Look for two holes cut into breezeblock walls as you go up the steps from the beach, they're the shop windows(y)

Arrived with FG at Guelmim about 5pm --- after 80k detour to visit Fort Bou Jerif right out in the sticks and not a person or any other van in sight.

Can't believe that Fort Bou Jerif in the middle of nowhere had a Hotel, camp site, Fort, Moroccan tents, buildings, showers, restaurant, facilities and, in as good a condition as I have seen anywhere throughout Maroc.

Parked at Guelmim out of town at the market and had dinner with no problem. It is a huge area with all kinds of livestock already there for the Saturday market. However, police arrived and said it was not safe and directed us to go in town and ask police to direct us to safe place to stay by the police station. Did so and now happily ensconced with a few beers looking forward to visiting marker tomorrow morning.

P.S town at night was absolutely buzzing -- noisy, chaotic, etc, with all shops open and people walking everywhere -- did not see any other westerners about and police seemed concerned we found right place to park for night.

Did you wild camp at the oasis or on the camp site? Camp site owner [doctor] was flexing his muscles last time we were there, 2010. Sent the local police heavies down to move everyone. His campsite used to be well overpriced with very iffy electric and not much in the way of facilities.
The oasis, however, was beautiful, turtles coming out to sun on the rocks, booted eagles and the odd scorpion and snake but nothing that posed a problem. This used to be an annual visit and will be again when we revisit later this year.
Also loved Guelmim. Used to have great fried fish lunch here.

Had a few shirts in the van found new owners for them, Jack Army has its first Berbar fan

I'm sure this is an old cheshnut but here we go. This years visit to Morocco is in a different van than previous visits. This one has "Gas it" refillable bottles/system. Our previous van had sufficient room in the gas locker for us to buy a bottle in Morocco and run it independently. This one sadly has not. Has anyone managed with this system and been able to modify it to get a refill or any suggestions. We thinking of taking fittings to remove one bottle and replace with local. We then have to take a valuable space carting it around. I am wondering if we could survive on 2 bottles for approx 10 weeks as we shouldn't need heating [Oct] Any thoughts would be very welcome.

Moroccan bottles fit straight on The end of the Gaslow hose without any adaptors required. I took one of my Gaslow bottles out and put the Moroccan one in its place. I stored the Gaslow bottle in the garage until I left Morocco when I binned the Moroccan bottle and put the Gaslow bottle back.

I read a thread somewhere that there is a gaslow/gasit adapter hose which fits the fill point and then attaches to a spare bottle outside the van, but needs the refillables to be empty for it to work. Maybe someone can advise if this also is a solution in Morrocco or similar.

Gaslow sell a hose which will connect to a Moroccan bottle, the other end to the gas low filler point. Its about £20 from memory. When in Maroc always ask for Propane as their Butane is wet and mucky and can play havoc with your fridge jets.

Anyone recommend a detailed map of Morocco please we have Michelin 742. 1 cm-10 km. so many places are not on there. Tried Amazon W H Smith etc but only one slightly better scale. Also like one more up to date as reading threads on here there seems to be quite a few road changes since we last visited in 2010.

From a solitary wild camp to a busy one, just arrived at Plage Blanche everyone seems to be on the lower level this year, quite busy with about 15 vans here, hot sunny day

There are a lot of road changes since 2010 the Tom Tom map of Morocco is well worth the money.

R U there all ready ?

Been and gone Graham, left this morning a/ to miss the bad weather I hope they don't get and b/ lotta places we want to see, prob our last visit to Morocco for a while.

Currently at Tata, outside piscine. Full of French who are taking up far too much room as usual. We came out of Tafraout up R106 to Igherm then P1085 to Tagmout then Tata. I'm told maps.me shows a quicker new road but it misses the absolutely fantastic scenery on the P1085 and is definitely worth the longer trip (care; it's easy to miss the left turn in Igherm, it's immediately after the right turn by the big square and not signposted. If you get to the garage you've missed it). However please note there are a few VERY tight hairpin bends that anything over 7.5m will struggle with on the R106 just before Igherm.

The P1085 is generally two-lane metalled, quite recently by the look of it, with just the occasional rough stretch where you need to take your time. The road generally follows the route of the Ouda Tata but often climbs into the hills along the way - it's generally between 5000 and 6000 ft amsl. Frequent wadis and tiny tortuous villages intersperced with geological views to take your breath away. We've done it 3 times now and still love it. I'll check the camera to see if we've caught anything worth posting later - battery nearly flat.

There is a road called the P1919 take a right by Bouizakarne on the N12 towards Icht go along a short while and take a left by Timouloy on the P1919. This picks up the R104 midway from Tiznit to Tafroute.
I personally have not done this road but a friend on FB did it a few weeks ago in their 7M van, it took 3hrs from Bouzakarne to Tafroute was told it's a very scenic route and we will be doing it in a few weeks.
We stayed at Bouzakarne last year and will again this year, nice site on the outskirts of town, lovely owners

@tgee has asked me to post that he attempted this road in his Classic Hymer and was turned back by the police - they were allowing cars through only.

He's having internet problems.

That's a bummer, I wanted to try this route, a friend on FB done it a few weeks ago, I wonder why the police turned him back ?

Hi tgee, some friends from FB who are here at Plage Blanche want to visit the camel market at Guilimin this sat, do you have the co-ords where the police directed you to stay and also the co-ords where the market takes place?
Thanks in advance hj

Blowing a hoolie here on the beach, and rain showers forecast this afternoon,
Just a note to anyone planning a visit to Plage Blanche, come with an empty cassette and plenty of water, and also do your shop at Marjane in Guelemin, as there is nothing here except a lad that brings bread.
