Nearly the same pitch as last year Dave.(y) Recognise the restaurant on the roundabout at Foum Zguid (y).

Will you be treating Maggie to a meal in the hotel across the road then?

Now with Mark & Sam on Phil's lake, stunning here. Tomorrow we will both do both Daddies Gorge then pitch up in a campsite for two nights in Todra Gorge.
Much warmer today and back into shorts and Tee shirt.

Haha Ken, and yep it was the restaurant at Foum Zquid, we were only here a few minutes before getting accosted by a couple of hawkers, (mick & Sue wandering wolves) had a coffee with them later, they recommended the site at tazzerine so stopping there tomorrow before moving on to Erg Chebbi

The turn into the site is quite sharp, but for a Busman no sweat, take a walk into the Kasbah, we got lost, there again no probs for a Busman

Just spent a great evening on Lake Taff ;)

Been told by a local Berber Ibrahm that they catch up to 30kg Black Bass in this lake!!
Watched this chap for the best part of two hours who talked the talk but we ended up eating tinned sardines for supper:cry:

Mark the buggers got more yap than a cows got udder. Max seems to have the measure of him

I love this thread.

"DON'T GO TO MOROCCO YOU WILL SURELY DIE".

Go somewhere safe like Belgium.

That was the advice wasn't it ?
There will always be one or two who are apposed to Funsters enjoying themselves in Morocco and the odd person trying to frighten off potential first time visitors for their own twisted gratification.
As you know yourself Brian, this is wonderful place full of wonderful people and you feel safe from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart. Rammed with the French again.

If you go back towards the town Dave and turn left over the bridge there is a hotel just on the left with alcoholic drinks and the best Kefta tagine we've ever tasted.

Finally left Lake Taff this morning! got 10km up the road and hit one of the metal road markers they had put down to warn you that they were painting the white markers on the road:( Pulled into garage for petrol few hundred metres up the road for juice, tyre nigh on flat, cut a big slice in it:mad:
Spare happened to be right at the back of the garage!! everything out on the forecourt, then bottle jack would not take it up enough:cry: Phil to the rescue with his jack(y) that's gonna cost me, me thinks:whistle:
Did the Dades Gorge and now holed up at Camping Atlas Todra Gorge, great place will stop tomorrow, then head up to Midelt.

Well done getting in there Dave.
When we tried a couple of years ago we ended up with the middle of the chassis grounded on the ramp at the entrance and the van just about rocking back and forth like a see saw.
Had a hell of a job getting back out and turned around. Not helped by some impatient Moroccan numpties who wanted to get by while we were doing our 26 point turn. :swear2:

Sorry to hear about the tyre Marc Midelt might be best for a new tyre/repair me thinks, are the gorges worth the effort will take some to beat the Horseshoe Pass in North Wales

Talk about bad luck, this metal sheet made a thin slice right in the centre of Marks tyre, 99 times out of 100 it would have been deflected. To add injury to insult, a van came along picking them all up from the road as we were changing the tyre. The Fiat jack worked well on it's first ever use but to my amazement when I opened the wheel changing tool box , as supplied as standard, for the first time, lo and behold no wheel wrench. I'll get one when I return to the UK.
Other than that we all had a wonderful day driving through Daddes Gorge. Mark showed me his dash cam video after we arrived at Camping Atlas and I asked him to put it on here, which he refused. Not for the scenery but the commentary, All you could hear in the background as we drove up the Gorge was F**king hell, F**k me, Oh Please! and a few more choice words, priceless.
A couple of pictures from yesterday. At the top of Daddes and in Camping Atlas.
Today we will be exploring the Gorge and I have a shed lioad of data to use up on my data card before we exit Moroc. Be warned.

If you drive through the gorge there is a great flat wild camp place up on your left above the stalls ,we stayed for a couple of nights , dead quiet and fantastic night skies , and great walks ,
if you carry on up the road for about 10 miles there are some amazing valleys and drop offs ,

We saw a place on the right above the stalls with about 10 camper-vans but suspected this was at least guardian parking.

As suggy says we stayed on there 2 nights no guardian
Great place to watch mountain climbers on face right in front of you
Well worth it
Very quiet and dark at night
