Morocco 2017

The camel market is only on Saturday, maybe 50 ish. On a Friday and Saturday is a great market and an animal market, great sights, but not for vegetarians!!!.

We stayed at gite camping aain nakhla,
N 28.94308 w9.93813

On the same side of town as the marjane, about 9 miles, in the oasis area, loads and loads of hot water, good food bought to the van, and we had trip, and saw a 'herd' of about 80 camels including 5 day old ones, maybe only 6 miles from the site and again at a watering hole.

It seemed a long drive from tafaoute to agadir, through the mountains, the roads were very quiet and the scenery was SPECTACULAR. We left tafaoute at 7 am

How long did tafraoute to agadir take you hotelman ??

Now in sidi Kaouki but all is closed. Storm waves so the few surfers are holed up. having spent a few days at terre docean tagazout, had to get a new gearbox for the awning as it broke when out! Done the next day but knowing they had me over a barrel it seemed dear but heh ho. Tagazout busy but the only campers wc were a couple of km north.
Rain nd thunder so will move to Essaouria tomorrow

Left at 7 ish and arrived on the 'campsite' at about 11.30 ish, only stopping for fuel.
STUNNING SCENERY, as swmbo says, my eyes were on the road ahead, looking for other vehicles and potholes !!!

Bit of a breeze here at Erkount rocking the MH .

Had a few spots of rain but generally ok .

it is coming up to a full moon so there will be big tides ( spring ) so that would explain the big waves:notworthy2: at Sidi kouki

Abdel the owne at Erkount is doing a Valentine party on Tuesday.at Midday If anyone is down this way .

Still blowing here at Plage Blanche @20mph, tomorrow's forecast 35-40mph wind speed, had to tie a tarp over the engine grill as the sand is whipping. Looks like a day of watching films and drinking wine then.

Arrived Agadir 15.00hr. Driven through floods 18 inches +. Peeing down. Brought beer o'clock forward, SAT with. Abforfun , well what else is there to do. Don't think much of the site, further comments tomorrow once we have left

Sorry being a bit late with the reply due to internet problems horshamjack -- don't have co-ords but it is all easy to find. For the market go straight through the town about a mile until you find a set of traffic lights about 50 yards before a roundabout . Take a right and another right about 100 yards on, carry on 500 yards over the bridge and find the market on your right a further 500 yards.

For the parking at the police station drive as if going to the market but instead of taking the right by the traffic lights carry on a further 80 yards to the roundabout. Take the left and carry on to the fourth roundabout, the police station just past on the right and directly before is a big level area where we were directed to park with no problems.

P.S. TerryL kindly posted about being turned back. However, the road was the R109 and not horshamjacks post about the P1919 linking up with R104 from Tisnet to Tafroute -- this is the road we returned to take (good route too) after being told the R109 was un-passable for motorhomes.

Thanks for the info tgee.
Our friends found the market and they stayed at the hot springs campsite at Abaynou,
Good news on the P1919, we will now do Bouizikarne then Amtoudi then take the P1919 to Tafroute,
Still blowing a gale here at Plage Blanche, my bicycle cover has been ripped to shreds will see if Abdul the windbreak man can repair or make me a new one at Tafroute

Yes Cakey, I agree, now staying on Le Relais de Marrakech. Very easy to find, as I'm travelling solo until Friday. This site is the COMPLETE COMPLETE COMPLETE opposite of the place last night. And only a couple of miles outside of Marrakesh.

After leaving 'that place' this morning the rain continued and thick mist up through the mountains, via the motorway, and suddenly the rain stopped and the sun shone, the barren landscape was amazing, but gave no clues as to the strong gust of wind...

And it's now raining here !!, hey, but no snow ❄️

Sorry about that folks, must have misunderstood.

Also sorry to hear about inclement weather. We're at Foum Zguid, on the "rustic" site Khaimer Parc and although it's not been at all cold we've had intermittent light rain showers for the last 24 hours. Forecast is okay though.

And we've got a flat tyre! Looks like a slow puncture, inflated it a couple of times and moved the van in case it was something to do with being on the ramps. It's not the valve, nor the TyrePal sensor, so tomorrow we'll take it along to a place we've spotted in the village. Worst case scenario, I'll have to change the wheel so I've checked I can undo the wheel nuts. At least it's happened on a campsite and not on the road.

I think the word 'lucky' comes to mind, 'karma ' for all the help you've given others .

Camping International Agadir. Unbelievable I think it is the worst site I have ever stayed at. Words fail me.

IF you look in the vicarious book they wouldn't let them in to assess the site ..
And the French book Camping du maroc says BEST AVOIDED .......
but at . what 60 mad ? £5. Its handy for Agadir and it is less than a THS or any c&cc meet .

Best thing in Morocco and any campsite in any country is if the facilities are ok use them if not use your own .

Somewhere on the Funster Forum there is a Morocco campsite guide written by Mr Motorhome ( Andrew RIP) .. we all gave our ratings of campsites that we visited and he coordinated them into a list .
JIM maybe you could find it and post it on the Morocco 2017 thread .

My exact co-ords are 28.961786 -10.605316 it is a wildcamping spot in between Sidi Ifni and Tan Tan, it is good tarmac road from Guilimim to here the last 700 odd metres are piste but ok, turn right off the N12 as you enter Guilimim on the P1300 If coming make sure you stock up and bring plenty of water and empty toilet as there is Nothing here but 40km of beach

Back in Sidi-Ouassai at wassey beach. Enjoyed the week at Tafraoute -- but the call of the sea always wins. Already scored a big fat fresh Dorada for to-nite and looking forward to a swim tomorrow. Valentines dinner for 200mad at the cafe -- seems a bit steep to me especially when fresh fish from the fishermen is available!

Sorry for delayed response but for some reason Opera won't let me reply to a thread so I've reverted to Chrome.

Anyway, that's a nice thought Hotelman and thank you.

But happy to report that on Monday morning I asked the young man running the site for help; within half an hour a guy turned up on a moto, chased and caught a cow (versatile these Moroccans), then took the wheel off and took it away for repair. Wish I'd managed a photo of him, the guardian AND the wheel on the moto!

Less than an hour later he was back, refitted the wheel and showed me the half a broken screw he'd taken out of the tread. Job done, KwikFit eat your heart out. Mind you, he did use my tools and jack!

Hi PhilandMena, apparently about 50 guests for the Valentine bash at 200mad a pop. Just demolished the Dorada and litre of red, hick, -- will wander over to the festivities for a butchers of the great gathering and report back!
