Morocco 2019

I’m here about to eat my words, we’re now at camping international in Agadir, I’ve said historically it was a night mare place and wonder why people stay here, especially the French for the winter....however we are here again, and the place is growing on me, yes it’s a bit of a shanty town, no proper facilities, but it works. Also it’s lovely to have a nice lunch with a beer and decent wine on the seafront.
And walking around it’s the same vans in the same place, getting leccy from wherever, and however they are able to get access to the water and drainage I’ve no idea, but they do and it works.

We are at Camping Aourir and it rained most of the afternoon :( Blue sky now but chilly. :cold:
We stayed there 4 separate times last year, a nice site, and a short trip into the village .

Where do stay we stay in Sidi Ifni?, planning on being there tomorrow or Wednesday. Thanks

We had planned on staying at Camping Aourir as we had seen such bad reports of International in Agadir.

BUT we do like our city visits and as @Hotelman has reported we also stayed at the International and found it bearable.Cannot understand why so many would overwinter, but there are plenty.

Same as the Sidi Maghoul in Essaouira ..............terrible facilities but you are right in the centre of the city action (if you like that kind of thing) Of course both sites are close to the emergency alcohol facilities, which is maybe why so many choose to stay for so long.

There are 3 sites in Sidi Ifni itself..........Barco,Ifni and Canaria all in the centre. But despite what I said before we used Tamhrouchte on the left just before you get into Sidi.Great space and facilities, as others have reported and we cycled into the centre or cheap bus or taxi so the best of both worlds.

Great meal and bottle of wine at Le Nomad in the centre

Barco is the only one with a view, been here 5 nights now. Need to arrive late morning to get a front pitch.

Facilities grim though glad we've got our own shower etc.

A very wet night. However, on the plus side motorhome cleaned a bit and today, so far, is much better than forecast with blue skies and a gentle breeze coming off the sea.
We were joined by Martin and Sue yesterday who will be leaving shortly and we expect their space to be taken immediately as a number of motorhomes have just arrived and parked up below the hotel. Watched United beat Chelsea live last night in the restaurant.
We still have a great view from our motorhome.

We will soon start back towards Tanger Med , on the way we're going to Fez etc, where is the best place to stay? the guardian by the wall or a camp site.(n)(n)

WE have stayed at both. The campsite is very good by Moroccan standards but it is quite a hike in a taxi into the city so we didn't bother.
The guardian parking in Place Boujloud is perfectly situated for visiting the Medina being just a couple hundred yards from two of the main entrances - Bad Boujloud and the Blue Gate. No facilities of course and it can be noisy during the day with kids from the adjacent school. Quiet enough at night though.
Incidentally don't believe all the nonsense about the Medina being so complicated that you need a guide to avoid getting lost. We found a shop selling maps just outside the Blue Gate and this made navigating reasonably easy.
If you do get lost, just keep heading downhill and you will eventually emerge at one of the gates on the far side of the Medina where you can just get a petit taxi back to your van.
Don't accept help to find your way about from a "helpful" local, you will never get rid of the bugger and will be dragged into every shop owned by his large extended family and their friends.
On the plus side the Medina predominantly makes its living from the locals and is not dependent on tourists the way Marrakesh is so you won't get much hassle. You still need to haggle though if you are buying something, just like the locals have to.
When we visited Fez we spent a couple of nights at the campsite to get laundry done and to fill up with water etc and then a couple of nights in the city to do the sight seeing. 2 days was enough for us to see just about everything we wanted to.

Definitely the guardian near the wall

Don't forget it has been reported by @Nik that Diamant Vert Camping for Fez has been closed .................I have heard recently it's now permanent.

Guardian Parking sounds OK, but anymore info about the campsite always welcome.

Good afternoon, acclimatising in Asilah for a day or two. Can anyone recommend any further sites south along the atlantic coast between here and (excluding) Casablanca please?

Ocean Bleue at Mohamedia is ok as long as its not raining.

But if you after sea and scenery I would go asap to Oualidia and then work down.

best just take every road or piste to the sea. lots of great free parking along that coast. stay off the main roads as much as possible. just right turns till you get to the sea then turn left and keep the sea on your right.
yes some might be dead ends but at least you get a good adventure . most miss the best bits by dot to dot camping and main road driving.
soon be good up inland up the mountains give the snow chance to melt.
but hug the coast all the way down. great parking places below dakhla around the gulf de cintra region.

We've used Camping L'Oasis International at Dar Bouazza couple of times, just south of Casablanca. Pleasant enough site although facilities could do with modernising, electric usually works.
Avoid driving through Casablanca, use the motorway follow Rabat then after a peage exit Had Soualem, take main road towards Casablanca then around 3km, past an Afrique petrol station turn left SP Dar Bouazza. Keep straight on, across couple of crossroads until you reach T junction on a main road, turn left site is about 1 km on right on a roundabout. The link road is a bit rough, take it easy.

Would also recommend Oualidia but it's quite a long drive from Assila. We stayed a few days but did it in two hops.

if your on the coast road casa is easy just hug the sea . have a good look at the mosque as you pass . all interesting . keep your eyes open and you will pass the mitsubushi factory in casa as well.
up the coast as you leave sale you cross the river then get turned round and then you can turn left and follow the river to the coast and go through rabat right by the sea , great drive.
at safi head or the port but turn left just before you get to the port and again you can follow the sea and get through safi.after safi the industry is very interesting on the left as you drive by.

Just looking at an instagram feed, thick snow in Imlil, pleasant here in Aglou plage. A very nice campsite, only a 5 min walk to the beach, some nice looking ‘restaurants’ but very quiet. But real big waves rolling in, take care if you are going for a paddle and make sure you then don’t lose your shoes !!

Sorry @vwalan but we are 6 weeks into our first Morocco trip and I would advise any other first timer looking to acclimatise and find sites to avoid the suggestions you have made.
They specifically wanted to avoid Casa no matter how easy it might be.

We knocked on your door, no reply and the blinds were closed (y)

We were probably walking on the prominarde or in the restaurant having coffee. Thank you for making the effòrt. We could struggle up the hill and introduce ourselves around midday if that's ok with you. I have promised my wife a day out and see an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

ttps://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Auto+Hall+Industrial+Vehicles+(Ahvi)/@33.6181975,-7.5502789,10348m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0xda7cb8896eeb84d:0x9a87e6a5f8cffe74!8m2!3d33.6245854!4d-7.5208926
have a look here .the auto hall is the mitzy factory . come in on that coast road the r322 then follow it south ,go closer to the sea just after the docks then pass the mosque . stay by the coast and later on take the road back inland . means go left near the big cinema and inland to the r320 road .
amazingly easy and you have a good look at the city but not really in it. the hassan 11 mosque is famous.
plus further along you could call in the surf club. ttps://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Auto+Hall+Industrial+Vehicles+(Ahvi)/@33.5843116,-7.6911485,647m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0xda7cb88
inshallah.
