Morocco 2019

Just listening to the ‘call to prayer’ and I’m pretty sure the imman spread the word that England had won the rugby :)(y)

I also think he said ‘England are being hammered in the cricket ‘ !!, I wonder if he has sky sports in his office !!

I'm sure ours is shouting "It's wine o'clock"

We have also had the reversed polarity indication but don't generally worry about it .................. UNTIL........bought some bits in the Souk and made up a reversed lead (just for something to do really)

Now confused that it still shows reversed polarity....................surely the opposite of reversed is "not reversed"......................... let's have a few posts of speculation.

I have come across this twice on this trip. I then take off my reversed polarity adaptor and just stick with original connection. I have on two sites been sucessfull when fitting the reversed polarity adaptor. Make of it what you will ??

Maybe you are right, even at 5am he’s right !!

To be fair................... despite previous posts Le Diamant Vert is well recommended as the go to place to stay for Fez..................it will no doubt have downsides like most/all/some of the campsites in Morocco

Are you over here this year then Dave?

Although looking at the weather in Fes - possibly not.

Jon

Nice quiet night at Koutuobia, parking was absolutely rammed but they squeezed us in - like they do. We thought Jmaa El Fnaa had less food stalls than they used to.

Update on the municipal camp site, the powers that be have welded the manhole/ toilet emptying shut!!!! The French are just going to the edge of the site and emptying

When we were there in 2016 and previously, there were designated areas for cassette waste, usually in a gully so winter rain would dispose of. As best as I can recall, last year they stopped users from using these areas and forced users to use campsites which obviously cleaned up in more ways than one and it all kicked off with a number of motor-homes moving off site which resulted in the town agreeing where cassettes could be emptied again, for free. It will be interesting to see how this one develops.

Here at Oualidia it's been wall to wall sunshine for two days but today it's been very windy, although still warm. We suffered from the rain on our way here on Friday and the van is filthy so need to find a lavage. Update to the guardian parking - they've opened the "public toilet" (under the bridge for your cassette) no charge. Yesterday the guardian plugged in a hosepipe near the entrance and everybody filled up for free, but no sign of it today - think you may have to request it. Usual vendors around, guardian pushing his wife's tagines. But we do like it here and have stayed longer than we expected to.

Multiple replies to posts, been offline for a couple of days:-

Market at Oualidia - we didn't think it was "awsome", but it sure is big and chaotic. Have seen better.

Electricity - frankly I don't care any more about low voltage, the fridge is bust on mains so it's gas all the time now. My 100w solar panel has managed to recharge my batteries by lunchtime.

Gas - thanks for confirming the Gaslow screw in adapter hose fits Moroccan bottles. I'll be buying one shortly. @PhilandMena last time I just connected up, didn't bother waiting for a bottle to empty, the system seemed to accept it as a big bottle.
Had a stupid thought last night - if I turned the Morrocan bottle upside down (a la Francaise), would that recharge the Gaslow? My thought was it would be liquid LPG, just like the pumps. Or am I off my trolley? If you hear a big bang..........

Fez - we parked at the spot Dave has indicated but it was heaving and frankly we didn't fancy overnighting there, but maybe we were a bit unlucky. We might try again on our way north.

Travelling with Portland we're planning to head down to Essaouira tomorrow, quick call at Carrefour for essentials then see if we can get parked up somewhere for a visit. Then maybe Sidi Kaouki.

Good to see lots of imformative posts this year and glad everybody seems to be having a great time. Hope to meet up with you at some point - we'd really like to visit the Almond Festival at Tafraoute so if anybody gets any further info please post.

Hi, we're in tiznit now, great drive from tafraout in beautiful weather any recommendations for places to eat?

That's exactly how we filled our gaslow bottle yesterday and all seems well

Hi @TerryL we used the lavage at oualidia and they did an excellent job, go to the roundabout and go the opposite way to which you would be heading and it's at a shell garage

Hi @TerryL we arrived at camping kaouki today. Nice and sunny but still windy - lovely though. Haven't taken the electric option lol. Wind has dropped a bit tonight. Road is much better 2 lane tarmac all the way so not a game of chicken anymore.

Please can you confirm your process @River gypsys .............................
Are you saying you bought a Moroccan for 140 dh and basically poured it in to fill your Gaslow bottle.:eek:

We will buy a bottle but intend to just connect it to the filler point when required towards the end of the trip.

We went to the shop next to Mohammed farih garage and paid 60 dirhams for him to refill our gaslow bottle, Andy watched him tie the red moroc bottle upside down in a tree and connect it to our bottle, he then stood and watched to make sure it was working, not leaking etc, left it there for about another hour and then went to pick it up, the gauge showed over three quarters full so we didn't buy the bottle, we've got it connected up ,all working no problems,

We are in tiznit now next to a German and he has a moroc bottle connected to his bbq point, we've also spoken to a couple of people who have just put the moroc red bottle directly thru there gaslow system also with no problems

Including me. Almost used a full bottle.

Well it had to come to an end at some time I guess. Benn sitting hete for almost 10 days with superb WiFi and in the last 36 hrs the motorhomes have been poring into the campsite because the campsites in Sidi Ifni are full (possible due to the very good weather we now have (25 deg. today) and m now having to share MY WiFi with others. We are also joined by two other sets of Funsters, Sue and Martin, John and Julie.
