Morocco 2019

Recieved this text this morning

La 9éme Edition du festival des Amandiers aura lieu à Tafraout Du 28 Février Au 03 Mars 2019

Or sh*t wells. Many French were tipping down a dry well located beside the dry whadi in Tafraoute, the first time we went there. There were Moroccans using another well lower down the whadi so their water must have been contaminated with raw sewage.

The first time we went to Tagazhoute, the guardians had concreted the door and window apertures up of an old ruined building, which became a huge holding tank for motorhome sewage. Trouble was, it was never pumped out and consequently was full to overflowing.

I was wondering if @SUGGY was over here in Morocco as we would love to meet up with you and Rosie

I guess we will miss the Almond Festival but thanks for the info.

We want to visit Tafroute and see the painted rocks.................but not rocks painted with excrement.

Planned on staying at Granite Rose which I think/hope/pray is a bit more organised.

Sue, Martin and we have moved down into Sidi Ifni this morning. Onto Camping Gran Canaira. It's pretty much rammed and little space between motorhomes. No d3signated pitches but other than that seems ok. Eighty Dirham with lecce and no WiFi and can't hold a candle to the campsite Mena and I have spent 5he last 14 days on. What a great find that was. Anyway, we will push on tomorrow only stopping the one night so we can hit 5he fish market this afternoon and stock up with fresh produce before leaving. Martin and Sue will stay a bit longer and possibly return for a few more days at our previous stop. We will spend beer o'clock in the bar across the road later this afternoon.

A great site, I went on the scooter to get beer from the carrefour today, a real challenge, I will enjoy the beers even more (n)

I sight I will not forget in Marrakesh, two young girls in non-existent mini skirts, both eating ice creams -- riding a scooter -- no crash hats. Then you see an old lady on a donkey. What a place of contrasts.

In reply to your questions PhilandMena Regarding the no of vans I recon about 100 .Temperature now in excess of 30 and this morning our friends said it was 5 at 6 am but by the time l got up after nine sun was streaming in to the van and l was warm enough to walk into town by 10 in shorts and T shirt. Water truck was round this morning and bread man is still delivering .Can’t remember what it cost in2017 but the price per night is now 15 Dhm .Because everything this year is an hour later it means it is warmer when you get up and the sun doesn’t dissapear behind the mountains so early

So is a 50% increase. Costs in Morocco are climbing at a rate that will turn away people. Even now you can find Aires and campsites in Spain as cheap as many now charging in Morocco. People will soon start to do the math and it won't look good. Green card, ferry cost, Toll road costs and additional mileage. Many who are new to Morocco will not see the changes taking place and it won't be too long before people choose to stay in Spain me thinks. Enjoy it while you can.

mind if the shipping and a ferry from tarfaya to uk get going africa will be the winter place to go.
cut out eu totally.

And IF........ it doesn't get going we'll just be "cut out eu totally" I'd rather not rely on all the IFS

We ended up here.

Sat in the gardens , the tent and finally around the campfire talking to a totally ecclectic mix of people . All a bit surreal .

Well, Mena and I will be leaving Martin and Sue (also Brian & Ann who we meet up with yesterday) , as we now swing north and head up towards Tiznit before moving into Tafroute. We had a very good day yesterday, I managed to buy 6 very fresh Dorado at the fish market and our group had the opportunity to see fresh fish being brought in including a sizeable shark and being gutted with the blood running everywhere. Last night was wine, beer and an evening meal at the each bar. I asked for the mixed fish and hit the jackpot , what a plate of fish they put in front of me.
Anyway, we plan to all meet up again in Tafroute and we look forward to being ion their company again. Great people.

With the amount of fish you eat Phil, its a wonder you haven't grown gills.

It would save you a fortune if you were any good at fishing!:rofl::rofl:

Heading out tomorrow from Kaouki Beach, a site we've sort of fell in love with, probably stop at Imsouane before Agadir for a big shop on Monday. We're then planning on trying the site at Takat which seems to have found favour for a few days. Will need to sort out more gas there as we're on our last refillable bottle. My small Moroccan bottle died last night and the local "Tesco" either won't exchange it or hasn't got any, the young lad seemed a bit vague about it.

After that maybe Sidi Ifni then up to Tafraoute for the Almond Festival - see you all there!

Hi, granite rose was virtually empty when we were there, it looks ok and they have washing machines etc,

Those of you heading further south from Sidi Ifni should be aware the road down to Gulmimn is being upgraded. Some sections are new road, some sections are rough track and quite a few diversions. Not a problem for the seasoned veterans but others in new motorhomes may find it a bit different from what they hope for. It's ok providing you take it steady on the rough parts.
We have now arrived at our next campsite and will pitch up here for 3 to 5 days. Very, very senic and very quiet. A picture of it as we drove in.

Bouzarkarne (y) Say hello to Lachem

Went down to taghazoute on the scooter today, the beach area is almost unrecognizable beach club with pool and sunbeds and the rest is coming up fast. The old road has pretty much gone and the village street is a complete mess. Restaurants and chez Josephine are still there but what a difference in such a short space of time. Will try and remember camera tomorrow.

We too were shocked at the state of the road. We came in from the North and the road has simply disappeared. The whole area has changed so much. The golf course is starting to take shape too.

Thought Camping Tinnougba was a great little site with a very friendly owner and think your pictures do it proud.
