amasttou but there seems to be some difficulties with access and with a "variable" pricing structure.

Can't be bothered with all that hassle........................
.............although a way out of town Camping Serdrar seems a good alternative

Not long left Marrakech, great place to see, the koutoubia car park is easily accessible so long as your brave, camping le relais is a fantastic campsite, just a word about eating in jemaa el fna, don't, over priced ,miniscule portions ,not very tasty, and the hassle is just tooo much,

For any of you that are going to tiznit, if your going to use the municipal camp site ask to go next to the swimming pool, it's so much better than the big site, also if the sites are full there is a bit of waste ground opposite the municipal site which is free, right next to a small supermarket ( no booze),

We'll probably be calling at the Tiznit supermarket on our way through on Monday. We've used the campsite just off the N1 (visible from road) 6km south of Tiznit a few times. Believe @PhilandMena are there at the moment.

Correct Terry and joined today by Brian and Anne. Plenty of room here for both lecce and non lecce pitches. Told this morning that lecce is unreliable as Brian's fridge keeps dropping out of lecce and switching back to gas. We shall be leaving tomorrow as we have run out of veg and need to do another shop. So may well try the Municipal at Tiznit or back to Aglou Plague for a couple three more days
We have friends in Tafroute at the moment and they ate advising to hold of for a few days as the weather is not great and still crappy in the mornings.

It's a long way until the Carrefour at Fez

Thanks.

Currently at Palmeraie d'Amezrou near Zagora. Great site. Everything spotless and hot showers

It is a 20 to 25 minute walk into Zagora but is basically in the small town of Amezrou on the N9 to Mhamid.

This is the first place we have really been hassled by shopkeepers and kids and they are a pain.

We paid an interesting guide to take us round the kasbah in Amrezou. Cost us in the end 70 dhm. At the end we were given a hard sell of rugs etc but we were not buying.

Still planning plan A B or C

Hi Derek did you manage to get a contact name and number for the mirror man, very handy for future, maybe Terry could add to his guide

Hi Folks, further to my post I have dug around and managed to find the following information
Agdz, Supermarche Tazarine sells beer, wine and spirits. It is on the outskirts near Agdz camping 30.693791 -6.45881

There is a liquor store up a track near Camping Sidibad in Zagora, you would need to park in or outside the Camp and walk the last bit. As far as i know you can definitely get beer but don’t know if they sell other alcohol 30.328568 -5.831266

Ouarzazate has a supermarket selling alcohol 30.920242 -6.915372.

We haven’t personally been to any of them but they were recommended by a friend who was travelling through Morocco last winter who had run out of booze.
We come prepared

Well, looks like we're staying here for another day, found some mince in freezer, have pasta and tomatoe sauce. Job done.

Serious question for those who have or are driving around Morocco. I expect to be doing the same from Monday and l was wondering if there are any additional precautions to take for the van with what l assume could be an excess of sand driven by the wind, blocking filters etc. Should l cover the front grill or am I being just over cautious on this matter?

Haven't looked for the store in Zagora but the campsite here sells beer and wine on the quiet.

But did you ask him the price of beer ?!!, but agree a great site, it’s worth travelling down into the desert, plenty of places on camper contact.

No I am on a beer free diet.
Down to the desert is plan B
East is plan C and haven't got a plan A
It's a bit windy here at the moment so maybe plan D

If it calm try this , and it’s a location you’ll never forget, if it’s windy you won’t forget about it either !!
