Morocco 2017

Weve been at Amtoudi for two days unfortunatly wifi does not work there unless you take a hike to the top of the castle, arrived on site and was joined 30mins later by Suggy n Rosie aong with George n Ann, took a hike up to the castle yesterday then walked along the palmery to the other clifftop castle and onto the cascades,
left early today and now at Tafroute along with Suggy who has some French Neighbors and is sharing his Led zep

Looks great Marc. That's some castle!
Hope to do some more climbing with you next year.

Yesterday's yomp Daz to the castles and cascades was 5hrs with Graham and Rosie, felt it last night :(
I'm looking at the Lion's face and thinking that would be a good hike with yourself and Sherpa Busman ;)

Really like the look of that castle, but if we are doing the lions head I reckon it would be a night out...I only have a 2 man tent, who goes on top????

Strange weather this year with the high winds last week and the rain the last two days? here at Tafroute parked alongside Suggy, Portland pulled in earlier this afternoon, forecast looks better from tomorrow onwards;)
Was only saying this afternoon to Graham how quiet the thread is this year ? Where is everyone else,

I picked swmbo and granddaughter ,cherry, from Marrakesh airport, staying at le relais, a good site. A trip into Marrakesh gave us 'sensory ' overload. But after eating in the square we picked up a 'flyer' for a local bar doing HAPPY HOUR, just off the square, 241 was the deal.

Then off to agadir, yes we all know the site is a dump, but it's handy. And was able to watch the football in 'camels ' bar. But on the site, the road and the music from the night clubs over the road were worse than swmbo snoring, and that's saying something !!!.
Now just outside guelmim, we had to wait 6 hours for the river levels to drop so we could cross a bridge, welcome to morroco, but ok, we'd just been to the marjane, so oven on, paella for lunch, and a DVD with cherry all was good.
The reason for bringing cherry down here was for her to see the camels in the desert.
But the bloody weather and the rain, our van has never been so filthy.
P.s whilst at the crap site in agadir, we got our deck chairs repaired, and our 'refillable ' gas cylinder filled, and it's working well .

HI TerryL, -- with Fred and Ted, Trish and Gwyn at Essaouria - all out for lunch today at fish market. Probably move tomorrow or next day to Oualidia for a night and then to Dar-Bouazza overnight for water then arrive at Moulay-Bousselham for the night before exit 28th Feb.

We had a similar experience in 2010. Just made it to the camp site before the piste became totally impassable. What was frightening was the size of the boulders that had been brought down with the torrents. They were very obvious the following morning when the floods had subsided. Good old Moroccans, they were there with a couple of JCBs and all was open again in a couple of hours.

The road 12, east of guelmim was also also closed this morning, due to flooding, but a jcb, and some off road driving and all was ok !!. Even parts of the local desert are to wet for a 4x4.
Welcome to morroco!!

Looks like you'll be there for when the weather improves Dave & Maggie as it hasn't been too brilliant up to now. Might be a wise move on your part, no more sh1t weather, fewer numpties and most of our Gaellic bretheren back home in their gites.:rofl::rofl:

Yeah, weather seems to of been a bit hit and miss this year. Remember you saying not worth going to Tafraout till Feb is out. We'll be making our way down the coast no rush again :-) going to spend a week or so at Le Relaise later on as there's a hammock next to the pool with my name on it. Everything else will just happen.

Looks like I chose the right year to take a break from Moroc. Spain has also had their worst winter in 100 years ! We start out tomorrow for 4 months. We may have judged it right this year. Again.

Currently at Taroudant and have had good weather all day although it did rain a bit at Agdz last night. Obviously though there was quite a lot elsewhere. Amazing to see how the desert suddenly blooms with the rain, everything's got a green tinge to it.

Agadir tomorrow then possibly Sidi Wassay. Wot's Tafraoute like? Got any water there yet;)

Sorry but my granddaughter had already reserved the hammock !!!

Hi Hotelman, Lokks like your gdaughter has settled in well. It was great to meet you. Nigel still drooling over your beautiful van. We're-at Chefchouan in the cold heading for Tanger today. Will definitely be back!

Travelled from Zagora towards Merzouga this morning via Tazzarine. Used the new road shown on most maps as a double dotted line and is now designated a continuation of N12. The camping a la ferme shown in the French book is recommended but is 6km down a dirt road. Didn't fancy that but not too many options along this road. Now at Hotel Meteorite where we asked and yes you can camp around the back. Booked in for a meal at 6pm 100dh. Camping 50 dh.
If you are interested the co ords are
N31*01.681'. W5*15.976' on N12 near Alnit (about half way on journey)
